central-intelligence-slideSynopsis: ‘Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart star in the action comedy Central Intelligence, for New Line Cinema and Universal Pictures.

‘The story follows a one-time bullied geek who grew up to be a lethal CIA agent (Johnson), coming home for his high-school reunion.  Claiming to be on a top-secret case, he enlists the help of the former “big man on campus” (Hart), now an accountant who misses his glory days.   But before the staid numbers-cruncher realizes what he’s getting into, it’s too late to get out, as his increasingly unpredictable new friend drags him through a world of shoot-outs, double-crosses and espionage that could get them both killed in more ways than he can count.

Brown and Michael Disco.’

First Look At ‘Alpha Balls’ Dwayne Johnson & Zac Efron On The Baywatch Set

February 23, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

baywatch-dwayne-johnson-zac-efron-set-picConsidering that it often seems like Zac Efron rarely does anything with his shirt off, it’s almost miraculous that he manages to wear one in the first pic from the set the Baywatch movie – especially considering the amount the skin the TV show was known for showing. However it was The Rock who released the pic via instagram, letting us know the movie has now started shooting.

He adds, ‘#BAYWATCH Day 1. My character “Mitch Buchannon” just gave @zacefron’s character “Matt Brody” the all important beach speech about what it means to have manly “Alpha balls”. Zac’s ad-libbed responses were brilliant! Talented and great dude. World get ready to have some fun, ’cause the beach will never be the same again.’

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing the movie, with a 2017 release date set. Take a look at the full first look pic below.

San Andreas (Blu-ray Review)

October 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Hugo Johnstone-Burt, Paul Giamatti
Director: Brad Peyton
Running Time: 114 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: October 12th 2015 (UK)

If you’d hoped that having Lost’s Carlton Cuse writing the screenplay would result in San Andreas being a more cerebral form of disaster movie, you should realise he was also an executive producer on Nash Bridges, so he is not averse to more straightforward entertainment. Indeed, it’s almost like he watched every Roland Emmerich movies – from 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow to Independence Day and Godzilla – and then used that as his template, but cut out anything too intelligent.

There is little to surprise here, although it certainly delivers on the large sale mayhem.

Dwayne Johnson is Los Angeles helicopter rescue pilot Ray, who’s dealing with the collapse of his marriage following the death of one of his children. However, he’s soon going to have more than that to worry about (actually, that’s not true as that’s all he cares about), when earthquakes start devastating California, starting at the Hoover Dam and then working its way up to San Francisco. And wouldn’t you know it, Ray’s daughter is in San Francisco, and so he sets off to rescue her, dodging city destroying shaking, tsunamis and general building destroying catastrophe along the way, as the San Andreas fault splits apart, resulting in the biggest quakes ever known. Take A First Look At Disney’s Latest Princess, Moana

October 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

moana-pic1It’s been a long time now that Dwayne Johnson has been attached to voice a character in Disney’s planned animated movie, Moana. However he’s been the only actor we’ve heard about.

Now Disney has announced who it is who will be playing the title character, with Hawaii-born 14-year old actress Auli’i Cravalho having scored the role. Alongside the news comes the first official picture and a video introducing us to Cravalho.

The first footage from the movie was shown in August as Disney’s D23 expo, and it was enthusiastically received by those who were there. That footage hasn’t been released online, so sadly we can’t all judge what it was like.

Ron Clements and John Musker (The Little Mermaid) are set to direct the movie. Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.’

Dwayne Johnson is set to voice demi-god Maui, who’s the other character in the pic above.

It’ll be in cinemas towards the end of next year. [Read more…]

Fast & Furious 7 (DVD Review)

September 6, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez
Director: James Wan
Running Time: 131 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: Spetember 7th 2015 (UK)

If you’d told me a year ago that one of the Fast & Furious movies would make $1.5 billion at the box office and become the fifth highest grossing movie of all time, I would have laughed directly in your face. However, I’d be eating humble pie now, as that’s just what Fast & Furious 7 has done, helped by a record-breaking run in China.

I still have no idea why it did so well – not because it’s a dreadful movie, but simply because there’s it’s tough to understand why it was so stunningly successful. But then, I suppose it’s like McDonald’s – nobody would class it as genuinely great food, but it’s incredibly popular because it’s tasty and you know exactly what you’re going to get. [Read more…]

Zac Efron In Talks For His Most Shirtless Role Yet – Baywatch The Movie

August 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zac-efron-slideThe Rock has been attached to a planned movie version of Baywatch for a while, and now he may have some company, as THR reports that Zac Efron is in talks to co-star.

Yes, Efron has managed it, finding the most shirtless role he could possibly have – he’s spent several years trying to find excuses to show off his abs, and now he’s got a film where he probably wouldn’t need to wear a shirt all!

The film take on the extremely popular (at the time) 1990s TV series follow a ‘by-the-book and very serious lifeguard (Johnson) who is forced to team up with a young rule-flouting hothead (Efron) in order to save their beach from environmental destruction at the hands of an oil tycoon’.

It sounds as if Horrible Bosses director Seth Gordon is going for a bit of a 21 Jump Street vibe, which isn’t surprising considering how successful that TV to movie adaptation was. The hope is to shoot the film early next year (probably starting in February).

Dwayne Johnson Will Have Big Trouble In Little China In A New Remake

June 2, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dwayne-johnsonNow here’s a remake that makes sense. While Big Trouble In Little China has a big cult following and a lot of people love it, it’s always been a slightly messy movie where the idea behind it always seemed better than the film itself.

Now a do-over of John Carpenter’s 1986 movie is coming, and TheWrap reports that it’s found a star, as Dwayne Johnson is attached to take over from Kurt Russell in the lead role.

The original follows a truck driver who ends up getting mixed up in a centuries old mystical mystery in San Francisco’s Chinatown, where there are plans to give a two thousand-year-old evil sorcerer a new body.

Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class) will write the script but there’s no news on whether they’re planning any major changes to the plot, or when we might see the new film.

Final San Andreas Trailer Arrives – Dwayne Johnson takes on an earthquake

May 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

san-andreas-slide1After the terrible Earthquake in Nepal, it was quickly revealed that Warner Bros. was making changes to its marketing for the upcoming San Andreas, and that may be present here, as this new trailer lays on the pathos and horror of the situation far more than earlier promos, which invited us to enjoy the orgy of destruction.

It’ll be interesting to see which of these tones is closet to the actual movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After the infamous San Andreas Fault finally gives, triggering a magnitude 9 earthquake in California, a search and rescue helicopter pilot (Dwayne Johnson) and his estranged wife make their way together from Los Angeles to San Francisco to save their only daughter. But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning. And when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.’

The movie will his UK cinemas May 28th. [Read more…]

New San Andreas Trailer – Plus a poster for the Dwayne Johnson disaster movie

March 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

san-andreas-posterNot content with the motor mayhem of Fast & Furious 7, Dwayne Johnson has decided he wants to destroy the entire West Coast of America this year! Well, okay, nature (and a whole lot of CGI) will be doing the destroying, but Dwayne is along for the rise.

And to prove this will be as over the top as any modern disaster flick is bound to be, a new trailer and poster has arrived.

‘But their treacherous journey north is only the beginning. And when they think the worst may be over…it’s just getting started.

‘The action thriller “San Andreas,” from New Line Cinema and Village Roadshow Pictures, reunites Dwayne Johnson with director Brad Peyton and producer Beau Flynn, following their collaboration on the global hit “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.”

‘The film also stars Carla Gugino (“Night at the Museum,” TV’s “Entourage”), Alexandra Daddario (“Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters,” TV’s “True Detective”), Ioan Gruffudd (“Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”), Archie Panjabi (TV’s “The Good Wife”), Hugo Johnstone-Burt (Australian TV’s “Home and Away”), Art Parkinson (TV’s “Game of Thrones”) and Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti (“Cinderella Man”).’

It’ll be in cinemas this summer. [Read more…]
