American Horror Story: Asylum (DVD)

October 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Starring: Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Zachary Quinto, Jessica Lange, Lily Rabe
Director: Various
Running Time: 531 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: October 21st 2013

Rather than having a continuing story, American Horror Story has decided to go the more interesting route of telling a completely different tale each season, although with many of the same actors (but playing new character). So while the first season was set in a haunted house in LA, Asylum takes us to the Briarcliff asylum.

We start out in the present day, when a man (Maroon 5’s Adam Levine) and his girlfriend are poking around the ruins of Briarcliff when they are confronted by an incarnation of the psychotic serial killer, Bloodyface. We then flash back to the 1960s, when Briarcliff in still in operation, presided over by the terrifying nun, Sister Jude (Jessica Lange). [Read more…]

New X-Men Set Photo Teases Evan Peter’s Quicksilver

July 5, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We’ve got the slightly unusual situation in the next couple of years, with the Marvel character Quicksilver set to appear in both X-Men: Days Of Future Past and The Avengers 2. However as the film rights are controlled by different companies he’ll be played by different actors. Avengers can’t mention his X-Men heritage, while X-Men can’t say he’ll one days join up with a superhero team.

Days Of Future Past will be our first taste of Quicksilver, and now Bryan Singer has tweeted out a hint towards that with a set photo of the Maximoff home. Quicksilver is Pietro Maximoff, who’s being played by American Horror Story’s Evan Peters.

There’s no news however on how he fits into the plot. Quicksilver is the son of Magneto, but we don’t know if he’s aware of this is the movie. And with a time-travelling plot, it’s not clear if he’ll be in the future with Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart or the past with Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy.

The main plot revolves around the X-Men from the past having to stop an assassination that will result in giant robots called sentinels rounding up mutants and interning them in camps. It’s due out May 2014.

Donald Glover & Evan Peters Are Reawakening, Alongside Mark Duplass & Olivia Wilde

June 12, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

evan-petersCommunity’s Donald Glover and American Horror Story’s Evan Peters have signed up to star in Reawakening for director David Gelb (a few months about the directorial quartet Radio Silence (V/H/S) were in talks to helm, but they are no longer involved).

The film, based on Luke Dawson’s script, is about a group of students who find a way to bring the dead back to life. As you might expect, they soon discover that there are dire consequences to those actions (these sort of things never go well in the movies, do they?). Donald Glover and Evan Peters will play members of this research team, alongside the previously-attached Mark Duplass and Olivia Wilde.

Jason Blum is producing through his Blumhouse Studios company, with Lionsgate’s Erik Feig and John Sacchi overseeing the project for the studio. (Source: TheWrap)

Evan Peters To Play Quicksilver In X-Men: Days of Future Past

May 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

evan-petersLast week Joss Whedon confirmed that Quicksilver will appear in The Avengers 2. Now director Bryan Singer has tweeted that the character will also be in X-Men: Days of Future Past, played by American Horror Story star Evan Peters.

Singer said, ‘Before he was an #Avenger, he was just a REALLY fast kid. Thrilled to say #EvanPeters is joining #XMen#DaysOfFuturePast as #Quicksilver.’

As Bryan Singer mentions in his announcement, Quicksilver (a.k.a. Pietro Maximoff) was a part of the X-Men universe before becoming an Avenger with his sister Scarlet Witch (a.k.a. Wanda Maximoff). Quicksilver is the son of Magneto, played by both Michael Fassbender and Ian McKellen in the X-Men universe, using his power of super-human speed to do evil for the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.

It’s unusual that a comic book character can appear in film franchises run by two different studios, but apparently there’s a special clause about Quicksilver because of his strong presence in both the X-Men and Avengers worlds. Apparently the way it works is that Quicksilver can appear in an Avengers film as long as his X-Men past and Magneto parentage aren’t mentioned. He’s almost certain to be played by a different actor in Avengers 2.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is currently shooting in Montreal.

John Cusack & Evan Peters Enter An Adult World

February 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

John Cusack and Evan Peters have signed on to co-star in the indie comedy Adult World, which recently started shooting in Syracuse, New York, with Scott Coffey directing from a script by Andrew Cochran.

Emma Roberts is playing 21-year old Amy Anderson, a recent college graduate with a degree in poetry, who is absolutely convinced she is set to he the next star of the literary world. She moves back home with her parents to write poetry, but with a stack of rejection letters, unpaid student loans, and no money, her parents force her to get a “real job.” However Amy discover that the only place that will hire her is an erotic bookstore called Adult World.

John Cusack plays Rat Billings, Amy’s hero and mentor who was one of the greatest poets of the early ’90s. It’s not known who Evan Peters will play, but he’s likely to have got a decent supporting role, building on the exposure he got as psychotic teen Tate Langdon in American Horror Story.
