Former Disney & King Cobra Star Garrett Clayton Comes Out With Post About Bullying

August 20, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a bit of speculation about the sexuality of Garrett Clayton, the young actor who first got noticed in Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Party. Clayton has played several queer roles, most notably playing gay porn star Brent Corrigan in King Cobra, and on several occasions has suggested he’s gay, while refusing to actually say it – leading some to suggest he was the latest inhabitant of the glass closet.

Indeed, in 2016 he defended not coming out, saying, “I just don’t think it’s pertinent to talk about my personal life. I don’t think it adds to the work; it just distracts from it.”

However, he has now decided to come out publicly and reveal that he’s also in a long-term relationship. Writing on Instagram he says, “With the release of my new movie REACH coming up, I thought it was important to explain why I took on this project in the first place. REACH deals with some very serious and timely topics that have affected me personally, and have likely influenced many of your lives as well. (I also prefer to share things that are particularly important for me here on my IG) instead of in some random magazine or online article – because you are the ones that have been rooting for me and following me on my professional and personal journey in life.

When I read the script for REACH, I immediately knew it was a film I had to be a part of. I have personally dealt with suicide within my own family, intense bullying in high school, and – on top of it all – myself and the man I’ve been in a relationship with for a long time (@hrhblakeknight) have both experienced shootings within our hometown school systems, and have witnessed the heartache that takes place in affected communities after such tragic events. These topics – not always easy to discuss- are all close to my heart, and, knowing how serious they are, I wanted to share this with you all. This film has come from the perspectives of people who care deeply about these issues, and if watching it helps even one person… then it was all worth it. ♥️”

Welcome to the club, Garrett!

King Cobra’s Garrett Clayton Talks About Why He’s Keeping His Sexuality Private

October 20, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Playing gay porn star Brent Corrigan in King Cobra has inevitably led some to ask former Disney star Garrett Clayton about his own sexuality. However, Clayton has little to say, other than to say why he’s keeping shtum.

Talking to Pridesource, he says, “This is my job. And I’m happy to promote my work. And I’m happy to stand up for things I believe in. If people can’t see the positivity in that, then I think that’s up to them.”

However, he knows some have been critical of his decision to keep things private, saying, “I mean, they probably would feel a lot differently if people were calling them and saying, ‘So tell me: What you do in your bedroom every day?’ You can have Mother Teresa giving food out and somebody will find something negative to say.”

He adds, “I moved out to LA to have a career where I got to play characters and focus on work and do all these awesome things, and I’m getting to do that now. I just don’t think it’s pertinent to talk about my personal life. I don’t think it adds to the work; it just distracts from it.

“I’m supportive of an open-minded lifestyle and letting people do what they want to do with their lives, so it’s nice to be able to do another, different type of role. Acting is about stepping out of body and getting to see different lives and experience different things, and I got to do that in this movie.”

The 25-year-old first came to many people’s attention in 2013 as Tanner in Disney’s Teen Beach Movie, and as well as King Cobra, will soon be seen in NBC’s upcoming Hairspray Live!.

Although there is some logic to what Clayton is saying, at the same time it perpetuates a double standard, as straight people simply saying they have or would like a different gender partner isn’t seen as intrusive or distracting from their work. He’s also wrong that it’s simply about people asking what he does in his bedroom, as again that isn’t the presumption made about straight people expressing their sexuality. However, Clayton is also trying to forge a career in an industry that still has a major issue with pigeonholing gay people, particularly those who want to work in film, and that being open about your sexuality will close a lot of doors. He is slightly stuck between a rock and a hard place, but at the same time a response that almost seems to be ‘I am gay or bisexual, but I’m not saying it’, may be better than flat out denial, but it’s not a fully satisfactory way of dealing with things.

Garrett Clayton Takes A Shower In First Clip From James Franco’s Gay Murder Movie, King Cobra

April 12, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

king-cobra-clipLast October it was revealed that James Franco was continuing his fascination with everything gay by producing and starring in King Cobra, based on a real-life case of murder in the gay porn business. Director Justin Kelly has worked quickly, as the film is due to premiere shortly at the Tribeca Film Festival.

Ahead of that comes the first clip, via EW, which features Garrett Clayton as Sean Paul Lockhart, aka gay porn star Brent Corrigan, and Christian Slater as porn producer, Bryan Kocis.

The film is about how porn actors Harlow Raymond Cuadra and Joseph Manuel Kerekes (Keegan Allen and James Franco) savagely killed porn producer and head of Cobra Video, Bryan Kocis. They thought by doing so they’d be able to make it big behind-the-scenes of the porn world, and lure Brent Corrigan to work for them in order to make a massively successful movie.

The film premieres on April 16th. Take a look at the clip below. [Read more…]

Keegan Allen, James Franco & Garrett Clayton Strip Down On The Set Of King Cobra

October 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

james-franco-keegan-allen-king-cobra-slideIt’s only a couple of days since we discovered the movie King Cobra existed, and it seems producer/star James Franco, along with actors Keegan Allen and Garrett Clayton, are keen we get get to see the set, and that as it’s set in the world of gay porn, it’s gonna feature a bit of skin.

Allen posted a pic of him and Franco, where he’s just in his undies and Franco in shirtless, while Clayton (who’s playing Brent Corrigan) posted an image where he’s in some very brief boxer briefs.

The film is about how porn actors Harlow Raymond Cuadra and Joseph Manuel Kerekes savagely killed porn producer and head of Cobra Video, Bryan Kocis (to be played by Christian Slater). They thought by doing so they’d be able to make it big behind-the-scenes of the porn world, and lure Brent Corrigan to work for them in order to make a massively successful movie.

Take a look at the hot pics below.

And yes, James Franco has once more found a way to be around a lot of naked men and to head into a gay-themed world. It should keep him happy for a while.

James Franco Plans Film About Gay Porn Producer Murder, With Garrett Clayton As Porn Star Brent Corrigan

October 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Garrett Clayton

Sean Paul Lockhart has made a bit of a name for himself as an actor and producer in gay-themed movies, but as many will know, before he went legit he was porn star Brent Corrigan, who for a time was the hottest gay adult actor around, known for his boy next door looks and, erm, impressive endowment.

However what fewer know is that during his career he unwittingly became central to a murder, when porn actors Harlow Raymond Cuadra and Joseph Manuel Kerekes savagely killed porn producer and head of Cobra Video, Bryan Kocis. They thought by doing so they’d be able to make it big behind-the-scenes of the porn world, and lure Brent Corrigan to work for them in order to make a massively successful movie. Lockhart had got his start with Cobra Video, although it was later revealed he was underage in his first videos. He was later involved in a legal dispute with Kocis over the name Brent Corrigan (however there was never any suggestion he was involved in the murder).

Now a film about the case is in the works, called King Cobra, with QueerClick reporting that James Franco (who else) is set to produce, with Chrisian Slater playing  Kocis. Molly Ringwald has also been cast, apparently playing Kocis’ sister Melody.

It’s not clear what actors will step into the roles of Cuadra and Kerekes, but the movie has founds its Brent Corrigan in the very hot form of former Disney Channel star Garrett Clayton (Teen Beach Movie, The Fosters).

It appears Franco will also appear in the movie, but it’s not clear what role he will play. It will also reunite him with his I Am Michael director, Justin Kelly.
