Harrison Ford Reportedly Back For Star War: Episode VII

February 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Han-SoloWith Star Wars Episodes VII-IX reportedly following the further adventures of the likes of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, it’s little surprise Disney has been talking to the original actors to try and get them on board as quickly as possible. However while Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher quickly suggested a willingness, less certain has been Harrison Ford.

However, if Latino Review is to be believed, Ford has now signed on in principle to return as Han Solo. Neither Disney nor Lucasfilm has confirmed this, and to be honest I wouldn’t expect anything official anytime soon (partly because Ford is likely to have script approval and could back out at any time).

In the Star Wars expanded universe novels, Solo married Princess Leia and had three children with her, twins Jaina and Jacen and son Anakin. Anakin sadly dies young, but the twins grow up to be Jedi. It’s not known if the new film will follow any of this plot or if they’re going for something completely new (the suggestion has been that it will be original).

It’s also been rumoured that a spin-off movie based around Han Solo is also in the works, although this would focus on a younger version of the character than we’ve seen before.

New 42 Featurette Online – Fresh look at Harrison Ford in the baseball biopic

January 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

You might have expected that a biopic of the first black player in professional baseball would be released to vie for the Oscars, but instead Warner Bros is planning to release 42 in April in the US (with no UK date currently set).

Now a new featurette has shown up giving us a new look at the movie, including Harrison Ford’s rather extreme makeup, which makes his difficult to recognise.

42 tells the true story of Jackie Robinson, the legendary baseball player who broke Major League Baseball’s colour barrier when he joined the roster of the Brooklyn Dodgers. The movie stars Harrison Ford as the innovative Dodger’s general manager Branch Rickey, the MLB executive who first signed Robinson to the minors and then helped to bring him up to the show, and Chadwick Boseman (The Express) as Robinson, the heroic African American who was the first man to break the colour line in the big leagues.

New Paranoia Pic Lands With Harrison Ford, Liam Hemsworth & Gary Oldman

December 21, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paranoia-pic1Harrison Ford, Liam Hemsworth & Gary Oldman are getting their suit on in a brand new image from the thriller Paranoia. To be honest, the first thing that strikes us is how much Liam is starting to look like his brother Chris. So if they ever need a new Thor, we know whose door they should knock on first.

Hemsworth stars as Adam Cassidy, an ambitious young man trying to get ahead in his entry-level job at a telecommunications firm. After he makes a costly mistake, the company CEO (Oldman) agrees not to turn him in if he spies on Jock Goddard (Harrison Ford), Nicholas’ mentor and a rival executive. Amber Heard is set to play a potential love interest for Adam, who works at the company he is spying on.

Robert Luketic is directing from a screenplay by Jason Dean Hall, which he adapted from the novel of the same name by Joseph Finder. Lucas Till, Embeth Davidtz, Amber Heard, Julian McMahon, with the film due out autumn 2013.

Harrison Ford & Asa Butterfield Face Off In First Ender’s Game Pic

December 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

The first image from the young adult adaptation Ender’s Game has arrived, showing Harrison Ford facing off against Asa Butterfield in a rather clinical military environment, with the tension apparently caused by blocked emails from home. The film is based on Orson Scott Card’s popular 1985 novel. It’s due in cinemas next November.

Harrison Ford plays Colonel Hyram Graff, who oversees a military facility where gifted youngsters are trained to prevent an imminent alien attack. Abigail Breslin is playing Valentine Wiggin, the older sister to the titular trainee Ender (Hugo star Asa Butterfield), while Hailee Steinfeld is set to be Ender’s ally, Petra Arkanian. Aramis Knight, Moises Arias, Jimmy Pinchak, Suraj Partha, Conor Carroll, and Khylin Rhambo also star.

Director Gavin Hood comments, “The relationship between [Harrison] and Asa was very close, but he didn’t overly befriend him off the set. He helped Asa by allowing that slight sense of intimidation to be there.

“The kids have to attend school for at least three hours of class every day, plus do homework, so you can only shoot with someone like Asa for five hours of your day. There was no time for fooling about or not knowing your lines or being unprepared. Asa being prepared meant that we could focus on the scenes, and these are complicated scenes for a young actor.”

There has been talk of whether there should be a gay boycott of the movie, due to the fact Orson Scott Card is avowedly anti-gay, and has said he believes gay sex should be banned, that same sex marriage is wrong, and has linked child abuse and homosexuality. Whether any sort of organised protest of the film will happen is yet to be seen.

Nicolas Cage Confirmed For Expendables 3, With Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes, and Mickey Rourke in Talks

November 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago news emerged that The Expendables 3 was already in the works and producers were trying to line up the likes of Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes and Harrison Ford for the movie. Now Sylvester Stalloned has shared his thoughts on his own personal Facebook page, and has confirmed Nicolas Cage will be taking a major role in the next adventure.

He’s also confirmed that the inclusion of Harrison Ford wasn’t a pipe dream, as he, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke may all be up for the movie. There is no mention of Steven Seagal, who’s also been rumoured for the film, and the previously mentioned Clint Eastwood seems to be out of the running as well.

Here’s what Sylvester Stallone had to say, “The Expendables 3: We are preparing the film with the same passion and commitment as the previous two. We have confirmed Nicolas Cage, a master actor who gives a veneer intellectual group. Hopefully we can realize to Harrison Ford, Wesley Snipes and Mickey Rourke. That is the great mission of the producer. We will continue with the same narrative scheme, the agility and the frenzy, which are inherent to the saga. What will definitely be the last? I cannot guarantee. In principle it would be two deliveries, but the affection of the people encouraged us to work on a third. I guess as long as we amused ourselves by offering fun and people, we can continue playing The Expendables. For now we are not as expendable as it should and as some critics want. Sly Stallone”

John Woo is currently being eyed to direct this latest installment, with Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham already confirmed to return.

Harrison Ford ‘Open’ To Star Wars VII, And Matthew Vaughn May Direct

November 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

From the moment it was announced a new Star Wars film was coming in 2015, it was clear we were going to be hit with vast amounts of speculation, some more informed that others. Today we’ve got two nuggets, one suggesting Harrison Ford may be up for returning to the franchise and the other saying Matthew Vaughn might direct.

We already knew Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher had been tipped off early about the possibility of more Star Wars. Now EW suggests that not only may Hamill and Fisher be back for further adventures in a galaxy far, far way, but Harrison Ford may return too. EW has what they describe as a ‘highly-placed source’ who says, “Harrison is open to the idea of doing the movie and he’s upbeat about it, all three of them are.”

That’s a long way from saying he’ll actually return – and even if he did it could just be a cameo – but it certainly sounds hopeful. As always with Ford though, he won’t enter negotiations until there is a screenplay and a director in place.

Other rumours, this time via Collider, suggest the director part of that equation may already have been decided, as they say Kick-Ass helmer Matthew Vaughn is in talks to direct Star Wars – Episode VII. It’s difficult to know how firm their sources are, although it would explain why Vaughn dropped out of X-Men: Days Of Future Past just a few months before it was due to shoot.

Many had thought there was something a bit unusual about Vaughn’s departure, as the director had seemed so upbeat about the film. It’s also true that if a director drops out late, it’s usually acrimonious and they have nothing to do with the movie afterwards, but they didn’t seem unhappy with Vaughn in the X-Men camp, as he will still produce the movie.

Both Vaughn and Ford and far from certain yet – nothing will be confirmed until it’s officially announced by Disney – but it’s all certainly intriguing.

Harrison Ford & Zac Efron Say You Belong To Me In Rob Reiner’s Thriller

November 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few months ago it was revealed that Rob Reiner was heading back into thriller territory for the first time since 1990’s Misery, helming You Belong To Me. Now it seems the cast is coming together, as The Wrap reports Zac Efron and Harrison Ford are set to star in the movie, which is said to be in the same vein as Cape Fear. Neither actor has signed on the dotted line yet, but both are in talks.

The story is about a psychiatrist (Ford), who is tormented by regret after a female patient kills herself. In the wake of her suicide, he befriends her brother James (Efron), telling him more about himself than he should. Things take a dark turn when James wheedles his way into the shrink’s home and begins toying with his wife and daughter. It’ll certainly show us a different side of Efron. Reiner previously commented, “This one has a deep psychological bent to it and a big twist in the end that I didn’t see coming. That’s why I decided to take a whack at this one.”

The wife and daughter are yet to be cast, but expect news on the soon, as You Belong To Me is one the fast track, with plans to shoot next March.

Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford & Nicolas Cage Wanted For Expendables 3

August 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Expendables 2 is set to close the summer movie season with a bang when it’s released later this week. With that film already in the can, the producers are already looking to the future and The Expendables 3.

Producer Avi Lerner has been talking to Total Film and told them that they are going after even more big names in the potential follow-up, “We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford. [And we want] Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage to play [one of the characters]. And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy. I like Mickey. And of course, all the existing stars [will return].”

It isn’t known if Sylvester Stallone is writing the screenplay for this third installment, although it seems they definitely have some new characters worked out. If The Expendables 2 director Simon West returns, he will reunite with Nicolas Cage, who starred in his 1997 action-thriller Con Air, and the filmmaker’s upcoming Stolen, debuting in cinemas later this year.

While it seem Cage has already agreed, I reckon Lerner will be very lucky to get Eastwood and Ford, who are incredibly picky about they’re projects. Eastwood in particular hardly makes any movie any more as an actor, and it’s tough to imagine he’ll agree to this.
