New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer – Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard have another dino disaster

April 22, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When the first trailer for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom arrived, it got a bit of a mixed reception. For everyone who thought it looked awesome, another wondered whether it was possible for a franchise to jump the shark in a promo. Now a new trailer/expanded Super Bowl Spot has arrived, which shows the movie won’t be totally crazy – although it still looks rather over the top.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘With all of the wonder, adventure and thrills synonymous with one of the most popular and successful franchises in cinema history, this all-new motion-picture event sees the return of favorite characters and dinosaurs—along with new breeds more awe-inspiring and terrifying than ever before. Welcome to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

‘Stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard return alongside executive producers Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow for Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Pratt and Howard are joined by co-stars James Cromwell, Ted Levine, Justice Smith, Geraldine Chaplin, Daniella Pineda, Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, while BD Wong and Jeff Goldblum reprise their roles.

‘Directed by J.A. Bayona (The Impossible), the epic action-adventure is written by Jurassic World’s director, Trevorrow, and its co-writer, Derek Connolly. Producers Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley once again partner with Spielberg and Trevorrow in leading the team of filmmakers for this stunning installment. Belén Atienza joins the team as a producer.’

The movie hits cinemas in June. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

New Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer – Dinosaurs aren’t Chris Pratt & Bryce Dallas Howard’s only problem

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Trailer – Chris Pratt returns to save dinos from a doomed island

December 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I feel that after watching this first trailer for the follow-up to the mega-hit Jurassic World, you may be asking yourself, ‘WTF have I just seen?’ It’s kind of like an explosion of over-the-top-ness. No longer just content with killer dinos, they’ve gone and thrown in an exploding volcano!

It’s pretty spectacular, but I have a horrible feeling this is going to be Lost World all over again – it looks good but quickly becomes too daft to suspend disbelief (and that’s just the trailer). At least it’s good to see Jeff Goldblum back as Ian Malcolm.

Marshall Trailer – Chadwick Boseman plays the first African-American US Supreme Court justice

September 3, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Chadwick Boseman continues his run a playing African-American luminaries as after being Jackie Robinson in 42 and James Brown in Get On Up, he is Thurgood Marshall in this autumn’s Marshall. Although that name probably isn’t that well known outside the US, he’s extremely well-known in America, not least for his involvement in the landmark school desegregation case, Brown v. Board of Education, as well as becoming the first African-American US Supreme Court justice.

However, the movie, which also stars Sterling K. Brown, Kate Hudson, Josh Gad, Dan Stevens and James Cromwell, focuses on an earlier moment in Marshall’s life.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘MARSHALL, based on the early career of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, follows the young lawyer (Chadwick Boseman) to conservative Connecticut to defend a black chauffeur (Sterling K. Brown) against his wealthy white socialite employer (Kate Hudson) in a sexual assault and attempted murder trial. In need of a high-profile victory but muzzled by a segregationist court, Marshall is partnered with young Jewish lawyer Samuel Friedman (Josh Gad) who has never tried a case. They struggle against a hostile storm of fear and prejudice, driven to discover the truth in a sensationalized trial that helped lay the groundwork for the Civil Rights Movement.’

The Queen (Blu-ray)

May 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Helen Mirren, James Cromwell, Michael Sheen, Roger Allam, Sylvia Syms
Director: Stephen Frears
Running Time: 103 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: May 28th, 2012

While the world of film loves to make royal biopics, nearly all of them are historic, with even something like The King’s Speech causing some to wonder whether its subject matter is too close to the present to make it suitable for a movie (seriously, some people complained about that). It’s very unusual therefore for a mainstream royal biopic to take on the current royal family, especially concerning events that are in the recent past. The Queen does though and does it very well, winning Helen Mirren an Oscar in the process. Now the film is making its first appearance on Blu-ray, just in time for the monarch’s Diamond Jubilee.

Following the death of Princess Diana, the Queen (Mirren) and royal family attempt to deal with what they believe should be a private matter between themselves and the Spencer family. However as attacks from the media and public begin to grow, and with new PM Tony Blair (Michael Sheen) advising her, the Monarch slowly comes to realise that her apparent inaction is becoming a threat to her position. The Artist (Cinema)

December 29, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jean DuJardin, Berenice Bejo, John Goodman, James Cromwell
Director: Michel Hazanavicius
Running Time: 100 mins
Certificate: PG
Release Date: Dec 30th (London), Jan 6th (Nationwide)

I don’t know why people are saying The Artist should win at the Oscars. It’s obvious director Michel Hazanavicius doesn’t know how to make a movie. For a start, he made the film in black and white. Doesn’t he know the world got coloured in during the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s? Plus, he’s so incompetent he forgot to record the dialogue, so he just plays some music and occasionally has a caption card come up on screen, as if that’s a sensible way of telling a story.

He doesn’t even manage to make it in the right aspect ratio, as it’s the same width-to-length as old style-TVs. Hell, it’s not even in 3D! Hazanavicius needs to go back to square one, watch some Michael Bay movies and learn how to make real, proper films with explosions and stuff. This is the 21st Century! [Read more…]
