Avengers: Age of Ultron Extended Trailer – Take a look at more from the superheroes

November 12, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

avengers-age-of-ultron-chris-hemsworth-shirtlessA few weeks ago we got our first look at Avengers: Age Of Ultron with a trailer. Now a new extended version has arrived, giving us a little bit more of the movie, including more interaction between our heroes.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

‘Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision. Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963. Get set for an action-packed thrill ride when The Avengers return in Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on April, 2015.’ [Read more…]

Matt Damon Confirms He’ll Be Back As Jason Bourne

November 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bourne-ultimatum-matt-damonIn September is was reported that director Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon were in talks to make another Bourne movie. While the sources seemed pretty solid, Damon himself wasn’t saying anything about it, and with talks for a fourth Jason Bourne movie having fallen through before, it wasn’t completely certain.

However now Matt himself has confirmed it, telling E! News, telling them, “Yes, next year [we’ll shoot it]. It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes.”

Damon is just about to shoot The Martian for Ridley Scott and he’s also recently signed up for Alexander Payne’s Downsizing, so presumably the new Bourne movie will come after those films.

Previously 2016 was set to get a sequel to The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner, but when Damon and Greengrass came on board, that film took a backseat. It’s not clear yet whether they’ll bring in Renner to star alongside Damon, or whether we’ll have to wait longer for his return to the franchise.

Avengers: Age Of Utron Teaser Trailer – Heroes old and new unite

October 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

avengers-age-of-ultron-poster1We weren’t meant to get the Avengers: Age Of Utron teaser until next week, but after the trailer leaked Marvel quickly decided that rather than trying to put the genie back in the bottle they’d go with it and release official versions.

It’s certainly a big one, offering a great look at the movie, including new heroes such as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, along with plenty of creepily robotic bad guys and an Iron Man who looks like tank. It also suggests things won’t go well for everyone, and that even an adamantium shield may not protect you.

And and keep an eye out for this shot:

Matt Damon & Paul Greengrass Coming Back For More Bourne?

September 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matt-damonBefore we got The Bourne Legacy there was a lot of back and forth about whether Matt Damon would make another Bourne movie. While he never completely ruled it out, he did say he wouldn’t come back without director Paul Greengrass – and at the time the helmer wasn’t interested.

It seems things have changed though, as Deadline reports that Universal Pictures is finalizing deals with Damon and Greengrass for a new Bourne flick. It was Matt himself who seems to have opened the door, saying back in May that he was open to playing Bourne again, and also hinted that Greengrass wasn’t completely averse to the idea if they could find a story that interested them both.

It’s bad news for Jeremy Renner though, as he’s due to star in a follow-up to Bourne Legacy, which Justin Lin is set to direct and currently has a July 2016 release date set. However if it all comes together for Jason Bourne’s return, the Renner movie is likely to get bumped with the Damon film taking over that release date.

It’s not known what the plot might be or who will write the script.

Joss Whedon Plays Air Bow Opposite Jeremy Renner In New Avengers 2 Pic

August 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Avengers-Age-of-Ultron-pic1A new pic from the set of Avengers: Age Of Ulton has emerged, which suggests Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye isn’t quite the bowmaster he appears on screen, as he’s getting a few tips from director Joss Whedon. The image arrived via Empire (along with a couple we’ve seen before).

The new Avengers movie revolves around tech called Ultron that Tony Stark has built to protect the world when the superheroes aren’t around (perhaps taking the place of the now semi-defunct S.H.I.E.L.D.). However creating artificially intelligent robots have rarely been a good idea in the movies, and so soon Ultron has turned on his creator and sends Stark’s army of drones to get rid of the planet’s number one problem – human beings.

The film is due out May 2015.

The Full Avengers: Age Of Ultron Concept Art Poster Is Here

July 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

avengers-comic-con-poster10Yesterday we posted four Avengers: Age Of Ultron concept art posters, and now we’ve got the other four, which all piece together to make the giant battle poster above.

The new posters feature Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. And if you look at the Quicksilver pic you’ll notice someone floating about in the background, which is believed to be Vision.

Vision is the sentient, embodied version of Paul Bettany’s Jarvis, Tony Stark’s assistant. However it’s now known what side he’ll be on, or whether as in the comics he is created by villainous Ultron, which is other Stark tech designed to help mankind when the Avengers aren’t around, but which goes rogue and causes all manner of trouble.

Take a look at the posters above and below.

Kill the Messenger Trailer – Jeremy Renner investigates the CIA’s connection to drugs

May 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few months ago we got the first pictures from Kill The Messenger, but it’s taken a while for us to get a trailer. It’s a movie that looks like it’ll allow Renner to show off his acting chops, along with plenty of thriller tension.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Two-time Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner (“The Bourne Legacy”) leads an all-star cast in a dramatic thriller based on the remarkable true story of Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb. Webb stumbles onto a story which leads to the shady origins of the men who started the crack epidemic on the nation’s streets…and further alleges that the CIA was aware of major dealers who were smuggling cocaine into the U.S., and using the profits to arm rebels fighting in Nicaragua. Despite warnings from drug kingpins and CIA operatives to stop his investigation, Webb keeps digging to uncover a conspiracy with explosive implications. His journey takes him from the prisons of California to the villages of Nicaragua to the highest corridors of power in Washington, D.C. – and draws the kind of attention that threatens not just his career, but his family and his life.’

It’ll be interesting to see how the film ends, as the true story doesn’t have a particularly happy ending.

The movie will be out this autumn, when Renner may well be going after his third Oscar nomination. [Read more…]

American Hustle (Blu-ray)

April 27, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner
Director: David O. Russell
Running Time: 139 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: April 28th 2014

American Hustle recently joined a select band of movies to get 10 Oscar nominations but not win a single award (although The Turning Point and Color Purple still hold the record with 11 noms and no wins). However the fact a film like this got 10 nods is a pretty impressive achievement on its own.

Christian Bale is Irving Rosenfeld, a small time hustler who finds his con man empire growing when he teams up with the smart and beautiful Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams). However things look like they’re going south after the FBI’s Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper) fingers them. [Read more…]

The Immigrant Trailer – Marion Cotillard finds Jeremy Renner & Joaquin Phoenix in America

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Who’d have thought it? When some immigrants got to America in the past, everything was all roses and puppies!

That certainly seems true in James Gray’s The Immigrant, which stars Marion Cotillard, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jeremy Renner, which premiered last year at Cannes.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Ewa Cybulski (Marion Cotillard) and her sister sail to New York from their native Poland in search of a new start and the American dream. When they reach Ellis Island, doctors discover that Magda (Angela Sarafyan) is ill, and the two women are separated. Ewa is released onto the mean streets of Manhattan while her sister is quarantined. Alone, with nowhere to turn and desperate to reunite with Magda, Ewa quickly falls prey to Bruno (Joaquin Phoenix), a charming but wicked man who takes her in and forces her into prostitution. The arrival of Orlando (Jeremy Renner) – a dashing stage magician who is also Bruno’s cousin – restores her self-belief and hopes for a brighter future, becoming her only chance to escape the nightmare in which she finds herself.’

The film hits US cinemas in May. [Read more…]

Paul Bettany Is Vision In Avengers: Age of Ultron

February 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paul-bettanyWe’ve heard Paul Bettany’s voice in three Iron Man movies and The Avengers, as Tony Stark’s artificial intelligence butler J.A.R.V.I.S. However it appears he may now be getting a body, as The Daily Mail and Variety have confirmed that Bettany is set to play Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Last August, many wondered whether Bettany would be playing Ultron in the highly-anticipated sequel, as it’s believed the big bad guy would be a corruption of Stark’s tech, so it would have made sense if Bettany had taken the part. However then Marvel announced James Spader was Ultron.

Since then there has been hints that Bettany would be Vision instead, an android created by Ultron in the Marvel comic books. Now that’s been confirmed.

The Daily Mail reports that Bettany and Jeremy Rener has been spotted at London’s Shepperton Studios, where Avengers: Age of Ultron is gearing up to start production next month. Both actors met with director Joss Whedon and performed a series of costume, hair and makeup tests. It’s said makeup experts were using various powders on Paul Bettany’s skin, trying to replicate Vision’s chalky-white complexion.

It’s difficult to say exactly how Vision plays into the movie, as he has a rather complicated history in Marvel comics and there have been various version of him. It’s most likely Ultron will create Vision as a housing for a corrupted version of Tony Stark’s AI technology.
