Jason Bourne Trailer – Matt Damon is back in action as the former secret agent

April 21, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jason-bourne-pic1After leaving the franchise behind, it surprised many when Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass were planning to return to the Bourne franchise. However, that’s exactly what they’ve done and now the first official trailer for the movie had arrived.

Along with the promo comes a poster as well as some comments from Greengrass, who says, “Jason Bourne isn’t a super hero; he doesn’t wear a cape or a mask. He’s not one of those kinds of guys. He is just an ordinary man. I think when people watch Jason Bourne they can imagine how they might react in those situations and those circumstances, and when you see him thinking his way through and coming up with a plan and executing his plan, that’s incredibly exciting.”

He adds, “It has taken us a long time to come back because we didn’t have the right story before. The world needed to change and then there comes that moment when it makes sense. You know when it feels right and that’s when you do it, not before.”

Alicia Vikander, Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel and Tommy Lee Jones also star.

Jason Bourne will be released in UK cinemas July 27th. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Jason Bourne First Look – Matt Damon is back kicking ass (and shirtless) as the former spy

February 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

jason-bourne-matt-damonIt seems the new Bourne movie is dropping the name convention of ‘The Bourne…’ and will just be called Jason Bourne, but other than that it’s business as usual. As this first look shows (which premiered during the Super Bowl), Matt Damon back in action, with plenty of action and fisticuffs. Indeed, if anything, it wants to show he’s even more badass this time around.

There’s still not too much info on the plot, but do know that it’s set in 2016, 12 years after the 2004 setting of The Bourne Ultimatum. Jason has apparently been off the grid in that time, but comes out of hiding in order to find our more about his past. Although as the First Look suggests, he already has more of his memory back – but that doesn’t mean he knows the full truth. Bourne 5 will be out this summer.

Jason Bourne will be in UK cinemas on July 19th. Watch the First Look teaser below.

First Image From Matt Damon’s Return As Jason Bourne

January 2, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bourne-5-pic1Poor old Jeremy Renner, in everything from Avengers to Mission: Impossible it’s looked like he’s been on the verge of being handed his own massive franchise, only to end up slightly on the edge. Now it’s happening with the Bourne franchise, as rather than him starring in the planned follow-up to Bourne Legacy, Matt Damon is returning alongside director Paul Greengrass for Bourne 5.

It doesn’t have an official title yet, but we do have the first image, which we almost didn’t post because it’s so, well, dull. After all, it could have been Damon in any movie. He doesn’t even have his shirt off or anything.

EW also has a few new bits of info on the plot, saying it’ll be set in 2016, 12 years after the 2004 setting of The Bourn Ultimatum. Jason has apparently been off the grid in that time, but comes out of hiding in order to find our more about his past.

Damon says, “We find him in a dark and tortured place,” before adding that the plot also involves the changes that have taken place in the past dozen years, “There’s been the financial collapse, the great recession, all these issues of cyberwarfare and civil liberties.” Bourne 5 will be out this summer.

Matt Damon Is Back & Ripped In The First Pic From New Bourne Movie

September 9, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matt-damon-bourne-5After Matt Damon left Jason Bourne behind – saying he wouldn’t return without director Paul Greengrass – both Damon and Greengrass are back on set for a new adventure, and to prove it producer Frank Marshall tweeted the pic above, where Matt is looking pretty ripped.

Not much is known about the plot of the movie, although the film brings back Julia Stiles as Nicky, while newcomers include Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander and Vincent Cassel (as the villain). All we know is that Damon has suggested Bourne will be dealing with “an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world,” with the plot touching on “spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”

The film is due to hit cinemas July 29th, 2016.

Matt Damon Confirms He’ll Be Back As Jason Bourne

November 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bourne-ultimatum-matt-damonIn September is was reported that director Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon were in talks to make another Bourne movie. While the sources seemed pretty solid, Damon himself wasn’t saying anything about it, and with talks for a fourth Jason Bourne movie having fallen through before, it wasn’t completely certain.

However now Matt himself has confirmed it, telling E! News, telling them, “Yes, next year [we’ll shoot it]. It’ll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes.”

Damon is just about to shoot The Martian for Ridley Scott and he’s also recently signed up for Alexander Payne’s Downsizing, so presumably the new Bourne movie will come after those films.

Previously 2016 was set to get a sequel to The Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner, but when Damon and Greengrass came on board, that film took a backseat. It’s not clear yet whether they’ll bring in Renner to star alongside Damon, or whether we’ll have to wait longer for his return to the franchise.

Director Paul Greengrass Is Going Into The Tunnels

October 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paul-GreengrassWhile Paul Greengrass signing up for a movie is far different from him actually directing it (he has a tendency to pick up and leave movies behind), he’s recently agreed to helm The Tunnels, based on an upcoming book by Greg Mitchell.

It will tell the true story of a covert escape mission, where West Germans tried to get their friends and family out of East Berlin during the Cold War. Their group received surprising support from an American news organization, who funded their efforts.

It’s very early days as currently the book has moved beyond the proposal stage, so it will be a while before it’s ready to be turned into a script. That may give Greengrass time to shoot another Bourne movie before he moves into The Tunnels, as he’s currently in talks to reteam with Matt Damon for another adventure.

Matt Damon & Paul Greengrass Coming Back For More Bourne?

September 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matt-damonBefore we got The Bourne Legacy there was a lot of back and forth about whether Matt Damon would make another Bourne movie. While he never completely ruled it out, he did say he wouldn’t come back without director Paul Greengrass – and at the time the helmer wasn’t interested.

It seems things have changed though, as Deadline reports that Universal Pictures is finalizing deals with Damon and Greengrass for a new Bourne flick. It was Matt himself who seems to have opened the door, saying back in May that he was open to playing Bourne again, and also hinted that Greengrass wasn’t completely averse to the idea if they could find a story that interested them both.

It’s bad news for Jeremy Renner though, as he’s due to star in a follow-up to Bourne Legacy, which Justin Lin is set to direct and currently has a July 2016 release date set. However if it all comes together for Jason Bourne’s return, the Renner movie is likely to get bumped with the Damon film taking over that release date.

It’s not known what the plot might be or who will write the script.

Paul Greengrass Circling Spy Thriller The Director

January 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paul-greengrassPaul Greengrass has a tendency to sign up for and then leave an awful lot of projects before he actually ends up directing one, so when you hear he’s attached, it’s far from certain he’ll actually end up making the movie. However now he’s circling a new one, as TheWrap reports Sony has picked up the rights to David Ignatius’ novel The Director for Greengrass to direct.

The book follows Graham Weber, who has just taken over as CIA director for a week when a young Swiss man claims that the agency has been infiltrated by hackers. The man also has a list of agents’ names to back it up. Weber joins forces with unstable CIA tech specialist James Morris, who runs the Internet Operations centre. They launch a secret mole hunt that takes them deep into the hacker underworld.

Ignatius previously wrote Body of Lies, which was adapted into a 2008 Ridley Scott movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe.

Captain Phillips International Trailer – Fresh look at the Tom Hanks piracy tale

August 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tom Hanks is going Oscar-bait again with Captain Phillips, Paul Greengrass’ first movie since 2010’s Green Zone. Now a new trailer has been released, giving us a feel for the movie’s shaky-cam style as well a bit slightly bigger insight into Hanks’ character than we’ve had before.

The movie is based on the true story of Maresk Alabama captain Richard Phillips (Hanks), who sacrificed himself to be taken hostage by Somali pirates, so he could save the lives of his crew. He spent three days in captivity before being rescued by a Navy SEAL team in 2009.

The film is due out in the US in October. [Read more…]
