First Pics Of Jeremy Renner In Kill the Messenger

November 5, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kill-the-messenger-pic1
Kill The Messenger recently finished shooting and now we’ve got our first look at Jeremy Renner in the movie, via USA Today, with the actor stepping aside from the action hero roles we’ve seen him in recently.

The movie is based on the true story of Gary Webb, a San Jose Mercury News reporter who helped expose the CIA’s involvement in a drug smuggling operation with Nicaraguan rebels in the 1980s. In an effort to discredit the writer, the agency launched a smear campaign before the journalist tragically his own life.

Director Michael Cuesta commented, “Gary just starts digging and keeps digging like a Doberman to find the truth. But he never expected the story to have the response it did. He was controversial-ized.”

Jeremy Renner adds, “Good investigative journalism ruffles feathers. From the reaction he got, Gary was doing something right. It’s a man left out in the wind on his own. The letter was the ultimate betrayal for Gary, I believe. The mothership bailed and that crushed him.”

The movie will be out next year.

Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper & Co. Give Off The 70s Vibe In American Hustle Posters

October 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

american-hustle-character-poster1
American Hustle has certainly got a great cast, and these five character posters are here to show it. And also how the likes of Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are really going for the 70s vibe in the movie.

They’re certainly looking cool.

The movie is based on a true story and follows Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), a con artist who, along with his lover and accomplice Sydney (Amy Adams), are forced by an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper) to help with his ABSCAM conspiracy case in the 1970s. That ended with a US Senator and five Congressmen were convicted on corruption charges. David O. Russell directs.

The film is out at Christmas.

Jeremy Renner Is Coming Back For Another Bourne, With Anthony Peckham Writing

August 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jeremy-renner-the-bourne-legacy
After The Bourne Legacy barely broke $110 million at the US box office – despite costing $125 million to make – many thought that was the end of Jeremy Renner in the franchise. However it did make nearly $300 million worldwide, and while it’s taken them a while to decide what to do next, Deadline reports that Universal has hired Anthony Peckham (Sherlock Holmes) to write the next instalment, with Renner coming back to star.

There’s no news on a director. Tony Gilroy helmed Legacy, but as he also worked on the scripts for all the previous Bourne movies, so the fact he’s not onboard to write this one suggests he may not be back.

There’s no news on where the plot might go, but Universal is apparently keen to build the story of Renner’s Aaron Cross, an agent whose story ran parallel to that of Jason Bourne in the last film, when his former bosses tried to have him and the other chemically enhanced operatives killed due to the problem Jason was causing.

Some are suggested that the delay in commissioning a fifth Bourne film is due to Universal trying to woo Damon back, but as he’s not ready to return yet (he’s previously suggested he’ll only return if Paul Greegrass helms and wasn’t sure where Jason’s story would go now he’s got his memory back), they’re no moving forward with another Renner based movie.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters Sequel In The Works

March 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hansel-Gretel-witch-hunters-poster2When Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters was delayed from last year to this spring, few people gave it much chance of becoming a hit, but it’s proven its critics wrong, taking more than $200 million worldwide on a budget of $50 million.

As a result, THR reports that Paramount Pictures and MGM have confirmed that a sequel is in the works, as the $200 million mark was the milestone they’d set to decide to move forward with a follow-up.

In the first film, Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton star as the title characters, who 15 years after their nasty experience at the gingerbread house, work as witch hunters. It’s not known at the moment whether the two stars will return, nor whether writer/director Tommy Wirkola will be back at the helm, although its quite likely all three will be up for more fairytale madness.

Jeremy Renner Will Kill The Messenger In A New Drama

February 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

jeremy-renner-hurt-lockerJeremy Renner is a busy boy, even if he’s yet to truly establish himself as a big box office name (Avengers and Mission Impossible 4 don’t really count). Now he’s lining up a new project, with Variety reporting that he’s set to star in and produce Kill The Messenger.

Michael Cuesta is set to direct from Peter Landesman’s script, which is based on investigative journalist Gary Webb’s stories alleging that the CIA was involved in the spread of crack cocaine in Los Angeles. Webb killed himself in 2004 after being subject to an alleged smear campaign following his three-art series of articles that linked the CIA to a scheme to arm Contra rebels in Nicaragua and import cocaine into California.

The current plan is to shoot the movie this summer, as long as funding can be found (they’ll be looking for it at the Berlin Film Festival over the next couple of weeks).

New Hansel And Gretel: Witch Hunters NSFW Trailer

January 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We might have had to wait quite a while for the release of Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, but it’s not long now until the film’s February 22nd release. To help up the anticipation, Paramount has released a new red band trailer, showing this fairytale is going to be pretty violent.

The film sees Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as grown up versions of Hansel & Gretel, who now work as bounty hunters tracking down witches. If you were thinking this was going to be all buttercups and fairytale prettiness, think again, as it’s going to have plenty of blood and guts, along with a dark sense of humour. Tommy Wirkola directs.

Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters – Red Band Trailer

October 30, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

If all had gone to the original plan, Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters would have hit cinemas last spring, but it got delayed (some have suggested because it’s not that great, others have said that movie was waiting for Jeremy Renner to get more famous). Now it’s set for release early next year (March 15th to be exact), and the a new red band trailer has arrived, giving us a look at the movie, which sees Renner and Gemma Arterton as grown up versions of the fairy tale characters, who now work as bounty hunters tracking down witches. If you were thinking this was going to be all buttercups and fairytale prettiness, think again, as it’s going to have plenty of blood and guts, along with a dark sense of humour.

Jeremy Renner & Julianne Moore Join Al Pacino In Imagine

October 24, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For quite a while now, Al Pacino has been attached to Imagine, a John Lennon infused drama being put together by writer/director Dan Fogelman. However production has been delayed, partly due to casting issues, as while Steve Carell was set to play Pacino’s son, he dropped out.

Now things are moving forward again, with Deadline reporting that Pacino has been confirmed for the film and he’s been joined by Jeremy Renner and Julianne Moore. Pacino will play an aging rock star who decides to turn his life around after discovering a letter John Lennon wrote to him. He sets out to track down the son (Jeremy Renner) he has never met. Julianne Moore will play the manager of a small New Jersey motel the rocker moves into.

The current plan is for production to kick off sometime between April and May of next year.
