Chef Trailer – Jon Favreau serves up something a little more small-scale

April 8, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jon Favreau has been making big Hollywood blockbusters for the last few years with the first two Iron Man movies, and he’s also been developing some other grand scale projects such as The Jungle Book and Magic Kingdom.

However he’s now squeezed in something a little smaller and which gives him the chance to both direct and play the lead.

The movie follows a former high class chef (Favreau) who decides to get team up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his best pal (John Leguizamo) and his son (Emjay Anthony) and get a food truck, which he hopes will get him out of the rut he’s stuck in.

The great cast also features Dustin Hoffman, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling and Robert Downey Jr.

Chef is due out in the US on May 9th, before coming to the UK on June 20th. [Read more…]

Jon Favreau Joins Wolf of Wall Street

July 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jon Favreau may be a much in-demand director but he hasn’t given up acting, and now Deadline reports that he has signed on for a role in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio.

Favreau will play a securities lawyer, although no further character details are known. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Jordan Belfort, a Long Island stock broker who made millions selling phony stocks in the 1980s. The story is adapted from Belfort’s memoir, which chronicles his rise and fall, including his bouts of substance abuse. Jonah Hill, Kyle Chandler, Jean Dujardin, Margot Robbie, Jon Bernthal, and Rob Reiner also star.

Martin Scorsese is directing from an adapted screenplay by Terence Winter (Boardwalk Empire). Production is scheduled to begin next month in New York City.

Jon Favreau Back As Happy Hogan In Iron Man 3

May 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

When Jon Favreau announced he wouldn’t be directing Iron Man 3, it appeared he’d had a bit of a falling out with Marvel. However any problems can’t be too bad, as Favreau has confirmed via Twitter he’s coming back for Iron Man 3, but only to reprise his role as Tony Stark’s bodyguard, Happy Hogan, uploading a image of his seat on the film’s set.

He’s not the only one up for the film, as Variety reports that actor Ashley Hamilton is now in talks to play the villain known as Firepower in Iron Man 3. The character in the comics is a corporate rival of Tony Stark’s who builds an armored suit for the government and then uses it to battle the titular hero. Quite frankly I don’t think Iron Man 3 really needs more metal-suited man vs. metal-suited man, but perhaps they can do something interesting with it.

Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and Paul Bettany all return for the film, which is said to be based on the Extremis comic book arc where the hero must battle the spread of a stolen nanovirus. Shane Black is directing the film and co-wrote the script with Drew Pearce.

Jon Favreau To Star In Identity Thief

May 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

In the last few years, Iron Man and its sequel have made Jon Favreau one of the top directors in Hollywood. However he still make occasional trips in front of the camera, such as Couples Retreat and as one of the aliens in John Carter. Now he’s in talks for another acting role, this time in the Universal Pictures comedy Identity Thief.

The movie is about a man (Jason Bateman) whose life is turned upside down when his identity is stolen by a woman (Melissa McCarthy). Variety reports that if the deal goes through, Favreau will play Jason Bateman’s boss. Amanda Peet is also attached to star.

Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) is directing from a screenplay by Steve Conrad (The Weather Man), with Craig Mazin (The Hangover Part II) providing the most recent rewrite. Shooting is schedule to begin in the new few weeks.
