Nick Frost Gets His Dance On In First Cuban Fury Pics

November 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a lot of excitement about next year’s reunion between Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, The World’s End, but if you’re a Frost fan, you’ll be able to get your fill of him before then on March 22nd, when Cuban Fury is released. With Rashida Jones and Chris O’Dowd also amongst the cast, it could be an awful lot of fun. Now the first images have popped up via Collider, which you can see above and below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘1987: A 13 year old natural born dancer with fire in his heels and snakes in his hips is working himself up to reign over the UK Junior Salsa Championships. But then.. a freakish bullying incident on the mean streets of London robs him of his confidence, and our young hero finds his life diverted down a very different path.

‘So it is that 22 years later, an adult Bruce Garrett (Nick Frost) finds himself out-of-shape and unloved – trapped in a downward spiral of self-pity and repression. Only Julia (Rashida Jones), his smart, funny, gorgeous, new American boss gives him reason to live. But she’s untouchable. Out of his league, so he imagines, with her perfect smile and perfect life. Unknown to Bruce however, Julia has issues all of her own. Luckily for him, she also has a secret passion… Then there’s Drew (Chris O’Dowd), his alpha male colleague and horny king-monkey of the office. With Drew making no secret of his desire to get (his words) “all up inside Julia,” Bruce is forced into action…

‘And thus, Bruce is once again brought face-to-face with the darkest and most powerful of his inner demons. Somehow, someway, and with a lot of handholding from loyal sister Sam (Olivia Colman) Bruce must learn how to unshackle his dancing beast, regain his long lost fury and claim the love of his life… and he’s going to do it all On The Dance Floor…’

The Muppets (Blu-ray)

June 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jason Segel, Amy Adams, Chris Cooper, Rashida Jones, Kermit The Frog
Director: James Bobin
Running Time: 103 mins
Certificate: U
Release Date: June 11th, 2012

Disney bought The Muppets from the Jim Henson Company back in 2004, realising that with their long-lasting popularity, they might be a good addition to the Disney universe. However since then the House Of Mouse hasn’t seemed entirely sure what to do with them. While they’ve tried several things over the years, the problem seems to have been Disney trying to shoehorn the characters into the way they deal with their other properties, rather than letting them be themselves.

It’s one of the reason The Muppets works so well, as it realises that Kermit & co. live in a netherworld between children’s and adult’s entertainment, where nostalgia is as important as silly jokes for kids. Likewise it acknowledges that part of the reason for the characters’ success is the fine line they walk between absurdity and realism, which works due to an absolute commitment to the idea Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear are real, while everything around them has a self-referential wink.
