A quartet of new posters for Captain America: The Winter Soldier have arrived, featuring Chris Evans as the hero, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Take a look at the final theatrical poster above, and the character posters below (click on them for larger versions).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.

‘Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is produced by Kevin Feige, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely, and stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Emily VanCamp and Hayley Atwell, with Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.’

It’s out in the UK on March 26, 2014 and a week later in the US.

Chris Evans & Sebastian Stan Get New Captain America: The Winter Soldier Pics

December 31, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

captain-america-2-empire1
Marvel is gearing up for another big year in 2014 with Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians Of The Galaxy. Now Empire has debuted four images from the former, giving us a great look at Chris Evans standing around looking all heroic, as well as Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Redford and Sebastian Stan.

Redford is coming in as someone high up S.H.I.E.L.D., while Stan was of course Bucky Barnes in the first film, but here returns, in modified form, as the titular Winter Soldier.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. The movie’s out in April.

New Her Trailer – Joaquin Phoenix & Scarlett Johansson in Spike Jonze’s latest

December 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Spike Jonze’s Her is already getting plenty of awards buzz, so it’s certainly worth taking a look at this new trailer. Joaquin Phoenix and Scarlett Johansson star in the film, with the trailer working almost like a short in its own right. It’s something slightly different and yet the same from Jonze, as he’s never really done a proper romantic drama before – even if this is a romance between a man and a computer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix), a lonely writer, purchases a newly developed operating system designed to grant the user’s every command. To Theodore’s surprise, a romantic relationship develops between himself and the operating system.’

The film’s due out soon. [Read more…]

New Under The Skin Trailer – Scarlett Johansson is an alien in Scotland

September 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Under The Skin is generating some interest at film festivals, with some pulled in by Jonathan Glazer’s unusual sci-fi film, while others remain unconvinced. Now a new trailer has arrived so we can get a feel for the movie ourselves.

Scarlett Johansson an alien on earth (in Scotland, no less), disguised as the perfect aesthetic form of a mesmerizing woman. She scours remote highways and desolate scenery looking to use her greatest weapon to snare human prey – her voracious sexuality. She is deadly efficient, but over time becomes drawn to and changed by the complexity of life on earth. With this new found humanity and weakening alien resolve, she finds herself on a collision course with her own kind. Taking her point of view throughout, the film presents a unique look at our world through alien eyes.

The plot is essentially Species but as the trailer shows, this is something stranger and more interesting. [Read more…]

New Don Jon Trailer – Fresh look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut

August 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been a lot of interest in Don Jon, largely because it’s the first film Joseph Gordon Levitt has directed. He also stars in the movie, alongside Scarlett Johnasson, Julianne Moore and Tony Danza. Now we can get a fresh look with a brand new trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Jon Martello (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a strong, handsome, good old-fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to “pull” a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn’t compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) is a bright, beautiful, good old-fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she’s determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset. Wrestling with good old-fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy in this unexpected comedy written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt.’

It’s due out later this year. [Read more…]

Her Trailer – Joaquin Phoenix & Scarlett Johansson star in Spike Jonze’s latest

August 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We haven’t had a feature length movie from Spike Jonze since Where The Wild Things Are in 2009, but now he’s returning with Her, which has just released its first trailer. Scarlett Johansson Replacing Samantha Morton In Spike Jonze’s Her

June 24, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Scarlett Johansson at The Avengers LA Premiere

Scarlett Johansson

It’s not often a movie can change one of its lead actors after it’s been filmed and just a few months before its due to open, but that’s what’s happened with Her. Director Spike Jonze has made a sudden casting switch, replacing Samantha Morton with Scarlett Johansson, just five months before the movie opens on November 20.

The film is about a lonely writer who falls in love with his new computer operating system, which is supposed to tend to his every need. Morton has been set to play the voice of that programme, but now Johansson is stepping into the role (and the fact it’s a voice explains how they can change things so late).

The cast also includes Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara, Amy Adams, Chris Pratt, and Olivia Wilde.

Spike Jonze emailed Vulture about the change, saying, “I think, unfortunately, it’s pretty normal in terms of my not-quite-painless-for-everyone-involved ‘process’ of discovering what the movie is.

‘Samantha was with us on set and was amazing. It was only in post production, when we started editing, that we realized that what the character/movie needed was different from what Samantha and I had created together. So we recast and since then Scarlett has taken over that role.

‘I love Samantha. I’ve been friends with her forever and I hope we make lots of things together in the future. Be well, Spike.’

Morgan Freeman Joining Scarlett Johansson in Luc Besson’s Lucy

June 18, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

morgan-freemanBack in April, Scarlett Johansson signed up to kick some ass for director Luc Besson in Lucy. Now she has some company as TheWrap reports that Morgan Freeman is in talks to join her.

Besson also wrote the script for Lucy, which is about a woman who is forced to become a drug mule. However, things go wrong when the drugs start to leak into her body, transforming her into an ass-kicking machine. Miraculously she can absorb knowledge instantaneously, is able to move objects with her mind and can’t feel pain and other discomforts.

So it’s like a superhero movie meets Crank (which was also produced by Besson).

Freeman will be back in wise old man mode asy a professor who has studied evolution and the chemistry of the brain, which Lucy thinks could help her. There’s no news on when the film might shoot.
