Will Stephen Amell Be A Real-Life Superhero On The American Ninja Warrior Course?

May 18, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Stephen Amell has spoken before about being a bit of a Ninja Warrior fan. But how would he do if he had to take on the course himself? On screen as Arrow he’s an action master, but is that just camera tricks and stunt people?

Well, for the US version of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, Amell is taking on the course, and a sneak peek of him has been released. And for those of you worrying he’d be all muscles and no skill, the man does good – at least as far as we get to see.

Amell’s entire run on the American Ninja Warrior course will air on NBC in the US on Thursday May 25th if you want to see the rest. Take a look at the sneak peek below. [Read more…]

May 3, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-2-moon-poster-slideTurtle Power is returning this summer with the release of New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which follows up the unexpectedly successful live-action movie from a couple of years ago. Now a new trailer and another poster for the movie has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael return to cinemas this summer to battle bigger, badder villains, alongside April O’Neil (Megan Fox), Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett), and a newcomer: the hockey-masked vigilante Casey Jones (Stephen Amell). After supervillain Shredder escapes custody, he joins forces with mad scientist Baxter Stockman (Tyler Perry) and two dimwitted henchmen, Bebop (Gary Anthony Williams) and Rocksteady (WWE Superstar Stephen “Sheamus” Farrelly), to unleash a diabolical plan to take over the world. As the Turtles prepare to take on Shredder and his new crew, they find themselves facing an even greater evil with similar intentions: the notorious Krang.’

The film will be in UK cinemas on May 30th. [Read more…]

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows Trailer – Turtle power with added Stephen Amell

December 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-2-trailer-slideThe live-action do-over of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles proved much more successful at the box office than most people expected grossing just under $500 million at the worldwide box office. That ensured Paramount would want a sequel, which will will hit cinemas next summer.

This time around the turtles and Megan Fox’s April O’Neil are going to be joined by Arrow’s Stephen Amell as hockey-mask wearing vigilante Casey Jones. He makes his first appearance in the trailer, which you can take a look at below.

The initial trailer for the first movie was widely derided and made many think the entire thing was a bad idea that should never have been attempted, but this time around the first promo is actually quite fun. Dave Green directs, with a June 2016 release date set.

First Look At Stephen Amell As Casey Jones In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

May 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

stephen-amell-ninja-turtles-spic1It was only a few weeks ago that Arrow’s Stephen Amell signed up to play Casey Jones in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, but he’s already on set and donned the characters iconics hockey mask, as proved by the first pic of him, as released by producer Michael Bay on Twitter.

Along with the hockey mask, Casey is carrying a hockey sticks, one of the weapons the vigilante character it known to use as he heads out onto the streets or New York to take on the scum.

Presumably as in the comics he’ll initially seem like a potential adversary for the Turtles, before teaming up with them, and also being a love interest for Megan Fox’s April O’Neil.

The film will arrive in cinemas June 2016.

Stephen Amell Up For Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 As Casey Jones

April 1, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

stephen-amell-shirtlessArrow’s Stephen Amell has just got something to keep him busy over his show’s summer break, as Variety reports that he’s signed up to ensure Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 is a little bit hunkier than it might otherwise have been. He’ll be playing a character many thought should have been in the first movie, Casey Jones.

It won’t be too much of a stretch for him, as again he’ll be playing a vigilante, but instead of a hood and a bow, he’ll have a hockey mask and a baseball bat. Assuming they stick with the how the character was in the comics, he’ll end up helping the turtles as well as being a bit of a love interest for April O’Neill.

There are no details about the story, but Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec are once again writing the script, with Earth To Echo’s Dave Green directing.

The movie will start shooting in a couple of months, for release June 2016.

Crush Of The Day: Arrow’s Stephen Amell Shows Off His Freerunning Skills

June 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

stephen-amell-shirtlessAnyone who’s watched Arrow will know the title character has to do a lot of running around and spectacular jumping. However as the superhero wears a hood, there’s always the chance it could be a stuntman doing it rather than actor Stephen Amell.

While Stephen has never been shy of showing off his incredible bod, he’s now let us have a look at him working out – freerunning style – which proves that if his show needs anyone to doing any leaping, dangling or generally being pretty acrobatic, he is more than up to the job.

It’s not too surprising, as Arrow isn’t shy of showing off Stephen doing some impressive shirtless exercise, as you can see here.

And if you’re wondering where Stephen is in the video below, he’s at the Tempest Freerunning Academy, which appears to be a great place if you like freerunning but aren’t so keen on being outside.

Take a look at some more sexy, shirtless (and nearly naked) shots of Stephen in our gallery here.

Arrow’s Stephen Amell Feels Winter Olympics ‘Marred by Homophobia’

February 7, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Russia must have been hoping the Sochi Olympics would be as much a celebration of their country as the London Olympics were for the UK. However it’s become an increasingly controversial event, marred the country’s increasingly homophobic laws, the government seemingly turning a blind eye to neo-Nazi groups attacking LGBT people and mixed messages over whether gay people would even be safe attending the games.

The homophobic atmosphere has caused many to speak out, including Arrow star Stephen Amell (who spent much of his early career playing gay roles). He took to Facebook to answer questions about his shows scheduling, saying Arrow is on a ‘mini hiatus so people can grit their teeth and suffer through an Olympic games marred by homophobia and mediocre levels of public interest.’

He later continued ‘Follow up point — Good luck to all the athletes who have worked so hard for so many years and essentially geared their entire life around this opportunity. Hopefully, a lot of them will use their success and a public platform to remind everybody this isn’t the stone age.’

It’s not the first time the hunky star has used Facebook to speak up for gay rights, such as during the US Supreme Court case over The Defence Of Marriage Act, when he said, “[m]arriage should be available to everybody. Some of the most loving, powerful relationships I’ve witnessed have been same-sex couples…Equal rights for all.”

Arrow’s Stephen Amell Is Happy For Gays To Hit On Him

November 6, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

View video: Stephen Amell Cycled His Way to TVIf you look like Stephen Amell you probably get hit on a lot, and especially with his past of playing gay role, it’s safe to say more than one of the people who’ve hit on him has been a gay man. And he’s just fine with that!

During an appearance on Chelsea Lately, the host tried to set things straight on his behalf, saying “You’ve played a lot of gay guys in your career. So I just want to clarify that you are straight and want people to know not to hit on you if they’re men.”

However Stephen quickly stopped her by saying, “People can hit on me if they want to!”

Let’s hope his wife is as happy about that as he is!

And if you’re wondering where you can see Stephen playing gay, check out Dante’s Cove and the US version of Queer As Folk. [Read more…]

Arrow – Season 1 (DVD)

September 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, Colin Donnell
Director: Various
Running Time: 943 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: September 23rd 2013

When the first promos for Arrow appeared, it wasn’t clear whether it was going to work. It looked a little po-faced and yet a tad silly, which wasn’t helped by the fact it’s based on a DC Comics character who few people know anything about. However once it started airing it revealed itself to be a surprisingly entertaining show.

After the sinking of his billionaire family’s luxury yacht, Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was presumed dead. However, five years after his disappearance he re-emerges, having been trapped on a remote island all that time. Everyone is amazed to see him, although some still haven’t forgiven him for being the arrogant prig he was before he disappeared. [Read more…]
