The Nun Trailer – The Conjuring universe is expanding again

June 14, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I severely doubt that when they were making The Conjuring anyone thought that a few years later it would become a ridiculously popular franchise with an ever growing parade of spin-offs. Now a new one is coming in the form of The Nun.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘When a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in “The Conjuring 2,” as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned.

‘“The Nun” stars Oscar nominated Demian Bichir (“A Better Life”) as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga (TV’s “American Horror Story”) as Sister Irene, and Jonas Bloquet (“Elle”) as local villager Frenchie. The cast also includes Charlotte Hope (TV’s “Game of Thrones”) as the abbey’s Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu (“Toni Erdmann”) as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons, reprising her “Conjuring 2” role as the title character.’

The movie will be in cinemas in September. Take a look at the trailer and teaser poster below. [Read more…]

Mindscape (DVD Review)

August 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Mark Strong, Taissa Farmiga, Brian Cox
Director: Jorge Dorado
Running Time: 99 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: August 25th 2014 (UK)

With a largely British cast, a Spanish director and a mix of American and European money, it’s fair to say that Mindscape (released as Anna in the US) is a pretty international production. It follows John (Mark Strong), a memory detective who is able to use technology to go into other people’s minds and see their memories. However following the death of his wife and then suffering illness, he’s no longer at the top of his game.

To help him out he’s given what should be a relatively easy assignment – to go into the mind of 16-year-old Anna (Taissa Farmiga) to find the psychological root of her refusal to eat. Her father seems certain his daughter is dangerous and needs to be locked up, but very quickly from what he sees in her mind, John begins to suspect there might be something else going on. Karen Gillan Has A Valley Of Violence Opposite Ethan Hawke & John Travolta

May 26, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Karen-GillanKaren Gillan’s film assault is picking up this year with Oculus, Guardians Of The Galaxy and The List. Now she’s booked another role as Deadline reports that she’s signed up for A Valley Of Violence.

Ethan Hawke, John Travolta, and Taissa Farmiga are already set for the movie, which will see Gillan as ‘Ellen, the older sister to Farmiga’s character. Together they run a hotel in the town where Hawke’s drifter seeks vengeance for the death of his best friend’

Ti West is directing the movie, marking a step towards the mainstream for the helmer of House Of The Devil and The Innkeepers. It should start shooing in late June.

Based on a true story, The Bling Ring follows a group of LA teens who in 2008 and 2009 became notorious for robbing the houses of celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Audrina Partridge, Lindsey Lohan and Orlando Bloom. Marc (Israel Broussard) is a lonely young man (who’s also gay, but the film doesn’t really deal with that) who finally feels connected when he meets Rebecca (Katie Chang).
