New Avengers Assemble Clip & Featurette

April 11, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After what seems like years of waiting, it’s only two weeks until Avengers Assemble finally hits cinemas on April 26th! Just in case there are one or two people left who aren’t already excited about the Marvel team-up – and to get the fan boys frothing at the mouth – a new clip and a featurette have emerged online. The featurette is essentially a trailer with a commentary, while the clip sees Tony Stark telling Loki that perhaps he should just relax and not be so evil all the time.

Actually Loki being a bit less evil would be good, as I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d like to see Loki: The Movie, and not just because Tom Hiddleston is cute!

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Marvel Studios presents “Marvel Avengers Assemble”-the Super Hero team up of a lifetime, featuring iconic Marvel Super Heroes Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye and Black Widow. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D., finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.’

Anna Paquin & Tom Hiddleston Join Black Wings Has My Angel

February 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

True Blood’s Anna Paquin and Thor’s Tom Hiddleston are both pretty hot right now, and according to ScreenDaily they’ve now signed up for the noir drama Black Wings Has My Angel for producer/star Elijah Wood and director Alfonso Pineda Ulloa.

The story is based on Elliott Chaze’s 1953 pulp novel about an ex-con who stages an elaborate armored car robbery with the help of a Mississippi call girl. Elijah Wood will also star in the drama, although it isn’t known what roles any of the actors are playing.

While not as famous as the likes of James M. Cain, Ellott Chaze is very well regarded by lovers of pulp novels and this will be one of the few time one of his tales will make it to the big screen. Shooting is scheduled to begin in September.

Tom Hiddleston Joins Jim Jarmusch’s Vampire Tale Only Lovers Left Alive

January 31, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It sounds a bit like an indie film fans wet dream. Ghost Dog and Dead Man helmer Jim Jarmusch teaming up with Tilda Swinton, John Hurt and Mia Wasikowska for a tale about vampires. The cast of Only Lovers Left Alive was also due to include Michael Fassbender, but with Hollywood knocking on his door for every role at the moment, he’s moved on and THR reports Thor and War Horse’s Tom Hiddleston is set to replace him.

Jarmusch won’t get around to shooting the movie until later this year, which is described as a horror drama that tells an unusual love story about two vampires who have been in a tumultuous relationship for centuries.

Hiddleston will next be seen in The Avengers, when hopefully he’ll be able to have more fun as Loki, who is perhaps the most interesting character in Marvel’s current film universe.

BAFTA Orange Rising Star Nominees Announced

January 11, 2012 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

The full nominations for the BAFTAs aren’t out until next week, but this morning the nominees for the Orange Rising Star Award were announced, so that the public can vote for the winner. So who’s up for the gong? Take a look below to find out…

Adam Deacon (Anuvahood, Kidulthood)

Chris Hemsworth (Thor)

Eddie Redmayne (My Week With Marilyn)

Tom Hiddleston (Thor)

Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids)

The nominees were whittled down from a longlist that also included Jessica Chastain, Felicity Jones and Jennifer Lawrence. It’s already been noted that it’s an all male list this year, and it does seem slightly odd that the three people on the longlist who aren’t in the final nominees are the women, especially in the case of Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence, who’ve had incredible years.

What’s less noted is that for the first time, there are absolutely no Americans amongst the nominees.

The winner is picked by the public, so once you’ve decided who you want to walk away with the award, click here to vote. The winner will be announced on February 12th.

Orange BAFTA Rising Star Longlist Announced – Vote For Your Sexiest!

November 25, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ok, ok, we know, the Orange BAFTA Rising Star Award isn’t about who’s the sexiest, it’s about honouring an up and coming young actor whose somewhat broken through in the last 12 months. Let’s face it though, they’re all hotties, and as this award is open to the public vote, you can pretty much guarantee that most of the votes won’t be given on pure acting merit (hence the impressive wooden Kristen Stewart winning a couple of years ago).

Of course, if you do decide to head over to the Orange Wednesday’s Rising Star Award site to say who you want to win, we recommend going for talent, but if you end up ticking Chris Hemsworth’s box just because he’s cute, nobody is going to know (I’m thinking of going fo Jessica Chastain, who put in remarkable performances in the likes of The Help and The Tree Of Life).

The longlist has been announced, and you can see all the entrants in our gallery below (click the pics to make them bigger). The first round of voting is now open, which will be used to whittle it down to a final five, who’ll be announced on January 11th. Orange customers will then be able to vote, and the winner will get their gong at the BAFTA Film Awards in February.

Russell Crowe May Have A Winter’s Tale

November 7, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Back in February, it was revealed that Oscar-winning writer/producer Akiva Goldsman (A Beautiful Mind, The Da Vinci Code) is set to make his directorial debut with Winter’s Tale for Warner Bros. Now things are moving forward, as THR reports that Russell Crowe is loosely attached to portray the villain.

The story, based on Mark Halprin’s novel, takes place at both the beginning and the end of the 20th century and centers on Peter Lake, a burglar who robs an Irish heiress and begins to fall for her as she dies in his arms. He comes to learn he has the gift of reincarnation, and is determined to save her.

Tom Hiddleston and Benjamin Walker are reading for the role of a criminal on the run. Elizabeth Olsen, Bella Heathcote, Gabriele Wilde, and Sarah Gadon are reading for the sick woman. It isn’t known when production will begin on Winter’s Tale, as everything is dependent on getting a decent enough cast together to secure final funding.
