It’s climbing season in the Himalayas and Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) is planning to lead a group of adventure tourists to the summit of Mount Everest. While he keeps telling them how dangerous it is and how many people physically cannot make it, many are gung-ho to get to the top. As they make their way higher up the mountain, Rob decides it’s going to be best to team up with a rival company, led by Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal), in the hope of keeping things as safe as possible.

After facing illness and other issues that prevent some of them getting to the top, a group of them make it, only to be hit by an extremely nasty storm, which threatens to ensure that none of them will make it back down again. New Everest Trailer – Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington & Jason Clarke go mountaineering

There’s no doubt that things are dangerous when you go mountaineering, and that’s certainly true in Everest, which follows the events of what was the biggest tragedy on the mountain until the recent Nepal earthquake.

Now a new trailer has arrived, which certainly highlights those dangers.

Here the synopsis: ‘Inspired by the incredible events surrounding an attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, Everest documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival. The epic adventure stars Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal.’

Everest Trailer – Jake Gyllenhaal, Sam Worthington & Jason Clarke head for the Himalayas

Following the recent tragedy on Everest caused by the Nepal earthquake, the marketing for San Andreas was deliberately toned down. You have to imagine there were a lot of serious conversations about this one, which is based on the true story of the greatest disaster to hit the mountain until this year.

This first trailer certainly highlights the danger while saying little about the tragedy, and the synopsis glosses over it too.

Sam Worthington & Robin Wright Are Going Up Everest With Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke & Josh Brolin

You’d think it would be a little late to add new cast members to Everest as it started shooting over a month ago, but Deadline reports that a couple of latecomers have signed on, with Sam Worthington and Robin Wright joining the movie.

They’ll star alongside the previously cast Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Hawkes, Jason Clarke and Emily Watson.

The film’s synopsis states, ‘Inspired by the incredible events surrounding a treacherous attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, EVEREST documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. Their mettle tested by the harshest of elements found on the planet, the climbers will face nearly impossible obstacles as a lifelong obsession becomes a breathtaking struggle for survival.’

Sam Worthington is playing New Zealand adventurer Guy Cotter, while Robin Wright is Peach, the wife of Beck Weathers (Josh Brolin).

Baltasar Kormákur (2 Guns, Contraband) is directing from a script by William Nicholson (Les Miserables, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom). Filming is currently taking place as and Everest base camp in Nepal, and will movie onto the Italian Dolomites and Cinecitta Studios in Rome, as well as Pinewood Studios in the UK.

First Look At Jason Clarke In Everest As The Movie Starts Shooting

It’s been announced that Baltasar Kormakur’s Everest has started shooting and with it comes the first image from the movie, featuring Jason Clarke battling the element on the slopes. Here’s the press release that accompanied the image:

Universal Pictures, Walden Media and Cross Creek Pictures, announce the start of principal photography on the Working Title Films production of EVEREST. Universal Pictures will release EVEREST in North American theatres in 3D and IMAX 3D on 27th February 2015.

Inspired by the incredible events surrounding a treacherous attempt to reach the summit of the world’s highest mountain, EVEREST documents the awe-inspiring journey of two different expeditions challenged beyond their limits by one of the fiercest snowstorms ever encountered by mankind. They are joined by Martin Henderson (The Ring), Emily Watson (The Book Thief), Michael Kelly (Netflix’s House of Cards) and Thomas M. Wright (television’s The Bridge). EVEREST will be directed by Baltasar Kormákur (2 Guns, Contraband) and produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, Cross Creek’s Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, as well as Nicky Kentish Barnes (About Time).

EVEREST is adapted for the screen by Mark Medoff (Children of a Lesser God) and Oscar® winner Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire). Kormákur’s creative team includes director of photography Salvatore Totino (The Da Vinci Code), production designer Gary Freeman (upcoming Maleficent), and costume designer Guy Speranza (The World’s End).

EVEREST will shoot on location in Nepal on the foothills of Everest, the Italian Alps and at Cinecittà Studios in Rome and Pinewood Studios in the UK.

2 Guns Red Band Trailer – Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg look hard

Mark Wahlberg reteams with Contraband director Baltasar Kormakur, and adds Denzel Washington into the mix for 2 Gun, which hits cinemas on August 2nd in the US and August 16th in the UK. Now a new red band trailer has arrives to show us what we can expect from the movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Academy Award® winner Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg lead an all-star cast in “2 Guns,” an explosive action film that tracks two operatives from competing bureaus who are forced on the run together. But there is a big problem with their unique alliance: Neither knows that the other is an undercover federal agent.

‘For the past 12 months, DEA agent Bobby Trench (Washington) and U.S. naval intelligence officer Marcus Stigman (Wahlberg) have been reluctantly attached at the hip. Working undercover as members of a narcotics syndicate, each man distrusts his partner as much as the criminals they have both been tasked to take down.

Josh Brolin, Jake Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke & John Hawkes May Go Up Everest

Everybody in Hollywood is gonna be going up Everest soon – or at least pretending to – with rivals project based on ill-fated assents of the mountain currently in the planning stages. Doug Liman is planning to direct one with Tom Hardy likely to star, while Baltasar Kormakur (2 Guns) is helming the other.

Now that latter one is filling out its cast. Deadline reports that Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Jake Gyllenhaal and Jason Clarke are all in talks for the movie. Christian Bale was previously being courted for the film, but he’s no longer involved.

The movie is based on an infamous incident in 1996, and will follow two separate groups who tried to reach the summit of Mount Everest, but the whole thing ended in tragedy. There’s no news on who the actors would play, but Bale had been set to play Rob Hall, the leader of a New Zealand group of climbers, four of whom never returned from the mountain. The plan is to shoot the movie this autumn.

Liman’s Everest film meanwhile is about George Mallory, who may have been the first to reach the mountain’s summit in 1924, but who never made it back to reveal if he had made it to the top or not.

Christian Bale Will Scale Everest In A Film Based On A Tragic True Story

christian-bale Christian Bale is hoping to go mountaineering, as Deadline reports that The Dark Knight Rises star is in talks to take the lead role in the true life drama Everest, for Working Title Films and Universal Pictures.

The movie is based on an infamous incident in 1996, and will follow two separate groups who tried to reach the summit of Mount Everest, but the whole thing ended in tragedy. Christian Bale is set to play Rob Hall, the leader of a New Zealand group of climbers, four of whom never returned from the mountain.

Baltasar Kormákur (Contraband) is set to direct, with Justin Isbell on scripting dutires.

This isn’t the only Everest project doing the rounds, as Sony is developing a movie about George Mallory, who may have been the first to reach the mountain’s summit in 1924, but who never made it back to reveal if he had made it to the top or not. Tom Hardy is set to star in that one – it’s Bane vs Batman once more, but they’re climbing Everest this time.

James Marsden On For 2 Guns

Enchanted and Hop star James Marsden is going a little darker, as Variety reports that he’s signed on to join Mark Wahlberg and Denzel Washington in Baltasar Kormakur’s upcoming thriller, 2 Guns.

Based on the comics by Steven Grant, 2 Guns follows a DEA agent and a Naval Intelligence officer (Wahlberg and Washington) who unknowingly go undercover to investigate each other. The pair find themselves involved with a heist and are told they are stealing from the mob, but the truth is that they have actually stolen from the CIA. Paula Patton will play the project’s female lead, while Bill Paxton is a high ranking CIA operative.

Marsden has signed up to be a naval commander, although there’s no news on exactly how he will fit into the plot.
