New The Finest Hours Trailer – Chris Pine and co. face off against a mighty storm

November 11, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

finest-hours-trailer-slideChris Pine, CaseyAflleck, Ben Foster, Holliday Grainger and Eric Bana are getting heroic in the true-life tale with The Finest Hours, which now has a new trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In February of 1952, one of the worst storms to ever hit the East Coast struck New England, damaging an oil tanker off the coast of Cape Cod and literally ripping it in half. On a small lifeboat faced with frigid temperatures and 70-foot high waves, four members of the Coast Guard set out to rescue the more than 30 stranded sailors trapped aboard the rapidly-sinking vessel. “The Finest Hours” is the story of their heroic mission, which is still considered the greatest small boat rescue in Coast Guard history.’

Disney will release the movie in cinemas early next year.

The Finest Hours Trailer – Chris Pine, Ben Foster & Eric Bana deal with the ultimate storm

July 8, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

finest-hours-trailer-slideChris Pine hasn’t had a huge amount of luck as a leading man outside the Star Trek franchise – and in his case it really does seem like bad luck, as he is pretty good. He’ll be hoping for a hit with The Finest Hours, which looks like it’ll be mixing action, pathos and a bit of a period feel.

August 8, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

April 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Most recently his attempt to kickstart the Jack Ryan movies faltered on its it release. However he’s certainly not giving up, with THR reporting that he’s now in talks to star in Disney’s Coast Guard drama, The Finest Hours.

Million Dollar Arm Trailer – Jon Hamm heads for India to attract baseball talent

December 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jon Hamm is leaving the world of 60s advertising and heading into the world of sports for Disney’s Million Dollar Arm. Now we can get a look at the upcoming movie with a trailer.

Here’s the official synopsis: ‘Based on a true story, the film follows JB Bernstein (Hamm), a once-successful sports agent who now finds himself edged out by bigger, slicker competitors. He and his partner Aash (Mandvi) will have to close their business down for good if JB doesn’t come up with something fast. Late one night, while watching cricket being played in India on TV, JB comes up with an idea so radical it just might work. Why not go to there and find the next baseball pitching sensation? Setting off for Mumbai with nothing but a gifted but cantankerous scout (Arkin) in tow, JB stages a televised, nationwide competition called “Million Dollar Arm” where 40,000 hopefuls compete before two 18-year-old finalists, Rinku and Dinesh (Sharma, Mittal), emerge as winners. JB brings them back to the United States to train with legendary pitching coach Tom House (Paxton). The goal: get the boys signed to a major league team.’

The movie is currently due out in May 2014. [Read more…]

Craig Gillespie Mulls Directing Jon Hamm In Million Dollar Arm

October 23, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Craig Gillespie had a big indie success with Lars & The Real Girl in 2007, but his feature film follow-up, Fright Night, wasn’t so popular. Now he’s plotting another movie as Variety reports that he is in talks to join Disney’s real-life baseball drama Million Dollar Arm.

Back in May Jon Hamm signed up to star in the movie, playing sports agent J.B. Bernstein, who discovered professional pitchers Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel through a reality show in India. The two imports became the first Indian players to get signed by pro baseball teams when they got contracts with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Tom McCarthy (Win Win) penned the script with Mark Ciardi, Gordon Gray, Palak Patel and Joe Roth producing. It isn’t clear when the movie might shoot.

Will Ferrell Flick Flamingo Thief Gets Director Craig Gillespie

July 3, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Fright Night director Craig Gillespie is in negotiations to direct Flamingo Thief for Ben Stiller’s Red Hour Films. The movie already has Will Ferrell attached to star in what could be an interestingly quirky film.

Ferrell will play the title character, a distraught lawyer who becomes obsessed with stealing pink flamingos from his neighbuors, after his wife leaves him for another man.

Michael LeSieur (You, Me and Dupree) wrote the screenplay, which landed on the 2011 Black List. The script is adapted from Susan Trott’s novel of the same name.

It isn’t known when the movie might shoot. (Source: Variety)
