First Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Featuring Jennifer Lawrence & Liam Hemsworth Arrives

Yesterday the first The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 poster arrives, which suggested the rebels really want to destroy President Snow, and now it’s been followed by the first image, with rumours that a trailer will be coming next week.

The pic shows Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Messalla (Evan Ross) and Finnick (Sam Claflin) apparently in battle against the Capitol.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.

‘THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY PART 2 is released in UK cinemas on 19th November 2015.’

President Snow Gets Smashed In A New The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Poster

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, Katniss and co. aren’t suddenly going to become massive fans of President Snow, so seeing the statue of him above smashed to pieces isn’t a shock.

First Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Poster & Teaser Revealed

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 may have only just arrived on DVD, but Lionsgate is already thinking to the future and the release of the final film in the series later this year.

They’ve now released the first poster and teaser/logo for the film (via EW), and it probably won’t be a shock to find that it’s reminiscent of a lot of the earlier films, with an image of a Mockingjay, but taken from a slightly different angle.

It’s a good reminder though – as if we needed it – that later this year we’ll be able to see what happens to Katniss and her allies as they go up against the evil Capitol in a final showdown.

Mockingjay Part 2 will be in cinema November 20th. [Read more…]

Mockingjay was always going to have a struggle, despite the success of the previous movies. Anyone who’s read the books will know that the third instalment is rather different from the earlier two, not least because there’s no Hunger Games arena and things get pretty dark and glum. Many also wondered whether there was enough material to make two films out of it, or if this gambit to get more cash from the Panem cow was a stretch too far.

It’s pleasing to see then that Mockingjay Part 1 is pretty good. Quite how good it is is difficult to say at the moment, as it’s tough to escape the feeling that this is a long build-up to Part 2, and it’s only going to be with the hindsight of the final instalment that we’ll really be able to properly judge. Jennifer Lawrence Is Going On The Dive With Hunger Games Director Francis Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence must have enjoyed working with Francis Lawrence on the Hunger Games sequels, as she’s now onboard for his new movie, which also has James Cameron attached to produce.

TheWrap says that Lawrence will Audrey Mestre in the free diving biopic, ‘who died during an attempt to beat her own world record of 557.7 feet. (Francisco) Ferraras paid tribute to his late wife by diving to the same depth in an attempt that was filmed by Cameron.’

Cameron has been eyeing a biopic of Mestre for some time and even flirted with directing it himself. However he’s now passed the reins to Lawrence, although it’s not clear when it will shoot.

Watch The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 World Premiere Livestream

The stars of the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 are gearing up for the movie’s World Premiere in London’s Leicester Square, and Lionsgate is allowing us all to share in the action with the livestream of all the red carpet action, which you can watch below.

Those putting on their best clothes and head for London’s West End include Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Natalie Dormer, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Donald Sutherland, Stanley Tucci, Jeffrey Wright, Jena Malone and director Francis Lawrence.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage. Final The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 Trailer – Back into the world of Katniss and the Capitol

In less than a month The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is due to hit cinemas and there’s little doubt it’ll be a big hit. However as it marks a change for the franchise, so Lionsgate are keen to ensure fans are kept excited.

Now the final trailer has arrived, which may be fairly short but does a great job of setting up the drama and suggesting that now the whole of Panem is the arena.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The worldwide phenomenon of The Hunger Games continues to set the world on fire with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1, which finds Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in District 13 after she literally shatters the games forever. Under the leadership of President Coin (Julianne Moore) and the advice of her trusted friends, Katniss spreads her wings as she fights to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) and a nation moved by her courage. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 is directed by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by Danny Strong and Peter Craig and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the third in a trilogy written by Suzanne Collins that has over 65 million copies in print in the U.S. alone.’

Katniss Gets Her Final Hunger Games: Mockingjay Poster

The marketing for Hunger Games: Mockingjay has certainly been pretty cool, and it continues with the release of the final Katniss poster, where she gets to show off why she really is the Mockingjay.

The poster comes with the news that the full trailer will be here in five days time.

In Mockingjay Part 1, Revolution seems inevitable, but Katniss still isn’t sure if she wants to be the public face of it, even if the Districts do need someone to rally around.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is due out November 20th, 2014, with the final film (until an inevitable further sequel or spin-off is announced), The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, out the same time the following year.

Liam Hemsworth & The Rebel Warriors Get The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Posters

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has had some great marketing so far, and that continues with a set of character posters for the film’s ‘Rebel Warriors’ that have arrived via Wired.

Fans will recognise Liam Hemsworth as Gale, with the series of images also include Cressida (Natalie Dormer), Messalla (Evan Ross), the brothers Castor (Wes Chatham) and Pollux (Elden Henson), and Boggs (Mahershala Ali).

They all end up aiding Katniss who is pushed to the forefront of the rebellion against the Capitol, whether she wants that job of not.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 is due out in November, with Part 2 coming a year later.
