Star Wars VII Eyes Spring 2014 Shoot, Avatar 2 & 3 May Film Then Too

May 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

star-wars-phantom-menace-3d-poster3When Disney bought Lucasfilm they announced Star Wars Episode VII would come in 2015. Now it seems they’re firming up plans, with producer Bryan Burk revealing to Collider, during an interview for Star Trek Into Darkness, that the plan is to shoot early next year.

He says, “We’re progressing on a schedule to hopefully begin next year, or the beginning of next year, and the location is still kind of floating around in the air all depending on script and a whole bunch of other issues. As I just said, everything is kind of a free-flowing thing, and when we feel like the story level on this script and everything is really coming together and schedules are all working and pieces line up, we prowl ahead, and Star Wars will be no different.”

Rumours last week suggested it would shoot in the UK, but Burk’s comments suggest that hasn’t been set in stone. Wherever it films, Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher should all return, so we can catch up with their characters after Return Of The Jedi.

Star Wars isn’t the only much-anticipated movie that’s likely to shoot next year, as in another Star Trek interview, Zoe Saldana told Digital Spy that Avatar 2 & 3 will film then too. She says, “I think that they’re doing a part two and a part three and they’re probably going to shoot it at the same time. Because if we just do two and then wait, I’ll probably be 45 or 50 by the time we get to part three. It takes a long time, it’s a very hard process.”

Star Trek Into Darkness 3D Trailer – Take a look at Zachary Quinto and co. in the third dimension

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s just a week until Star Trek Into Darkness hits UK cinemas (with a US release the week after), and it’ll be screening in 3D. To give us a feel for whether Starfleet needs a third dimension, Paramount has released an official 3D trailer. So if you’ve got a 3D screen or a spare pair of red/blue glasses, you can take a look.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

‘With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.’

A few new posters have popped up online, giving us a look at Star Trek Into Darkness, The Hangover Part III and a kaiju vs. jaeger banner from Pacific Rim. They’re all pretty good, so click on the pics below for larger versions.

The Star Trek Into Darkness pic promotes the film’s IMAX release, and seems to show the Enterprise under attack from itself! The JJ Abrams film is out in the UK on May 9th and May 17th in the US.

The Hangover Part III is out May 24th, and sees the Wolfpack back in Vegas. John Goodman is the bad guy, who wants money from Ken Jeong’s Mr. Chow, with the guys getting caught up in the chase.

Pacific Rim meanwhile is Guillermo Del Toro’s movie which sees humanity fighting back against monsters rising from the ocean, by building gigantic, human-controlled robots. It’ll hit cinemas on July 12th.

Star Trek Into Darkness Clip – Should Chris Pine allow Zachary Quinto to die?

April 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first extended clip from Star Trek Into Darkness has arrived, which comes from early in the movie – indeed those who caught the IMAX prologue that was attached to The Hobbit will recognise much of the footage, although it’s been slightly tweaked for the final film.

It sees Spock stuck in a volcano and the only way to save him is to break the Prime Directive – which say Starfleet must not interfere in the development of more primitive civilisations. Will they break the rule to save Spock? Will he die? Why are Kirk and McCoy wearing shiny skin-tight suits?

We’ll be able to find out the answers when the film hits cinemas in the UK on May 9th and May 17th in the US.

Star Trek Into Darkness Viral Clip – Benedict Cumberbatch gets menacing

April 20, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The vid above is halfway between a trailer and a clip, but whatever it is, it’s very effective in suggesting that Benedict Cumberbatch’s John Harrison is going to be one of the most formidable foes the crew of the Enterprise has ever had to face. Things are going to get personal as he faces off against Kirk and unleashes destruction against Starfleet.

Here’s the synopsis: Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘In summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

The film is out May 9th in the UK and May 17th in the US. And as you may have noticed, there’s also a new Kirk character poster, which you can see above.

New Star Wars Film Coming Every Year From 2015

April 18, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

star-wars-phantom-menace-3d-poster3Disney has revealed just what a massive gamble it’s placing on audiences still be excited about Star Wars, as after paying $4 billion for Lucasfilm, it’s now planning on spending hundreds of millions more to release a new movie from the franchise every summer from 2015, continuing for the foreseeable future. Disney boss Alan Horn announced the news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be the first of those movies, and will launch a new trilogy that will be a continuation of the main story told in Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. The current plan is to bring characters such as Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia back, with JJ Abrams directing. The main trilogy will alternate every summer with standalone films looking at other parts of the Star Ward universe, the first of which will be released in 2016.

An young Han Solo movie and a film about Boba Fett are rumoured to be in the works, although there’s been no official announcement about there. It is also suspected that Yoda and Jabba the Hutt may get their own movies.

Star Trek Into Darkness Benedict Cumberbatch Character Poster

April 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

star-trek-into-darkness-poster-new4Paramount is counting down to the final Star Trek Into Darkness trailer by releasing character posters from the movie. We’ve already had the likes of Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto and the Enterprise crashing, and now it’s the turn of Benedict Cumberbatch’s evil John Harrison.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘In summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.’

As the trailers have shown, Harrison is adept at causing devastation, although there are still questions over his true identity, with some still suspecting he may be a new version of a classic Trek character. We’ll have to wait and see though. The film is out May 9th in the UK and May 17th in the US.

April 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Over the weekend, three new posters were released for Star Trek Into Darkness. One shows the Enterprise in deep, deep trouble, which as the last trailer revealed ends badly with the ship crashing to earth. The others are character posters, with Zoe Saldana’s Uhuru and Zachary Quinto’s Spock.

Last night’s MTV Movie Awards also brought us a new TV spot, which you can watch above. The film is out May 9th in the UK and May 17th in the US.

New Star Trek Into Darkness Poster Released As Advanced Booking Opens

April 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Star-Trek-Into-Darkness-Teaser-Poster3
The Advanced Box Office has opened in the UK for Star Trek Into Darkness, even though the film itself doesn’t open until May 9th. You can get you tickets at Odeon, Cineworld, Vue, Empire, Showcase, Picturehouse or from the official Star Trek Into Darkness website; http://bit.ly/Z38ExT.

Alongside that have come two versions of a new poster. The one above sees Benedict Cumberbath’s villain wandering through the ruins of London, while the one below – which as you’ll notice announces the pre-booking, mixes that image with some shots of Chris Pine and co.

So take a look at the posters and if you’re in the UK, book your ticket (I’m sure they’re available in other places too).
