A movie version of the classic children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day has been in the works for quite a while, with Steve Carell attached to star. Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right) was set to direct back in October, but after Fox dropped the project and Disney picked it up, she decided to step aside.
Now Deadline reports that Miguel Arteta (Cedar Rapids) is in talks to take her place behind the camera.
The book focuses on Alexander, a young boy who wakes up with gum in his hair, and as the title suggest, his day gets progressively worse and worse. Steve Carell is set to play Alexander’s father.
The plan at the moment is to start shooting sometime this fall.
