New Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer – The Americans are getting in on Taron Egerton’s action

July 20, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Following the success Kingsman: The Secret Service, it’s no surprise we’re getting a sequel. That follow-up will introduce us to the American equivalent of Taron Egerton’s Eggsy, with the likes of Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges joining the throng. And Colin Firth’s back too, with Julianne Moore as the villain.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organisation in the US called Statesman. These two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…’

A new trailer for the movie has been released, which you can take a look at below, along with a selection of new character posters. It’ll be in cinemas in September. [Read more…]

Kingsman: The Golden Circle Trailer – Taron Egerton is back & meeting his American counterparts

April 26, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kingsman was a bigger success than most had expected. It was more than enough to get it a sequel, which will be released later this year. Along with the return of British agents Taron Egerton and Colin Firth (yes, he will return), we will be introduced to the Statesmen, the US version of the Kingsmen.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Kingsman: The Secret Service” introduced the world to Kingsman – an independent, international intelligence agency operating at the highest level of discretion, whose ultimate goal is to keep the world safe. In “Kingsman: The Golden Circle,” our heroes face a new challenge. When their headquarters are destroyed and the world is held hostage, their journey leads them to the discovery of an allied spy organization in the US called Statesman, dating back to the day they were both founded. In a new adventure that tests their agents’ strength and wits to the limit, these two elite secret organizations band together to defeat a ruthless common enemy, in order to save the world, something that’s becoming a bit of a habit for Eggsy…

Alongside the returning Colin Firth, Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, will be newcomers Julianne Moore, Halle Berry, Pedro Pascal, with Channing Tatum, and Jeff Bridges [Read more…]

First Look At Kingsman: The Golden Circle Adds Channing Tatum, Halle Berry & Jeff Bridges

April 14, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kingsman was a bigger success than most had expected. It was more than enough to get it a sequel, which will be released later this year. Along with the return of British agents Taron Egerton and Colin Firth (yes, he will return), we will be introduced to the ‘Golden Circle’, the US version of the Kingsmen.

That includes Channing Tatum, Halle Berry and Jeff Bridges joining the movie, to mix things up a little. We’ve now got our first look at them in the movie, with the release of some pics via EW. You can take a look at them below.

The film will see them teaming up to take on a new villain, played by Julianne Moore. Hopefully a trailer for the movie will arrive soon. [Read more…]

Channing Tatum Up For Kingsman: The Golden Circle

April 14, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

channing-tatumThe casting news on Kingsman: The Golden Circle is coming thick and fast, with the latest being that Channing Tatum has signed on for the movie. He joins the returning Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, as well as newcomers Julianne Moore as the villain, Halle Berry as the CIA Chief and Pedro Pascal.

Just yesterday we reported that Elton John was in talks for the film, and there are strong hints that Colin Firth will be returning too.

There’s no news on exactly who Tatum will play, although the poster in the tweet which Channing used to announce the news (which you can see below) has many speculating that he will be part of the American version of Kingsman. While there are few plot details available, it is known that it will involve the British agents coming up against or working alongside the CIA. And if that’s who Tatum is playing, it would appear he’ll have a Southern drawl.

Shooting kicks off soon with Matthew Vaughn once more directing. It’ll be in cinemas next year. [Read more…]

Elton John Sought For Mystery Role In Kingsman: The Golden Circle

April 13, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kingsman-2-poster-slideOver the years Elton John has done a tiny bit of acting, but it looks like he may be adding to his thespian resume, as THR reports he’s in talks for a role in Kingsman: The Golden Circle. However, at the moment the part he would be playing is being kept a secret. THR suggests he may be playing himself.

He’ll join the returning Taron Egerton and Mark Strong, as well as newcomers Julianne Moore as the villain, Halle Berry as the CIA Chief and Pedro Pascal. The recent poster, which you can see below, also hints that Colin Firth will be back, which will be a surprise to many who watched the first movie.

Matthew Vaughn will once more direct, with filming due to kick off soon in London. The film will be in cinemas next year. [Read more…]

Julianne Moore May Be Kingsman 2’s Villain

February 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

julianne-moore

The always excellent Julianne Moore might be bringing out her villainous side soon, as THR reports she’s been offered the bad guy role in Kingsman 2. Assuming she does sign up, Taron Egerton will be back in action trying to stop her.

There’s not too much info on the plot, and nothing about who Moore would be playing. However, in interviews Egerton has enthused about the script, and suggested the new villain is just a good, if not better, than Samuel L. Jackson in the first movie.

It’ not too surprising that Colin Firth won’t be back, but Matthew Vaughn will once more direct. The film will shoot this summer, with a June 16th, 2017 release date already set.

Kingsman’s Matthew Vaughn Takes On I Am Pilgrim

September 30, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matthew-vaughnKick Ass & Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn is teeing up a new movie, as THR reports that he’s set to direct and produce an adaptation of Terry Hayes’ novel I Am Pilgrim.

MGM is backing the movie, with Hayes writing the script himself (he’s a former screenwriter himself, having penned two of the Mad Max movies, mong others), the novel ‘follows “Pilgrim,” code name for a man who doesn’t exist. The adopted son of a wealthy American family, he once headed up a secret espionage unit for U.S. intelligence. Now in anonymous retirement, he is called upon to lend his expertise to an unusual investigation but ultimately becomes caught in a terrifying race against time to save America from a cunning terrorist’.

It seems MGM is hoping this can be the start of a major franchise (Hayes is already working on the second novel in the series), and believes Vaughn is the man to deliver it.

Matthew Vaughn May Helm A New Flash Gordon Movie

April 15, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matthew-vaughnMatthew Vaughn has been fully immersed in the world of comic books for the past few years with the likes of Kick Ass, Kingsman, and X-Men: First Class. Now he may being staying in that milieu but getting a bit more classic as THR reports he’s in talks to direct a new live-action Flash Gordon movie.

Alex Raymond created Flash in 1934 in response to the success of Buck Rogers. The comic strip follows the eponymous hero who gets stranded on the planet Mongo alongside lady friend Dale Arden due to the actions of Dr. Hans Zarkov. There he gets caught up in the battle against the planet’s ruthless tyrant, Ming The Merciless.

The plan for the new film is to make something fun but less camp than the cult 1980 movie, which mixed a Queen soundtrack with an edge of cheesiness to entertaining but rather bizarre effect. J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay (Star Trek 3) are writing the script, based on a treatment by the Bourne movie’s George Nolfi.

It’s not clear when we might see the film, but with Vaughn behind the camera it’d be one to watch out for.

Kingsman: The Secret Service (Cinema Review)

January 27, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Running Time: 124 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: January 29th 2015

The idea of updating James Bond and making him a younger character has been done before – witness the Alex Cross films and even Jason Bourne. Matthew Vaughan’s attempt, with a script by Jane Goldman, could have worked in theory, but it doesn’t, because of disastrous shifts in tone, and dreadfully cynical product placements. Director Vaughan seems to have become so carried away with his Kick-Ass franchise that he has transposed the idea to Britain, but used pretty much the same formula. The result leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth, which is a shame, because there are a few strengths on display here. [Read more…]

Kingsman: The Secret Service Red Band Trailer – Colin Firth gets in on the action in Matthew Vaughn’s film

December 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kingsman-the-secret-service-slideFollowing Kick-ass, Matthew Vaughn is returning to the world of comic creators Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons with Kingsman: The Secret Service. With a late January UK release looming (and mid-February in the US), a great looking new red band trailer has now arrived, which you can watch below.

The film tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency’s ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius.

Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Samuel L. Jackson (Captain America: The First Avenger), Taron Egerton (The Smoke, Lewis) and Michael Caine (The Dark Knight Rises) star. It’s due out in the UK on January 29th, 2015. [Read more…]
