One Direction: This Is Us Motion Poster Debuts

UK bookings have now opened for the 3D documentary One Direction: This Is Us. To coincide with that announcement, a motion version of the poster has debuted, which you can see above. So get your fill of the boys in action, ahead of the release of the doc on August 29th.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Acclaimed documentary filmmaker and Academy Award® nominee Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) is directing ONE DIRECTION: THIS IS US, which Sony Pictures Releasing will rollout worldwide starting on August 30th. TriStar Pictures will release the film in the US on August 30th as well.’

Fresh One Direction: This Is Us Trailer – The boys can’t help but get shirtless and slightly homoerotic

Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me) has been following the One Direction Boys around for This Is Us.

As you probably know, One Direction – Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson – were discovered by Simon Cowell on the The X Factor in 2010. The band quickly gained a following to become one of the competition’s all-time most popular acts, finishing in the final three and garnering a gigantic and loyal fanbase along the way. In March 2012, One Direction’s debut album, Up All Night, made US history, as it was the first time a UK group’s debut album entered the U.S. Billboard 200 chart at No. 1. The band has now sold over 29 million records worldwide.

There’s a lot of love out there for the boys, which Sony Pictures is hoping will follow-them into cinemas for this mix of concert footage and behind-the-scenes look at the lads’ lives. It’ll hit UK cinemas on August 29th. [Read more…]

One Direction: This Is Us Poster Debuts – The 1D boys are coming to cinemas this summer

one-direction-this-is-us-posterThere’s no doubt that One Direction are popular all over the world, but we’ll have to wait and see whether that translates into big box office for a 3D concert movie/documentary about them, This Is Us. Now a poster for the film has arrived, which features pictures of the lads, with a background made up of hundreds of images of their devoted fans.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been flooding the official site and submitting photos since February in the hopes that their snapshot will be featured in the movie poster.  The tribute poster also, apparently, “comes to life” when fans use their smart phones to scan the Zapcode on the poster unlocking an augmented reality experience and exclusive video content of the band.  The Zappar app is free and available for download in the App Store or Google Play.

A digital version of the poster, which will include even more fan photos within the mosaic, will launch online in early May at http://www.1dthisisus-movie.com/. Participants will be able to locate and share their photo across multiple social networks.  The movie is directed by acclaimed documentary filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (Super Size Me), and will hit cinemas in the UK on August 29th and in the U.S. on Friday, August 30th.

One Direction Getting A 3D Film From Morgan Spurlock

Morgan Spurlock is best known for his documentaries such as Super Size Me and The Greatest Movie Ever Sold, however now he’s heading for something a little more musical, as it’s been announced that he’ll direct a 3D film ‘showcasing’ the pop sensation, One Direction. A release date of August 30th, 2013 has already been set.

Here’s what Morgan Spurlock had to say about the project, “This is an incredible opportunity and an amazing moment in time for the band. To capture this journey and share it with audiences around the world will be an epic undertaking that I am proud to be a part of.”

Producer Simon Cowell also released a statement regarding this new movie, “I’m delighted we’re making this film and Morgan is the perfect person to give that access-all-areas, behind-the-scenes look into what it’s like to be One Direction today. What the band have achieved is incredible, they and their fans have made history around the world – this is for them.”

What hasn’t been revealed is exactly what the movie will be. While there will almost undoubtedly be a lot of music, whether it’ll mainly be a concert movie, something more about the boys themselves, or indeed a Beatles style semi-fictional effort isn’t clear. I’m sure we’ll find out soon.

Mansome Trailer – Morgan Spurlock takes on male grooming

It’s difficult not to feel Morgan Spurlock has been slightly coasting on the success of Super Size me for the past decade, with a series of increasingly unfocussed documentaries. However we’ll have to hope Mansome is a return to form. The film look at men’s identity in the 21st century. Models, actors, experts and comedians weigh in on what it is to be a man in a world where the definition of masculinity has become as diverse as a hipster’s facial hair in Williamsburg. The hilarious follicles of men’s idiosyncratic grooming habits are thoroughly combed over as men finally take a long hard look in the mirror. It should be out later this year.
