First Look At Stranger Things’ David Harbour As A Muscly, Shirtless Rebooted Hellboy

September 16, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Quite a few people were annoyed a couple of months ago when it was revealed that any faint hopes that Ron Perlman and Guillermo Del Toro would complete their Hellboy trilogy had been extinguished, as the character was getting a film reboot with Stranger Things star David Harbour as the good-guy demon.

Now the first look at the actor in character has been released, showing that while there are definitely differences, they haven’t strayed too far from the look Perlman and Del Toro went with.

There will be other differences too, as Neill Marshall is directed, and we’ve been promised that this time around the movie will be more violent and ‘R’ rated. Harbour himself released the image on Twitter, along with the message, ‘Please allow to introduce myself, I’m a man of wealth and taste…’.

Alongside Harbour, Ian McShane will play Hellboy’s adoptive human father, Trevor Bruttenholm, while Milla Jovovich will be the movie’s main villain, the Blood Queen. No release date has been set as yet, but expect it sometime in 2018, or early 2019. [Read more…]

Milla Jovovich Will Be Getting Villainous In The Hellboy Reboot

August 8, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After battling with the advanced AI the White Queen in the Resident Evil movies, Milla Jovovich will be becoming a Blood Queen for the planned reboot of Hellboy. As that name suggests, she will be the villain of the piece.

She joins David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Hellboy, with Ian McShane recently signing on as the big, red demon’s protector and mentor, Professor Broom, and Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) in talks to direct. It also looks like the film may be called Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, as that was included in Deadline’s first version of their story about Jovovich’s casting, although it was hastily removed.

The movie should start shooting in September, so expect to see it sometime in 2018 or early 2019. Neil Marshall (The Descent, Dog Soldiers) is set to direct from a script by Aron Coleite, Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.

Neil Marshall Plans To Helm Troll Hunter Remake

September 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

neil-marshall-pic1Back in 2010, many were impressed by the Norwegian found footage fantasy horror Troll Hunter. The film quickly ignited Hollywood interest, with Chris Columbus signing on to produce a remake in June 2011. Now the do-over is moving forward, with Deadline reporting that Neil Marshall has signed on to rewrite and direct the

The original movie, directed by André Ø, followed a group of students investigating a series of bear killings. They meet up with a mysterious troll hunter, who shows them the gigantic beasts who are really responsible for the killings, and are being hidden by the government in the frozen north of Norway. It’s not known how closely the remake will stick to this.

Production is scheduled to begin in early 2014, on a budget of $25 million. Marc Haimes (Men In Black II) wrote the original draft of the screenplay, but the filmmaker will do a director’s pass on the script before production begins in early 2014.

Viggo Mortensen May Take Last Voyage Of The Demeter

June 26, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Last Voyage Of The Demeter has been in development for several years, but got new impetus recently, when Neil Marshall signed on to direct. Now it seems it’s time for casting, with Bloody Disgusting reporting that an offer has gone out to Viggo Mortensen to star.

Bragi F. Schut wrote the original screenplay (since rewritten by Lowell Cauffiel), which expands on a small portion of Bram Stoker’s Dracula novel. The Demeter was the ship that transported the vampire from Transylvania to London, except the ship washes up on shore with only one survivor left. This story tells the tale of that voyage, where one undead passenger murdered the ship’s crew, one by one.

When David Slade was attached to the project, Noomi Rapace and Ben Kingsley were set to star. It isn’t known if the actors are still involved. There’s no news on when it might shoot (or giving it’s history, when the next director will come onboard).

Neil Marshall Directing The Last Voyage of Demeter

May 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For nearly a decade now, producers have been trying to get The Last Voyage Of The Demeter to the screen, with a seemingly endless list of directors coming and going from the movie, but no movie ever coming of it. They’re not giving up though, as after Robert Schwentke (Red), Marcus Nispel (Conan the Barbarian), Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters),and David Slade (Hard Candy) have all left the project, THR reports that Neil Marshall (Centurion, The Descent) has signed on to helm.

Neil Marshall Wants To Direct Hellfest

December 12, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Neil Marshall set the horror world alight with his first two feature length movies, Dog Soldiers and The Descent. However his move into the mainstream hasn’t gone as well, with Doomsday and Centurion both failing to excite audiences.

Now it appears he’s plotting his next flick, as Deadline reports he’s in early talks to helm the slasher flick Hellfest. If all the deal work out, he’ll be shooting the movie next summer.

The script, by William Penick and Chris Sey, is about a costumed killer who systematically slaughters the unsuspecting visitors who come to a theme park on Halloween night. It’s a pretty generic set-up, but if Marshall can get back to the simplicity that made his first two movies so successful, it could work fine.
