New Bumblebee Trailer – The popular Transformer is getting his own 80s-set movie

September 24, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Rather than just make more and more Transformers films, Paramount has decided it’s time for a spin-off, with the big, yellow Bumblebee getting him own film. Set before the recent set of robot movies, the new film will see what the autobot was up to in the 1980s.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.’

The film is due in cinemas just before Christmas. Take a look at the first trailer for the movie below. [Read more…]

First Look At Bumblebee In The Upcoming Transformers Spin-off

December 30, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paramount is hoping that despite an underwhelming response (and box office) for Transformers: The Last Knight, audiences still like the bots enough that they’ll turn up for a spin-off concentrating on Bumblebee. It’ll also be the first Transformers movie now helmed by Michael Bay, with Travis Knight (Coraline, Kubo & The Two Strings) taking the director’s chair.

The first official image from the film has been released (shown above, click on it for a larger version), showing Bumblebee in his classic Volkswagen Beetle form, alongside the movie’s human lead, Hailee Steinfeld.

Here’s the synopsis for what sounds like a more action-packed version of Herbie: ‘On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.’

Pamela Adlon, John Cena, and Stephen Schneider also star. The film is due out December 26th 2018.

Hailee Steinfeld Circling Transformers Spin-Off, Bumblebee

June 2, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Bumblebee has been a major part of the Transformers film franchise since the very beginning, helping add a sense of humanity to the giant robots, despite the fact he can’t talk normally. Now Paramount has decided he’s popular enough to get his own film.

THR reports that casting has begun on the movie, with Hailee Steinfeld in talks to play the lead role. Assuming she signs one, she’ll play ‘a tomboy who also holds a job as a mechanic after school’. That’s all the details there are for the plot, which is being kepy strictly under wraps.

Travis Knight (Kubo & The Two Strings) is set to direct the movie, with Christina Hodson (Shut In) writing the script. The Bumblebee movie is expected to start shooting soon, as a June 8th, 2018 release date has been set.

He tells the story of his heroic father, who was killed trying to save Kubo from his evil grandfather, the Moon King. Kubo lost an eye in the attack, but he and his mother managed to escape.

Kubo’s mother has told him there is one big rule – he must be home before darkness falls. However, while trying to honour his dead father the sun goes down and he comes under attack from his aunts. His mother uses the last magic to get Kubo to safety, telling him that his only way to protect himself is to find three magical pieces of armour that will make him nearly invulnerable. With his mother gone, Kubo’s only protection comes from Monkey, a charm that his mother brought to life as part of her final act, as well as Beetle, a man-size warrior bug they come across, who’s had his memory erased.
