Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Trailer – Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner & family have a sucky time

May 8, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After passing from studio to studio, Disney has finally adapted the extremely popular children’s book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, for the big screen, with Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner starring.

And now the trailer is here!

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Disney’s Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life-a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him.

‘He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn’t had one. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is directed by Independent Spirit Award winner Miguel Arteta (The Good Girl, Cedar Rapids, Youth in Revolt) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps/Jim Henson Company production.’

The film is due out in October. [Read more…]

Steve Carrell In Talks For Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

April 10, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Steve Carell wants to add another film to his already bust roster, as Deadline reports that he’s is in talks for the upcoming live action adaptation of Judith Viorst’s popular children’s novel, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

20th Century Fox is behind the family film, which will be the first live action take on the story after a couple of animated versions. Lisa Cholodenko, best known for The Kids Are All Right, will write and direct.

Steve Carell will play the role of Ben in this story about a young boy who endures a frustrating day that begins with him waking up to find gum in his hair and ends with him threatening to move to Australia. He just can’t seem to get anything right, with his teacher moaning about his picture of an invisible castle (actually just a blank sheet of paper) and getting into trouble for punching his brother, who calls him a crybaby after he gets pushed in the mud.

It’s not certain exactly who Ben is, as the story is naturally having to be expanded missaviely from the picture heavy children’s tale. It’s not certain when the movie will shoot, but hopefully they’ve already staked out a spot in Carell’s hectic schedule.
