That Awkward Moment (DVD Review)

June 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Imogen Poots
Director: Tom Gormican
Running Time: 91 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: June 2nd 2014 (UK)

Jason (Zac Efron) isn’t good with commitment. In fact he isn’t that good at knowing whether he’s dating someone or not, as they tend to emotionally break up with him when he just thinks they’re hooking up. His friend Mikey (Michael B. Jordan) is more settled down, with a wife, job and nice home.

Then Mikey discovers that his wife is cheating on him and suddenly he’s single. Jason and their third musketeer, Daniel (Miles Teller), vow to help him enjoy his newfound freedom, and they all agree to stay single and have some fun. Inevitably though (as this is a movie) Jason almost immediately meets Ellie (Imogen Poots), and after getting over an initial mistake where he thinks she’s a hooker, they start seeing each other. Daniel also has a new beau in the form of the rather posh Chelsea (Mackenzie Davis). [Read more…]

The Lego Movie Tops The US Box Office, With Monuments Men In Second

February 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

lego-movie-poster2In the run up to the release of The Lego Movie, many wondered whether it would work, but as the ecstatic reviews came in, in seemed Warner Bros might have something special. Audiences seem to have agreed as the film has had a huge US opening, taking $69.1 million in its first three days in cinemas.

It’s the second biggest February opening ever after The Passion Of The Christ and one of the best starts for an animated movie ever. With the film receiving huge amounts of praise it should continue to do well over the coming weeks.

The Monuments Men opened in second spot with $22.7 million. It’s the biggest start for a George Clooney directed film, although with a strong marketing campaign some had expected it to do better. It’s about in line with other recent adult dramas though.

The only other new entry in the top 10 was Vampire Academy, which placed seventh with $4.1 million. Like Beautiful Creatures and Mortal Instruments, it’s another film based on a popular young adult book series that many thought might have franchise potential, but with much buzz it’s sunk without trace.

Take a look below for the US box office top 10 for the weekend of February 7th-9th.

Rank Title Weekend Gross (millions) Total Gross to date (millions)
1 The LEGO Movie $69.1 $69.1
2 The Monuments Men $22.7 $22.7
3 Ride Along $9.3 $105.1
4 Frozen $6.9 $368.6
5 That Awkward Moment $5.4 $16.8
6 Lone Survivor $5.2 $112.5
7 Vampire Academy $4.1 $4.1
8 The Nut Job $3.8 $55.0
9 Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit $3.6 $44.4
10 Labor Day $3.2 $10.1

Ride Along Tops The US Box Office Once More, With Awkward Moment In Third

February 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ride-along-posterGoing into the weekend many had expected That Awkward Moment to top the US box office, but in the end Ride Along hit number 1 for the third week in a row. It took $12.3 million over the weekend, with $92 million in the bank so far. Frozen took second place with $9.3 million, thanks to the release of a sing-along version which pushed its gross up a little from last weekend.

Awkward Moment ended up in third spot with $9 million, less than the $10-$12 million that was expected. However as it only cost $7 million to make, it should still turn a profit.

The only other new entry was Labor Day, which took $5.3 million. It’s being seen as a bit of a disappointment, although the fact it got pushed from a prime Oscar-bait release to January shows the studio didn’t have a huge amount of faith in it.

Take a look below for the US box office top 10 for the weekend of January 31st-February 2nd.

Rank Title Weekend Gross (millions) Total Gross to date (millions)
1 Ride Along $12.3 $92.9
2 Frozen $9.3 $360.0
3 That Awkward Moment $9.0 $9.0
4 The Nut Job $7.6 $50.2
5 Lone Survivor $7.1 $104.8
6 Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit $5.4 $38.9
7 Labor Day $5.3 $5.3
8 American Hustle $4.3 $133.6
9 The Wolf Of Wall Street $3.5 $104.0
10 I, Frankenstein $3.5 $14.4

Take A Look At The Full Zac Efron That Awkward Moment Nude Scene

February 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

awkward-moment-zac-efron3
When the trailer for That Awkward Moment arrived, the internet almost exploded due to a brief shot of a naked Zac Efron laid out flat on top of a toilet. Well, with that movie hitting cinemas yesterday, the full scene has been released, in the hoping it will entice a few more hetero ladies and gay gents into cinemas.

So why do you need to be naked and horizontal on top of a toilet? Well, to pee with a boner, of course. Sadly the Zefron phallus doesn’t make an appearance (which shouldn’t really be a surprise) but the butt is certainly looking fine.

Take a look at the clip and a couple of stills from it below.

We can’t help wondering how many guys are now going to attempt this when the call of nature happens while they’re excited. [Read more…]

That Awkward Moment (Cinema)

January 29, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Imogen Poots, Michael B. Jordan, Addison Timlin
Director: Tom Gormican
Running Time: 94 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: January 29th 2013

Zac Efron is branching out from his heartthrob image and is now in the more adult, blokey phase of his career. To be fair, it’s a part that fits him pretty well, and That Awkward Moment, while clearly a vehicle for his talents, has plenty more going for it than just him. It’s bawdy, funny, charming and easy to watch, and gets to the point pretty economically. It’s only real weakness is the casting of Imogen Poots, but more of her later.

Efron is Jason, a book cover designer who is enjoying the life of a single man in New York. When his pal Mikey (Michel B. Jordan) announces he is divorcing his wife (Jessica Lucas) he, Jason and Daniel (Miles Teller) form a pact, to remain single to help each other out in bars, keep each other company and always be there for each other. Four New That Awkward Moment Posters Featuring Zac Efron, Miles Teller & More

November 25, 2013 By Tim Isaac 2 Comments

that-awkward-moment-poster2
The red band trailer for That Awkward Moment featured Zac Efron’s butt and him wearing a dildo, so it’s perhaps a bit of a surprise that he’s holding a cat in his new poster for the movie, which makes everything seem a lot more innocent.

He’s not the only one who’s got one, as there are character posters for Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan and Imogen Poots have got one too.

Previously titled Are We Officially Dating?, That Awkward Moment is about a groups of Manhattan friends (Zac Efron, Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan) who initially make a pact to remain single. The plot thickens when each friend falls in love shortly after the vow is made (wouldn’t you just know it!), and have to decide “So…where is this going?”.

The movie is due out at the end of January.

We’ve had a couple of trailers for That Awkward Moment, which surprised many by showing off Zac Efron’s showing off his butt and wearing a dildo. Now we’ve got a poster which is far more family friendly – but then, cinema foyer’s aren’t fond of showing off pictures of fake penises.

That Awkward Moment Green-Band Trailer – Zac Efron and friends have romantic problems

October 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Last week we had a slightly rude red band trailer for That Awkward Moment. Now we’ve got the green band version, which is still a little rude, but with fewer butt shots and dildos!

Imogen Poots Asks Are We Officially Dating? Opposite Zac Efron

November 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

British actress Imogen Poots got her first big break with 28 Weeks Later, and while she’s popped up in various films since, it’s only in the last few weeks she’s really become flavour of the month in Hollywood. A few days ago she entered talks to play the female lead in Need for Speed, and now Deadline reports that she’s also signed up to star opposite Zac Efron in Are We Officially Dating?

The film is about three male best friends who make a pact to remain single. The plot thickens when each of them meets their perfect partner. Zac Efron and Miles Teller are set to play two of the friends, while Deborah Ann Woll will portray the ex-wife of one of the trio. No details were given for Imogen Poots’ character, but presumably she’ll be the romantic interest for one of them.

Tom Gormican (Movie 43) is set to direct the movie from his own original script, which was featured on the 2010 Black List of the best unproduced screenplays. Shooting will start later this month.

Efron and Teller will play two out of three male friends who make a pact to remain single after they have women trouble. Inevitably, the plot thickens when soon afterwards, each guy meets his soul mate. Deborah Ann Woll will play the ex-wife of one of the men in this trio.

Tom Gormican is directing from his own original screenplay, which landed on the Black List in 2010. Shooting is scheduled to begin next month.
