Did Oscar Host Neil Patrick Harris Stuff His Tightey-Whiteys?

February 23, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

neil-patrick-harris-oscars-underwearPerhaps the most memorable moment of the Oscar ceremony was when a nicely buff Neil Patrick Harris re-enaced a scene from Birdman, stripping down to his underwear, wandering around backstage before appearing in a state of undress in front of the star-packed audience.

However from the moment it happened there were some wondering if he’d had some padding assistance, as he certainly didn’t seem lacking in the crotch department.

It hasn’t taken long though for Neil to step forward and defend his package, telling Live! With Kelly and Michael about how that skit came to happen. He said, “No enhancements, but I’ll tell you what happened. They always want you to be in funny costumes as the host… I’m not one for crazy costumes. I don’t love it, but the Birdman bit seemed funny, and so we thought it’d be a fun thing to do, and it seemed appropriate at the time.

“So we did the dress rehearsal, and I just had the pair of regular underwear on,” he continued. “But the lights! They see through things! So the Academy or the network or someone said we had to do something so you couldn’t tell my religion. So what they did was they had to take a second pair and sew it to the first to make it so that you couldn’t sort of see through it.

“But, no sock!”

So I suppose it was sort of padded, but not in the way we might expect. And for those still thinking there might have been a sock down there, you just have to remember that if you’re as skinny as NPH, it’s not too surprising it sticks out more.

You can take a look at Neil in his tighties and giving his explanation below. [Read more…]

Chatting With Last Straight Man Director Mark Bessenger About Male Nudity & Gay Double Standards

February 22, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Mark Cirillo in The Last Straight Man

Mark Cirillo in The Last Straight Man

Two best friends – one straight, one bisexual/gay – hook up just before the straight guy gets married. It’s the start of a decade long affair where the guys meet for one night a year to have sex, catch up and let loose. However what should be a secret but simple bit of fun soon becomes something more complicated for both of them.

That’s the set-up for writer/director Mark Bessenger’s The Last Straight Man, which shows us five of the mens’ trysts over a 12-year period. With the film coming to DVD (it’s out this week in both the US and UK), we took the opportunity to chat to Bessenger about his movie, how the actors dealt with the sex and nudity, and whether gay people have a double standard about ‘straight’ men having same sex affairs. Apropos Of Nothing: The Sexy, Naked Boys Of Bridgend Are Crowdfunding For Their New Calendar

February 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

boys-of-bridgend-2016-pic1There was a new naked guy calendar on the block last year with the arrival of the Boys Of Bridgend. After the success of that first calendar, which raised cash for the Everyman Appeal, to help fight the battle against testicular and prostate cancer, the hotties are returning and to get the 2016 edition ready, they’re hoping to raise £500 on Crowdfunder.

This year’s calendar will raise fund for the Ben Cohen Standup Foundation, which was created by former international rugby star, Ben Cohen to raise awareness of the long-term, damaging effects of bullying and homophobia and to raise funds to support those doing real-world work to stop it from happening.

“We’re really excited about working with this charity,” says Boys of Bridgend creator and photographer, Russ Hughes. “We wanted to make the new calendar as interactive as possible and really get to know the people who have been supporting us and to find out their views and thoughts, so when we asked people on Twitter and Facebook for ideas about who they wanted to see us support this year there was one name that came up over and over again, and that’s the Ben Cohen Standup Foundation to tackle bullying and homophobia. It’s a cause that really resonates with both our supporters and members of the team and the work they are doing, especially within the LGBT community is amazing. Support for us last year was overwhelming from all corners but it was the LGBT community who really got behind us and made us grow, so it’s fantastic that we can come full circle with this years calendar and give our support back to them by raising money for this cause.”

And it seems that it is a cause that hits home on a personal level for members of the Boys Of Bridgend as well. New recruit, Dan, who is joining the Boys of Bridgend for the first time this year, was full of praise for the cause. “We didn’t have anything in place like this when I was younger. I was teased for being ‘different’ and became isolated because I was scared of not being accepted. It was easier to keep quiet, but it didn’t make me happier. Youngsters are too often told to fit the norm and not to stand out or be different, so it’s great that organisations like the Standup Foundation are working so hard to tell youngsters that it’s ok to be different and that they don’t have to hide or feel scared or ashamed, and hopefully it will educate the tormentors into realising that we’re all the same, despite our differences. We should all strive for equality. Knowing that this years Boys of Bridgend calendar will have a hand in that meant that signing up to take part was a no-brainer for me.”

For now, the identity of the 15 men participating in this years calendar is being kept firmly under wraps, but if you want to help get the calendar made so that you can find out who the naked boys will be, check out the Crowdfunder page.

You can also still order a copy of the 2015 calendar here.

Crush Of The Day: Jamie Dornan Gets Naked On The Fifty Shades Set

February 12, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

fifty-shades-outtake6Jamie Dornan is a cruel man, as he had a clause written in his Fifty Shades Of Grey contract that despite all the sex we’d never see him full frontal (even though he’s done nude modelling before in which little Jamie was on display, as the internet will attest).

However that doesn’t mean we won’t get plenty of Dornan hotness, and to give us a little taste, W Magazine has gotten hold of a set of outtake images from the set, one of which features Jamie butt naked, getting up close and personal with Dakota Johnson.

I expect this will be one of the few times in your life where you’ll wish you were Don Johnson’s daughter.

The naked shot is from the movie’s first lovemaking scene, with things getting kinkier from there on in.

Fifty Shades Of Grey is in cinemas now. [Read more…]

Daniel Radcliffe Chats About Heading To Offbeat Rom-Com World With What If

February 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

daniel-radcliffe-what-ifDaniel Radcliffe has been acting since the age of 9, when he played the young David Copperfield opposite Maggie Smith in the BBC’s 1999 adaptation of the classic Dickens story.

But it was in 2001, when Radcliffe was cast as the titular boy wizard of HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE that he became an internationally recognised movie star. Eight feature films, adapted from the seven novels by JK Rowling, were to follow, grossing more than $7bn at the global box office.

With roles in DECEMBER BOYS and MY BOY JACK Radcliffe proved he was no one-trick pony. But it was his 2007 turn on stage – in Thea Sharrock’s West End revival of Peter Shaffer’s play EQUUS – that established Radcliffe as a serious young actor. Then 17, Radcliffe earned rave reviews for his haunting turn as Alan Strang, a role that required him to disrobe. The actor was nominated for a Drama Desk award for Best Actor when the play transferred to Broadway in 2009. [Read more…]

James Marsden Talks The Best Of Me, Wanting To Do Musicals & Growing Up In Oklahoma

February 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

james-marsden-the-best-of-meWho can forget The Notebook, a weepie that remains a firm favourite with lovers of romantic movies? James Marsden lost Rachel McAdams to Ryan Gosling in that 2004 gem but he has a second shot at romance with The Best of Me, another Nicholas Sparks adaptation, co-starring Michelle Monaghan. Here he chats about starring in the movie…

The Best of Me isn’t your first Nicholas Sparks movie. What is the appeal of his stories? Is it the human element after doing super hero films?
When I make my decisions about what roles I take, I have the tendency to jump all over the place and that is what makes it interesting for me. I don’t feel like I have done something like this since The Notebook. You also want to be aware of what type of films audiences like to go see. I guess part of me thinks there is a group of people out there that likes seeing me in this kind of role. That plays into the decision making a little bit. Beyond that, these themes are never out of style. These types of films are always something that people want to go see. [Read more…]

EE BAFTAs Red Carpet Arrivals Gallery – From Henry Cavill to James McAvoy & more

February 9, 2015 By Tim Isaac 2 Comments

baftas2015-mainWe were lucky enough to be on the EE BAFTAs red carpet, just next to the photographers’ area, which allowed us to get a good view of the arrivals and take a few candid shots of the celebs.

In fact it was an oddly entertaining place to stand, because everyone wants their photo taken and there are so many famous faces that they have to form a queue – it’s the movie star version of waiting in line at the checkout.

It meant that we were able to snap the likes of Henry Cavill and Rosamund Pike before they went full glare in front of a thousand lenses, when they were simply waiting for their turn.

We also managed to grab shots of many of the stars of Pride, including George MacKay, Freddie Fox, Andrew Scott, Imelda Staunton, and director Matthew Warchus. Also on hand to give things a bit of an LGBT flavour was Benedict Cumberbatch, who was nominated for playing gay mathematician Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.

There were a few oddities, not least that the most screaming and general hubbub didn’t come for a movie star at all, but was reserved for the arrival of David Beckham.

And I’m also very pleased to have managed to make my own Marvel/DC crossover by capturing The Hulk and Superman in the same shot (aka Mark Ruffalo and Henry Cavill).

Take a look at some of our pics from the BAFTA red carpet below: [Read more…]

Apropos Of Nothing: Colin O’Donoghue Gets Shirtless In Christina Perri’s The Words Music Video

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

colin-o-donoghue-shirtlessIf there’s one thing the TV show Once Upon A Time is good at, it’s casting hot guys, from Josh Dallas and Jamie Dornan to Sean Maguire and Colin O’Donoghue.

The latter of those has been making people salivate since showing up in The Rite and Storage 24, but despite his general hotness – and the hint of chest hair that got a lot of people excited – he’s generally been very rude and kept his shirt on. However he’s now given us a good look at that chest in the music video for Christina Perri’s The Words.

The song is pretty good but mainly it’s Colin and his slightly lumbersexual antics that kept us interested. And we can only thank the person who decided it was very important of O’Donoghue to take a bath during the promo.

You can take a look at the whole music video below. [Read more…]

Jimmy Fallon Reunites The Saved By The Bell Cast & Takes Them Back To Bayside High

February 5, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

saved-by-the-bell-reunionIt’s starting to make me feel really old that we’ve already reached the point where we can have nostalgia for the 1990s, but there’s no doubt that it’s good to see the cast of Saved By The Bell reuniting on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and heading back to Bayside High – complete with colourful 90s outfits – for a fun skit.

Well, most of the cast are there, as there’s the noticeable absence of Dustin Diamond’s Screech. However we presume Diamond would have preferred to be on The Tonight Show than facing charges for felony reckless endangerment and two misdemeanours following an incident at Christmas where he’s alleged to have stabbed someone.

But even without him, it’s good to see Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Tiffani Thiessen and even Dennis Haskins’ Mr. Belding. Sadly Lark Voorhies isn’t there either, but other than that it’s a great trip back in time, so take a look below. [Read more…]

James Franco Talks Being Thanked By The Ex-gay Michael Glatze (With Bonus Zachary Quinto Make-Out Video)

February 3, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zachary-quinto-james-franco-kissJames Franco has had a busy couple of weeks. He’s announced the cast of his adaptation of John Steinbeck’s In Dubious Battle, premiered his starring role in I Am Michael, and as you can see below, he got in a booth at Sundance with Zachary Quinto to have a make-out session.

He also took time while in Park City to talk about how he got an unlikely thank you from Michael Glatze, the man he plays in I Am Michael. It’s perhaps surprising as it chronicles how Glatze went from being a gay activist working to help LGBT youth to becoming an ex-gay poster-boy and married to a woman.

However PinkNews reports Franco as saying, “I haven’t had that many conversations with him [Glatze]… I met him in person for the first time here at the festival. He made a point to come up to me and thank me, and he said he loved the movie. I think it was very healing for him.”

The actor continues, “In a way, we had to show to him we were going to have a very even-handed, non-judgemental approach, but we also had to say to ourselves, ‘We’re not telling this story just to make Michael happy, we’re telling the story to get both sides.’ The best we could do was say to him, ‘We have good intentions. We’re not going to crucify or judge you but we also need to tell the story from the other side as well as the side you’re on now.'”

Indeed, many have expressed frustration at the film for how even-handed it is, with many reviewers seeming annoyed that it doesn’t completely skewer Glatze and vilify him after he turns his back on his gay life, with some even saying this lack of a strong pro or anti viewpoint could limit its success. It’ll be interesting to see how others react as the movie expands beyond Sundance.

Take a look below for Franco and Quinto having a snog. [Read more…]
