Idina Menzel, Jimmy Fallon & The Roots Do Let It Go With Kid’s Instruments

March 4, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We’ve gone a little Let It Go crazy at BGPS, as this is the third version we’ve posted in the 48 hours since its Oscar win (following the original and Matthew Wilkas’ farty take). However this one is certainly unique, as barnstorming songstress Idina Menzel and The Roots rock up with new Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon to perform the song, with the musical accompaniment provided by classroom instruments.

If you’ve ever wondered what an Academy Award winning song would sound like played on a triangle, glockenspiels, kazoos and bongo drums, here you go! However I doubt you’ve ever wondered that.

It makes for a fun rendition of the tune, and it certainly doesn’t put Menzel off her stride, whose lungs are as powerful as they always are. [Read more…]

Trouble For French Firefighters After They Post Shirtless ‘Call Me Maybe’ Lip Sync Vid

March 4, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Some people really have trouble seeing the funny side. That seems to have happened in France after a group of firefighters decided to have a laugh and shoot a lip sync video to Call Me Maybe – and just to add a little extra interest, they did it while half naked.

Unfortunately though they seem to have gotten into a bit of trouble over what was intended as as a birthday present for the firefighter’s friend Naninanounax. “We don’t necessarily want to put off a funny image of ourselves. It’s not in our best interest,” an unnamed source from management told France TV. “On top of it, they are at the fire station, using department equipment. It’s not appropriate.”

Personally we can’t see what harms it doing and it certainly made us smile – and once again, by people getting all pompous and disapproving of something, it’s gotten far more attention than it would have otherwise. [Read more…]

Gayby Star Matthew Wilkas Offers His, Err, Unique Cover Of Oscar-Winner Let It Go From Frozen

March 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matthew-wilkasLet If Go from Frozen has been called a lot of things – a coming out anthem, a ballad of empowerment, a tune that’s so catchy it can drive you insane.

However Matthew Wilkas, star of Gayby (and about 30 seconds of the first episode of Looking) has a slightly different take on what it’s all about.

He’s posted his idiosyncratic cover of the Oscar-winning song on Instagram, letting us know exactly what he thinks we should be letting go.

It’s certainly a different version and a little bit irreverent and rude, but it made us smile – even though we knew it probably shouldn’t. Take a look at it below. [Read more…]

Jimmy Kimmel Takes On Internet Memes With Star-Studded Oscar Parodies

March 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jimmy Kimmel loves his star-studded parodies and he’s lined up a great selection of famous faces for his post-Oscar skits this year, which imagine what would happen if internet memes became major Hollywood movies (and seriously, how long is it going to be until that’s not a joke?).

Oscar-winners and nominees have all lined up to have fun with trailers for movies based around Charlie Bit My Finger, Sweet Brown, David After Dentist and Keyboard Cat. The latter in particular is full of people you might not have expected to take part in this sort of thing, such as Kevin Spacey, Christoph Waltz, Ben Kingsley, Gary Oldman & Mandy Patinkin.

They’re joined in the others by the likes of Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Liam Hemsworth, Chris Hemsworth, Queen Latifah, Barkhad Abdi, Adam Driver, Matt Damon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Samuel L. Jackson and Seth Rogen.

And personally I’d love to see a feature-length version with Kevin Spacey as Amadeus meets Keyboard Cat. Take a look at them all below. [Read more…]

In Honour Of Its Oscar Win, Take A Look At The Full Let It Go Sequence From Frozen

March 3, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Some have been critical of Idina Menzel’s performance of Let It Go at the Oscars, saying she seemed too nervous, but if you ask us, we thought she knocked it out of the park. We did want to show you her Oscar performance, but the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Science is busy taking down all the versions posted on Youtube, so instead we thought it was a great opportunity to post the full Let It Go sequence from Frozen.

Understandably the tune has become a full-on coming out anthem, with it lyrics all about someone who’s used to trying to be good and fit it with what others want, but now they’re ready to be who they are no matter what anyone else said.

As millions already now it’s a real barnstormer of a song, so enjoy it! [Read more…]

First Look At Grant Gustin In Costume As The Flash

March 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Grant-Gustin-The-Flash
Fans of superhero series Arrow have already seen Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, as he’s popped up in the show, only to have had a terrible accident. However the plan is that he’ll get his own series as The Flash, after a couple more appearances in Arrow.

Now we can get a look at the fledgling superhero, as an image has been released of Gustin donning the famous Flash mask. He’s looking pretty cool, even if I’m not entirely sure about the need for a leather chin.

We should get to see him as Barry Allen in couple more episodes of this season of Arrow, although while the original plan had been to get him in the red suit by the end of his appearances in that show, it now appears we’ll have to wait for the autumn, when the first episode of a stand alone Flash series is due to air.

Before now Gustin was best known as Glee’s Sebastian, who tried to steal Blane from Kurt. However it looks like he’ll be straight as The Flash.

First Look At Douglas Booth, Sam Claflin, Max Irons & The Other Hot Boys Of Posh

February 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

posh-pic1-slide
In 2010 The Royal Court Theatre in London had a major success with Laura Wade’s Posh, which premiered at the venue and then transferred to the West End. Now it’s becoming a film and they’ve got some of the best – and prettiest – young British actors to fill out the cast, including Catching Fire’s Sam Claflin, Romeo & Juliet’s Douglas Booth and The Host’s Max Irons.

The first images from the movie have been released, which you can see below (click on them for larger versions).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set amongst the privileged elite of Oxford University, POSH follows Miles (Max Irons) and Alistair (Sam Claflin), two first year students determined to join the infamous Riot Club, where reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening.  POSH is directed by Lone Scherfig, who most recently helmed ‘One Day’, and the Best Picture Academy Award nominee ‘An Education’.  It is produced by Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent of Blueprint Pictures (‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’, ‘Seven Psychopaths’).

‘Screenwriter Laura Wade has adapted her critically-acclaimed play, with development support from the BFI Film Fund and Film4.  ‘Posh’ premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2010, before transferring to the West End.’

It’s due out in UK cinemas on September 19th.

The Final Member Trailer – The race to be the first human exhibit in the world’s only penis museum

February 28, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

I know a couple of gay guys who think their penis is so awesome it should be showcased in a museum (and if you think similarly, please be aware that you are probably delusional), but there is only one Penis Museum in the world, in Iceland, and at the moment it’s lacking a human member.

The documentary The Final Member takes a look at the competition to complete the museum’s collection and the representative of human male genitalia alongside naughty bits from hundreds of other mammalian species. And it is a race, as the doc follows two men who’ve lined up for the honour – one who’s agreed to leave his penis to the museum when he dies, and an American who’s so keen to donate, he’s willing to have his bits removed while he’s still alive. And in case you were wondering, yes, the latter guy is a bit odd.

You can take a look at the trailer for the unusual documentary above. The doc is in US cinemas & on VOD on April 18th from Drafthouse Films [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Scandal’s Scott Foley Gets Hot & Shirtless For Charisma

February 25, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

scott-foley-charisma2-slide
Ever since his early days as Cliff Elliot in Dawson’s Creek, Scott Foley has been immensely cute, something he’s kept through the likes of Felicity, Scream 3, The Unit, Grey’s Anatomy, True Blood and most recently Scandal.

It’s something US bedding and bathroom brand Charisma has realised as they’ve hired him as their latest celebrity face – and quite sensibly they insisted that to help sell sheets and towels he ought to take his shirt off. And for that we’re very grateful to them.

As Scott himself tweeted, ‘Although it may seem so, I don’t always work without a shirt. But for my new @Charisma campaign… I sacrificed!’

The Spring 2014 ad campaign featuring the 41-year-old actor officially debuts in the April issues of Elle Décor, InStyle and House Beautiful, but you can take a look at some of the images below, as well as a largely shirtless behind-the-scenes video.

The only thing we want to know is when we’ll be allowed to get into the bed next to him. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Hunky Fratboys Get Shirtless For A Charity Carwash

February 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

shirtless-frat-boys-carwash
Do fratboys actually do any studying? Probably not if this video is anything to go by, as it’s difficult to imagine they’d have enough time to get a degree and those muscles at the same time. Indeed, decent pecs seems to be one of the main requirements to be a member of the University of Miami’s Pi Kappa Alpha (Pikes) fraternity.

They’ve been taking off their shirts to promote their charity carwash. We’re just hoping they realised that making a video like this was more likely to attract horny gay guys than the lovely ladies they might have been hoping would turn up for a quick buff and shine (frats are ridiculously homoerotic places at the best of times, so maybe they genuinely don’t realise quite how gay this is – it’s just daily life to them).

It was all for a good cause though, raising money for the Wounded Warriors Foundation. Unfortunately though, if you were hoping to get your car washed by the hunks you’re out of luck, as the event took place last weekend. (Source: TheGailyGrind)
