Apropos Of Nothing: Fab Sexy Beards Cover Shoot

January 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

To beard or not to beard? It’s an age old question, and the guys over at Canada’s Fab magazine obivously have their answer – beard are sexy! We have to say, in the case of the guys they got for their cover shoot, they’re quite right.

Personally I quite like to have a beard, although I do start to look dangerously like a stereotypical paedophile after about a month of so.

The pics and vid also started me thinking – do generally hairy guys automatically like beards more than their less furry counterparts? Is it due to bear stereotypes? Or would the fur-less like to have beards, but a lot of them just can grow a decent one? Thoughts below please.

Captain America’s Sebastian Stan Gets Shirtless In Revival Of Picnic

January 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

See if you have the same reaction as I did to the video montage above of moments from the Broadway revival of William Inge’s Pulitzer-winning play, Picnic. Basically I went, ‘Oh look, Ellen Burtyn, and there’s Mare Winningham, this looks good’, then my brain merely went, ‘mmmhlimm’, at the moment Sebastian Stan turned up with his shirt off looking sweaty and rocking an impressive set of abs. I then began thinking of ways I can get to New York before the show closes on February 24th.

Stan is best known for playing Captain America’s best friend Bucky Barnes, as well as for appearing in Black Swan, Rachel Getting Married and Hot Tub Time Machine. He’s played gay a couple of times, in both TV’s Kings and as the son of a former president in Political Animals.

However he’s straight in Picnic, as Hal, an impulsive young man who becomes the object of two girls’ affection and gets into a complicated liaison with Madge. The role was played by Paul Newman in the original 1953 production.

Check out a few stills on Stan with his shirt off in the play below (via SuperheroFan).

Neil’s Puppet Dreams – Neil Patrick Harris wants a good alien probing

January 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Neil’s Puppet Dreams is back for another episode, this time with the narcoleptic NPH falling asleep and waking up strapped to an alien’s table, with three slightly furry aliens quickly realising they’ve taken the wrong type of person. However while many Americans take out insurance against alien abduction, Neil is very keen and wants a bit of probing.

But is it a puppety dream or not?

As always with Neil’s Puppet Dreams it’s a lot of fun and rather silly, so take a look. And if you want to see earlier episodes you can click here.

Jodie Foster Inspires Young People To Vaguely Come Out, Sort Of (Spoof)

January 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jodie Foster’s rather meandering ‘coming out’ speech at the Golden Globes has certainly provoked a lot of reaction, from those who are pleased she’s said something that seems to be an unequivocal acknowledgement that she’s gay, to those peeved that it wasn’t more straightforward and also at the anger she seemed to have towards saying anything at all.

It’s also provoked a humorous response from The Onion, who say her speech has inspired youth across the US to kind of come out in vague, meandering ways. It’s quite fun, so take a look above.

Crush Of The Day: Les Miserables’ Aaron Tveit & George Blagden

January 16, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Aaron-Tveit-and-George-Blagden
Les Miserables is keen to wrestle emotion from its viewers with its tragic deaths and heartfelt warbling, but I’m sure I wasn’t the only viewer to find a different kind of emotion rising when the student revolutionaries came on screen. Aaron Tveit’s Enjolras and George Blagden’s Grantaire in particular made overthrowing the government hot!

I also have a weakness for a guy who can sing, so for me they really are the full package.

Aaron Tveit is the better known, having played Trip van der Bilt in Gossip Girl and he was also James Franco’s lover, Peter Orlovsky, in Howl. Tveit’s done plenty of work on the stage too, originating the roles of Gabe in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Next to Normal and Frank Abagnale Jr. in the musical version of Catch Me If You Can.

George Blagden is more of a newcomer, having only graduated from London’s Guildhall School of Music & Drama in June 2011. He got the small role of ‘Soldier 1’ in Wrath Of The Titans before landing the meatier Grantaire in Les Miserables. He’s also shot The Philosophers and will be seen in the upcoming TV series Vikings. We also discovered the music video Left Behind which he appears in and which we’ve embedded below.

Watch Toy Story Done Live Action – Fans put together the movie with toys and stop motion

January 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Most people wouldn’t have time to remake the whole of Toy Story as a live action movie, but that’s just what a group of fans have done, retooling the movie with real people, toys, stop-motion and puppetry. Ity’s cheap and cheerful but a lot of fun and works surprisingly well.

The project’s Facebook page says, ‘The Live Action Pixar Toy Story movie, shot-for-shot, with real people and real toys. “TS Project” started production in late June 2010 by Jonason Pauley, (then 17), and Jesse Perrotta (18).’

It’s a shot-for-shot do-over that’s well worth a look, so have a watch.

Crush Of The Day: Alexander Ludwig

January 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Alexander-Ludwig-slideAlexander Ludwig may have started off as a child star in the likes of The Seeker and Race To Witch Mountain, but now he’s all grown up and turned many heads last year in The Hunger Games as tribute Cato (even if things didn’t work out too well for his character).

He may not have a new film out imminently, but pics have been spreading across the web this week of the 20-year-old looking incredibly sexy and ripped while on holiday in Hawaii. He’s also been rocking some of the pink-est swim shorts we’ve ever seen!

It seemed a good excuse to post some hot picture of the young Canadian, including some of the Hawaii vacation shots, along with the best from elsewhere (many from Ludwig’s own Facebook page). As he also works as a model, he’s not averse to getting his shirt off, and due to the fact he must spend huge amounts of time working out, he sure looks good.

This year we’ll be able to see him on Grown Ups 2, Lone Survivor and Final Girl.

Crush Of The Day: Jack Reynor

January 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Jack-Reynor-slide
I’m presuming UK film distributor Artificial Eye didn’t do a deal with Michael Bay, but it’s very serendipitous timing that the director has just announced he’s cast 20-year-old Irish actor Jack Reynor in one of the major parts in Transformers 4 only a couple of days before Jack’s starring role in What Richard Did hits UK cinema on January 11th.

Indeed it was What Richard Did that first got Michael Bay interested in the young man. It sees Reynor as the titular Richard, a ‘golden-boy athlete and undisputed alpha-male of his privileged set of South Dublin teenagers, through the summer between the end of school and the beginning of university. The world is bright and everything seems possible, until in one summer night Richard does something that destroys it all and shatters the lives of the people closest to him.’

We also couldn’t help but notice that he’s rather cute and so more than deserving of being our Crush Of The Day. Click on the pics of his below for larger versions. [Read more…]

Neil’s Puppet Dreams – Joe Manganiello crashes Neil Patrick Harris’ dream

January 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

The great web series Neil’s Puppet Dreams is back with a new episode, which sees Neil Patrick Harris falling asleep once more and dreaming in puppets. The problem this time is that his dream is so dull that his hubby David Burkta’s camp carnival of a dream crashes Neil’s.

There’s also the opportunity for a few cameos from the likes of drag artist Willam Belli, Andrew Christian underwear model Colby Melvin and Joe Manganiello of Magic Mike and True Blood fame! So take a look above.

You can find more of Neil’s Puppet Dreams on Nerdist’s Youtube channel.

Matt Bomer Gets Shirtless In The New Normal

January 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matt-bomer-new-normal
UPDATE: We’ve now added a video below of Matt being a ‘Shirtless surrogate stealer.

If Matt Bomer take an acting role and keeps his shirt on he’s doing a disservice to humanity, so we’re glad to see that during his guest spot on Ryan Murphy’s sitcom The New Normal, which aired in the US last night, that he not only got shirtless but also did some working out.

The New Normal, which starts airing in the UK tomorrow (January 10th 2013) on E4 is about a gay couple, Bryan (Andrew Rannells) and David (Justin Bartha), and the young woman, Goldie (Georgia King), who agrees to become the surrogate mother to their child.

Out star Bomer pops in episode 12 as ‘as Bryan’s ex, Monty, a legendary party boy the couple attempts to set up with Gary (Micheal Hitchcock) so that their lonely pal can start on the path to his own family. But don’t ever trust a guy named Monty! He has his own plans for procreation, and they just might include Goldie.’

The pic above was released by EW.
