Barbara Kopple is one of the most respected documentary filmmakers around, having won Oscars for both Harlan County USA and American Dream, as well bringing audiences the likes of Shut Up & Sing, and Havoc. Her latest movie is This is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous, which has just screened at Sundance and will be hitting Youtube Red in February.

The Chances has just debuted at Sundance, giving a welcoming audience the first chance to see Josh Feldman and his writing partner and co-star Shoshannah Stern’s five-part series. It’s a show that’s interested in intersectionality, exploring deafness and sexuality, which is currently being developed as a TV series.
Synopsis: ‘The Rocky Mountains loom over rural Fountain, Colorado, a farm town on the outskirts of the conservative Colorado Springs area. In a small duplex home, Kathryn, 27, a portrait photographer and Jeremy, 31, a former marine and full time student, give the “5 minute warning” for bedtime to their 5 kids: 8 Year-old Dakota, 6-year-old triplets – Coy, Max, and Lily, as well as little Auri, who is 3. The kids scream “Nooo!” – a familiar scene in millions of households across America.

Synopsis: ‘Jonathan is 23; he and his aunt, Martha, work on their farm. Jonathan also devotes himself to looking after his father Burghardt, who has cancer. But his father stubbornly sabotages all of his son’s efforts tp care for him. Jonathan finds it increasingly difficult to cope until they hire a young caretaker, Anka, to help. Jonathan and Anka fall in love; her experience of working at a hospice helps Jonathan to gain a new insight into his father’s situation.
After a couple of years where duelling biopics of Tom Of Finland were vying to get made. Now one is finally in the can and the first full for the movie about the artist, known for his images of musclebound and, err, well-endowed men in homoerotic poses, has arrived.
Retake premiered last Summer at San Francisco’s Frameline Film Festival, and now it’s heading towards its DVD/VoD release, courtesy of Breaking Glass Picture. It’s certainly got a good cast, including Tuc Watkins (Desperate Housewives), Devon Graye (American Horror Story: Asylum), Derek Phillips (Friday Night Lights) and Kit Williamson (Mad Men).
Winner of Best Feature at Cardiff’s Iris Prize LGBT film festival, Real Boy has certainly met with plenty of acclaim. Now it’s heading towards a UK release, courtesy of Peccadillo Pictures, who have just released a trailer.
