Chris Pratt’s Star Lord & Dave Bautista’s Drax Get Guardians Of The Galaxy Posters

June 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Star-Lord-posterIn the last couple of days we’ve had Guardians Of The Galaxy character posters for Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and Zoe Saldana’s Gamora. Now the set is complete the release of promo pics for Chris Pratt’s Star Lord and Dave Bautista’s Drax.

We’ve also been sent character descriptions for most of the non-human characters, which you can read below, accompanied by the UK versions of the posters.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

‘Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which first appeared in comic books in Marvel Super-Heroes, Issue #18 (Jan. 1969). James Gunn is the director of the film with Kevin Feige producing, and Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Jeremy Latcham, Alan Fine and Stan Lee serve as executive producers. The story is by Nicole Perlman and James Gunn, with screenplay by James Gunn. Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” releases in UK cinemas on August 1, 2014.’

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Drax-posterDrax (Dave Bautista) A physical brute, Drax has a personal vendetta against Ronan, who killed his family. Now fueled by pure rage, Drax will stop at nothing to take his revenge on the most dangerous being in the galaxy.

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Groot-Rocket-uk-posterGroot (Vin Diesel) Groot descends from a race of walking flora and resembles a sentient tree. Despite his strange appearance and limited communication skills, Groot proves to be a valuable ally and a loyal friend—not only to his fellow bounty hunter Rocket but to the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy as well.

Rocket (Bradley Cooper) Rocket is a bounty hunter and mercenary whose mastery of weapons and battle tactics make him a formidable warrior, despite being a genetically altered, cybernetically enhanced, talking raccoon. The result of traumatic biological experimentation, Rocket is a genuine gun-toting badass and mechanical genius who has a huge chip on his shoulder.

Kylie Minogue Heads To San Andreas Alongside Dwayne Johnson

June 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kylie-MinogueKylie Minogue may have started out as an actress, but she doesn’t book that many gigs in front of the camera nowadays. However now THR reports that she’s joining Dwayne Johnson in San Andreas.

Johnson will play a man who travels across California to rescue his estranged daughter after a massive earthquake strikes. It’s not known exactly who the Aussie pop star will play, but she’ll star alongside Carla Gugino, Alexandra Daddario, Colton Haynes and Art Parkinson.

The project has been in development at New Line Cinema since 2011, when Allan Loeb (The Switch) signed on to rewrite the original script by Andre Fabrizio and Jeremy Passmore (Special). Lost’s Carlton Cuse signed on to rewrite the script in 2012, although the most recent draft was written by Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes (The Conjuring).

Brad Peyton is directing, with the shoot currently happening in Australia. It’s due out summer 2015.

Sony Is Planning A Live Action/CGI Sonic the Hedgehog Movie

June 11, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sonic-the-hedgehog-gameHollywood is running out of franchise characters to make family friendly movies out of, but Sony thinks it’s found one more, as they’re teaming with Sega for a live action/CGI Sonic The Hedgehog movie.

Evan Susser and Van Robichaux will write the scipt for the movie, which is said to be trying to capture Sonic’s irreverent tone and spirit, reuniting him with some of the most revered and infamous characters of the franchise, including the evil Dr. Eggman.

Playful, mischievous, and quick on his feet in more ways than one, the world’s fastest hedgehog is known for his ability to move at supersonic speed to protect his friends from their enemies. For more than two decades, Sonic has been one of the world’s biggest gaming icons and a $1 billion franchise with more than 140 million games sold.

Hannah Minghella, Columbia Pictures’ president of Production comments, “There are limitless stories to tell with a character like Sonic the Hedgehog, and a built-in international fan base… we’re looking to capture everything that generations of fans know and love about Sonic while also growing his audience wider than ever before.”

It’ll be interesting to see if it can work, as while Sonic is a very famous character it’s difficult to imagine a movie of his running around collecting rings, or indeed being brought into our world.

The Peruvian Bear Goes Sightseeing In New Pics From Paddington

June 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paddington-preview-pic1A live action Paddington Bear movie has always seemed like a risky proposition, and even after March’s Teaser Trailer the jury has been out over whether the live-action and CGI mix would work. Now a couple of new pics have arrived, which so look quite fun.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From the producer of Harry Potter and Gravity, Paddington comes to the big screen for the first time in an epic new adventure.

‘Adapted from Michael Bond’s beloved books, Paddington follows the comic misadventures of a polite young bear with an endearing talent for comic chaos.

‘Paddington has grown up deep in the Peruvian jungle with his Aunt Lucy who, inspired by a chance encounter with an English explorer, has raised her nephew to dream of an exciting life in London. When an earthquake destroys their home, Aunt Lucy decides to smuggle her young nephew on board a boat bound for England, in search of a better life. Arriving alone at Paddington Station, Paddington soon finds that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family, who find him with a label tied around his neck which reads ‘Please look after this bear. Thank you.’ They offer him a temporary home whilst he searches for the explorer who impressed Aunt Lucy all those years before.

‘But when Paddington catches the eye of a sinister, seductive taxidermist, it isn’t long before his home – and very existence – is under threat …’

The film is due out in the UK on November 28th.

June 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

spongebob-movie-poster12004’s The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie was one of the most bizarre but funny animated movies in a long time. It’s taken a while but now he’s heading back to the big-screen for a 3D CGI adventure – The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water.

There’s not too much info on the plot, although it seems the title character will be leaving Bikini Bottom and finding out what happens on the land. Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass and Carolyn Lawrence are all reprising their voice role.

The film is due out February 2015. Hopefully a trailer will arrive soon.

Sigourney Weaver Confirmed For All Three Avatar Sequels

June 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

sigourney-weaver-avatarEver since James Cameron started talking about the sequels for Avatar, people have been wondering whether Sigourney Weaver would return. Due to the end of the first film, the initial presumption was that she wouldn’t, but then both Cameron and Weaver started suggesting she might be back after all.

Now that’s been confirmed, with the director himself saying Sigourney will return for all three Avatar sequels.

THR reports Cameron as saying, “Sigourney and I have a long creative history, dating back to 1985 when we made Alien. We’re good friends who’ve always worked well together, so it just feels right that she’s coming back for the Avatar sequels. Her character of Grace Augustine, as fans know, died in the first movie, so she’s playing a different and in many ways more challenging character in the upcoming films. We’re both looking forward to this new creative challenge, the latest chapter in our long and continuing collaboration.”

Although that suggests she will be playing a completely new character, due to the fact her death in the first film was almost a transition, it’s likely that however she returned it will be strongly linked to her role in the first movie.

The three films are due to be shot back-to-back, with production kicking off this year, with the first of the sequels due out in December 2016. Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Stephen Lang are also expected to return.

Josh Brolin Up To Join George Clooney In The Coen Brothers’ Hail Caesar

June 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

josh-brolinThe Coen Brothers are following their pattern of making a small idiosyncratic movie with a more mainstream effort, as after Inside Llewyn Davis they’re putting together Hail Caesar. It already has George Clooney attached and now Deadline reports that Josh Brolin will join him.

The film is about Eddie Mannix, a 1950s fixer who works for major Hollywood studios. His job is to try and keep the movie stars in line and also cover up their indicretions. It isn’t clear who George Clooney and Josh Brolin are portraying at this time.

Joel and Ethan Coen are set to direct from their own script.

Groot & Rocket Get A Guardians Of The Galaxy Character Poster

June 9, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Rocket-Groot-posterFrom the moment it was announced it was clear Guardians Of The Galaxy wouldn’t be quite like the other movies Marvel has made, not least because two of the main characters are a walking tree and a talking raccoon.

Now those unusual characters – Groot and Rocket (voiced by Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper respectively) – have got their own character poster, which you can see above.

They are odd, but as in the comic books they could also be very cool.
