The Nutcracker And The Four Realms Trailer – Disney turns a classic ballet into an epic film fantasy

December 19, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Most of Disney’s recent family-friendly live-action fantasies have been based on their animated movies (Beauty & The Beast, Maleficent, The Jungle Book). However, with The Nutcracker And The Four Realms, they’re relying on the popularity of Tchaikovsy’s classic ballet rather than their own back catalogue. But from the looks of this trailer they’re still giving it a massive fantasy treatment with a film that looks a little Narnia and a little Alice In Wonderland.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift from her late mother. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world. Starring Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy and featuring a special performance by Misty Copeland, Disney’s new holiday feature film “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is directed by Lasse Hallström and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale. In UK cinemas October 2018.’

The movie is due in cinemas October 2018. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Sicario 2: Soldado Trailer – Josh Brolin & Benicio del Toro head back to the drug war

December 19, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sicario perhaps isn’t the most obvious candidate for a sequel, especially as director Denis Villeneuve has since moved onto the likes of Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. However, screenwriter Taylor Sheridan (Hell Or High Water) has returned to pen the screenplay, with Stefano Sollima (Gomorrah) stepping into the director’s chair.

Here’s the brief synopsis: ‘In Sicario 2: Soldado, the drug war on the US – Mexico border has escalated as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border. To fight the war, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) reteams with the mercurial Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro).’

The movie is due in cinemas next summer. Take a look at the first trailer for the film below. [Read more…]

New Early Man Trailer – Aardman’s Nick Park takes us back to stop motion caveman times

December 19, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Nick Park is the man who helped put Aardman on the map with his Oscar winning Wallace & Gromit Shorts, Creature Comforts (another Oscar winner) and Chicken Run. However, his painstaking stop motion approach means it takes a long time for him to finish a film. His last directorial effort was the Wallace & Gromit short A Matter Of Loaf & Death, back in 2008.

Now though, he’s returning with Early Man.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘EARLY MAN is the new prehistoric comedy adventure from four-time Academy Award-winning director Nick Park and AARDMAN, the creators of WALLACE AND GROMIT and SHAUN THE SHEEP. Shot in Aardman’s own distinctive style, the film will take audiences on an extraordinary journey into an exciting new world unleashing an unforgettable tribe of unique and funny new characters voiced by an all-star British cast.

‘Set at the dawn of time, when prehistoric creatures roamed the earth, EARLY MAN tells the story of courageous caveman hero Dug (EDDIE REDMAYNE) and his best friend Hognob as they unite his tribe against a mighty enemy Lord Nooth (TOM HIDDLESTON) and his Bronze Age City to save their home.’

First Look At Saoirse Ronan & Margot Robbie In Mary Queen of Scots

December 17, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronana are getting historical with Mary Queen Of Scots. Ronan is playing the title role, while Robbie is Queen Elizabeth I. Now the first images from the movie have arrived via EW.

As the title suggests, the movie with follow the Catholic Mary, who certainly led a dramatic life, with her first husband murdered and then marrying the murder accused of killing him. She was then forced to abdicate and fled to England. However, as Mary had previously claimed Elizabeth’s throne, she was captured and locked up. She was kept hidden away in various manors for over 18 years, becoming an increasing problem, especially as many English Catholics viewed her as the legitimate queen. Eventually she was implicated in a plot to overthrow Elizabeth and executed. Josie Rourke directs from a script by Beau Willimon (House Of Cards).

The film isn’t due out until November 2018, but you can take a look at the first pictures from the movie below. [Read more…]

New Insidious: The Last Key Trailer – Things are getting creepily paranormal once more

December 12, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After Insidious Chapters 2 and 3, the people behind the franchise have decided to ditch the chapters and call the fourth movie, Insidious: The Last Key. That’s probably a good thing, as Chapter 3 was actually a prequel to the first two movies, while this is a sequel to that prequel (and yes, that is a bit complicated).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The creative minds behind the hit Insidious trilogy return for INSIDIOUS: THE LAST KEY. In the horror, which welcomes back franchise standout Lin Shaye as Dr. Elise Rainier, the brilliant parapsychologist faces her most fearsome and personal haunting yet: in her own family home.

‘The film is written by co-creator Leigh Whannell (Saw), who wrote the trilogy and directed Chapter 3; produced by Insidious regulars Jason Blum (The Purge series, Get Out), Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity) and co-creator James Wan (The Conjuring, Furious 7); and directed by series newcomer Adam Robitel (The Taking of Deborah Logan).’

The film will be out in UK cinemas on January 12th. Take a look at the new trailer below. [Read more…]

Final Bright Trailer – Netflix’s Will Smith starring fantasy police procedural is coming soon

December 12, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Bright is one of Netflix’s biggest gambits yet – a $90 million, fantasy thriller, with a major star (Will Smith) that they’ve bought the worldwide release rights. Unlike Amazon, which has given a full cinema release to some of the movies it has backed, Netflix is only planning a limited theatrical release for Bright and only once it’s already streaming via their service.

A new trailer for the film has been released, which suggest it’ll be a strange but potentially pretty good movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Set in an alternate present-day, this action-thriller directed by David Ayer (Suicide Squad, End of Watch, writer of Training Day) follows two cops from very different backgrounds. Ward, a human (Will Smith), and Jakoby, an orc (Joel Edgerton), embark on a routine night patrol that will alter the future of their world as they know it. Battling both their own personal differences as well as an onslaught of enemies, they must work together to protect a deadly, thought-to-be-forgotten relic, which in the wrong hands could destroy everything.

‘The Netflix original film stars Will Smith, Joel Edgerton, Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, Ike Barinholtz, Enrique Murciano, Jay Hernandez, Andrea Navedo, Veronica Ngo, Alex Meraz, Margaret Cho, Brad William Henke, Dawn Olivieri, and Kenneth Choi. The film is directed by David Ayer and written by Max Landis. David Ayer, Eric Newman, and Bryan Unkeless serve as producers.’

Bright will be on Netflix from December 22nd. [Read more…]

There have been successful Robin Hood movies and failed Robin Hood movies, but he’s a character that Hollywood never gives up on. The first images from the film have been released, which you can take a look at below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Robin Hood (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.’
