DJ Caruso To Direct Invertigo

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A reverse-G vortex is something we all worry about, and now they’re going to make a movie about it, with Deadline reporting DJ Caruso is in talks to direct. What do you mean you don’t know what a reverse-G vortex is? It’s when gravity is reversed – an everyday fear, I’m sure you’ll agree.

The film is called Invertigo, with gravity going haywire after a NASA satellite crash-lands in New York City. The whole world is in peril unless a rescue mission succeeds. It’s planned as a big scale movie with a script by Ehren Kruger.

Caruso’s last dip into sci-fi was the rather lacklustre I Am Number Four, and to be honest the basic plot of Invertigo doesn’t make it sound like it’s going to be a lot better, but we’ll reserve judgement.

Ron Burgundy Officially Announces Anchorman 2

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With plans for Anchorman 2 having come and gone over the years, it was gonna take something quite big to make anyone believe it was actually going to happen, but now Ron Burgundy himself has done just that, appearing on Conan O’Brien’s talks show to officially announce the sequel. And you can see that appearance below.

It’s a surprised to many that it’s happening, as nearly two years ago Paramount Pictures passed on Anchorman 2, feeling it was too expensive to get all the players – many of whom have gone to to major success since the first film – back together. Now the project has been brought back from the dead and given a green light by the studio.

Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy director Adam McKay will return to direct Anchorman 2, working from a script he’s co-writing with Will Ferrell. Judd Apatow will produce the sequel. Variety adds that Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy co-stars Christina Applegate, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, and Fred Willard are all expected to reprise their roles for the sequel.

Take a look at the announcement video below.

Julianne Moore Joins Gordon-Levitt’s Directorial Debut

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Actress Julianne Moore has joined the cast of the Joseph Gordon-Levitt untitled directorial debut (once known as Don Jon’s Addiction), appearing alongside Scarlett Johansson who signed up to star in the film last month.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will also star as a Don Juan-type character, who goes on a journey to become a less selfish person. Julianne Moore will play a mentor to this lothario, but it still isn’t known what role Scarlett Johansson is playing.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt will direct from his own original screenplay, with production is scheduled to begin next month. While acotrs becoming directors isn’t normally that interested, Gordon-Levitt’s a bit of a exception and many will be keen to see what he comes up with, and he’s certainly getting a good cast together to help him. Owen Wilson & Zach Galifianakis Say You Are Here

March 29, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Matthew Weiner, creator of Mad Men and writer/executive producer of The Sopranos, is heading to the movies, as he’s set to write and direct You Are Here, a decade old passion project he’s finally go to get on to camera. According to THR, the movie will star Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis, with Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation) in talks to co-star.

In the movie local weatherman and freewheeling bachelor Steve Dallas (Wilson) and bi-polar man-child Ben (Galifianakis) are childhood best friends who embark on a road trip home after Ben discovers that his estranged father has passed away. Once there, Ben is shocked to learn that his eccentric father had big plans for him and he’s inherited a whole lot more than his father’s money. As Ben struggles with his new responsibilities, his friendship with Steve is tested by the complications of his inheritance, his sister Terry’s (Poehler) ambition, and Steve’s desire to be with his father’s beautiful young widow Angela.

“This movie has been my passion for eight years and to see it come together with Owen and Zach and Amy is a dream come true,” said Weiner. “I can’t wait to get started because the movie is about everything I care about and I’m tired of reading it out loud to my friends.” The film will start production in May 2012 in North Carolina.

New American Pie: Reunion Red Band Trailer

March 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems an extra decade hasn’t dimmed the rudeness of the American Pie guys, with this new red band trailer suggesting their sexual shenanigans are still rampant when they get back together for a high school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed, Jim and Michelle married while Kevin and Vicky said goodbye. Oz and Heather grew apart, but Finch still longs for Stifler’s mom. Now these lifelong friends have come home as adults, but they’re still causing havoc!

Total Recall Trailer Teaser & Great New Banner Image

March 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Why do futures always have to be so dystopian? While we’ve only got 30 seconds of the new Total Recall so far, it certainly suggests this future won’t be issue free, although it could be pretty cool. This is just a teaser for a full trailer that’s expected in the next few days. The new take on Total Recall sees Colin Farrell as a factory worker (Farrell) who begins to suspect that he’s a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he’s on – Euromerica or New Shanghai, the nation states that are vying for supremacy. It seems it’ll be a very different film to the early 90s Paul Verhoeven movie and just a different again to the original Phillip K Dick story, We Can Remember It For You Wholesale. The film’s due out August 22nd and you can also see a great new banner image for the film below.

New Trailer For Sacha Baron Cohen’s The Dictator

March 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Sacha Baron Cohen’s next movie seems like it’ll be a lot of fun, and this trailer is the best look at the film yet. The Dictator, which bizarrely enough is partially based on a book by Saddam Hussein, sees Cohen as General Aladeen of Wadiya, and tells ‘The heroic story of a dictator who risks his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed’. It’s due out May 18th, 2012, but you can watch the new trailer right here!

It’s About Time For Zooey Deschanel In Richard Curtis’ Film

March 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Richard Curtis is busy putting together his third directorial comedy, a slightly mysterious time-travel comedy callled About Time. Things are certainly coming together though, as Variety reports that Zooey Dechanel and Domnhall Gleeson (Deathly Hallows) are in talks to star in the movie.

It’s been a bit unclear what the film is all about, other than time travel, although the latest reports help clear things up, saying, ‘Gleeson has an offer to play Tim, a young man who comes from a family of time-travelers. When Tim learns of his unique gift from his father, he uses his newfound abilities to change situations for the better. Deschanel is making a deal to play his love interest, Mary.’

Neither actor is locked in yet, and Deschanel has a rival offer for Fox 2000’s He’s Fucking Perfect, but is apparently leaning towards the Richard Curtis movie. Whichever she goes for will shoot during the break between seasons of her hit sitcom New Girl.

Stanley Tucci’s Got Your Voice in My Head

March 28, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Stanley Tucci is always a guarantee of a bit of class in a movie, and he’ll now be lending that to Your Voice In My Head, as Variety reports that the actor, who can currently be seen as Caesar Flickerman in The Hunger Games, has signed on to star in Your Voice in My Head for director David Yates.

Emma Watson will reunite with Yates to play the female lead in the film, which is based on the memoirs of screenwriter Emma Forrest, who begins a downward spiral after her relationship with a famous journalist ends. She is saved from the brink of suicide by a terminally ill psychiatrist.

Emma Watson will play Emma Forrest and Stanley Tucci is set to portray the therapist. It is said that the therapist role was being sought after by A-list talent such as George Clooney before Stanley Tucci won the role.

Shooting will begin sometime this summer.
