Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman & The Rest Of The Suicide Squad Cast Unite For A Photo

April 9, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

suicide-squad-cast-photoDC/Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad is going into production very soon and to prepare the cast have gotten together for a read-through of the script, and to mark the occasion director David Ayer has posted a great cast photo on Twitter.

Ayer appears in the pic with Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg), Will Smith (Deadshot), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Jay Hernandez (unknown), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jai Courtney (Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Karen Fukuhara (unknown) and Viola Davis (Amanda Waller).

Ike Barinholtz and Adam Beach are also included, although as this is the first we knew of them being in the movie, there’s no info on who they’ll play. There’s no Jared Leto on hand, who’s playing The Joker, but it’s not clear why not.

The movie revolveds around an array of supervillains, who have all been captured but are offered the chance for redemption by taking on a mission from which none of them are expected to return alive.
David Ayer is set to direct, with an August 5th, 2016 release date already been set. [Read more…]

Daniel Radcliffe Will Invent Grand Theft Auto & Make It More Violent

April 9, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

daniel-radcliffe-what-ifDaniel Radcliffe is set to star in Grand Theft Auto – although this isn’t an adaptation of the hi game series itself, it’s about the co-founder and president of Rockstar Games, Sam Houser, and a fight he ended up getting embroiled in.

The film will follow how, after helping build his company into a videogame powerhouse with titles such as GTA and Max Payne (and it’s him who’s often credited with being wanting to make the games increasingly violent), ‘Houser and Rockstar Games came under repeated attacks from activist attorney Jack Thompson. Thompson was an unorthodox Florida attorney who was already attacking media companies for pushing rap and sex onto the airwaves when he turned his attention to what he saw as an obsession of glorifying violence in the video game industry. GTA was one of his favorite targets. He was disbarred in 2008 for inappropriate behaviour.’

Radcliffe will play Houser in the movie, which is due to start shooting April 20th. James Wood wrote the script with Owen Harris set to direct the BBC Films movie.

Pink Moon Trailer – Into a world where it’s straight people who are ostracised

April 8, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pink-moonJust over a year ago we posted ago a KickStarter campaign for a short film called Pink Moon. Well that crowdfunding drive was a success and now it’s preparing for its premiere at Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival on April 28, before heading online later this year.

The film imagines a society where the roles gay and straight people have been reversed and ‘heterosexuality is persecuted and procreation is tightly controlled, two teens are forced to hide an unintended pregnancy before their forbidden romance is exposed.’

Brandon Tyler Harris and Adam Jepsen star in the film from director Sal Bardo (who was also behind the excellent Chaser and Sam).

The trailer has now been released, which you can see below. [Read more…]

Alphabet Boys Gay-Themed Web Series Seeks Crowdfunding Cash

April 8, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

alphabet-boysWith TV still having a tough time producing (and sustaining) decent gay-themed entertainment, a lot of the most interesting work is going on in the world of the internet with web series. Now there’s a new one on the block – or at least the makers hope there will be – called Alphabet Boys.

The show has launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise a rather hefty $140,000 to complete Season 1. The pilot is already in the can, with scripts for seven more 15-minute episodes ready to go, with those behind the show hoping to shoot in June and July.

Alphabet Boys is described as ‘a bold and fresh comedic web-series revolving around four guys navigating the struggles of life in the Big Apple: Love, friendship and finding the ever-elusive Mr. Right. The show takes place in Alphabet City, where Dante, Blake and Ross suddenly find themselves with a new house-guest when Stefano shows up at their door. Three gay men under one roof is dramatic enough, but add a straight one with extra baggage to the mix and you have Season One of Alphabet Boys!

‘This season brings fun filled shenanigans during excursions through the city, pool parties, broadway shows, bad dates and personal drama between the boys. With complementary, yet completely opposite personalities, there’s never a dull moment with these four!’

Amos Wolff, Adam Perry, Chad Ackerman, and Joey Sorge are set to play the leads.

You can take a look at the sizzle reel below, and if you want to help out, you can head over to IndieGoGo. [Read more…]

Dane DeHaan & Mia Goth Have A Cure For Wellness

April 8, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Dane-DeHaanGore Verbinski looked like he was set to take over Hollywood thanks to the Pirates Of The Caribbean movies, but thanks to the failure of The Long Ranger and a reputation for going massively over-budget, he’s decided to set his sights slightly cheaper for his next movie.

He’s planning a horror film called A Cure For Wellness, which THR reports has now added Dane DeHaan and Mia Goth to its cast.

Justin Haythe wrote the script, which ‘tells the story of an employee (DeHaan) who is sent to rescue his boss from a European “wellness spa” but soon realizes he’s trapped, and discovers that the facility has a more sinister purpose than just serving the health needs of its patients. Goth, who is in negotiations for the role, will play a longtime patient who is oblivious to the spa director’s dark designs for her.’

The plan is to start shooting this June in Europe. It’s a return to horror for Verbinski who may have had some success with Mousehunt and The Mexican, but really broke through with the American version of The Ring.

LGBT-Themed Short Film Breathe, Set Amongst The Traveller Community, Goes Crowdfunding

April 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

breathe-short-filmIt’s a shame that it’s so tough for LGBT short films to get funded, as many of those that do get made are brilliant, so it makes you wonder what we miss out on simply because the cash isn’t available. The people behind Breathe are hoping to ensure that doesn’t include them, as they’ve set up a crowdfunding campaign to help get their short made.

The British and Irish production has already received partial funding from Film London as part of a scheme to support emerging talent, but they’re also hoping to raise 6,000 Euros via crowdfunding.

In the film ‘A hardy Traveller (JOHN CONNORS) becomes increasingly concerned with his seven-year-old son’s femininity and sets about toughening him up. Breathe questions how far a man is willing to defend his family name when the one threatening his legacy is his own son. Does he have the capacity to change and accept him?

‘Breathe is a short film exploring LGBT issues, the Travelling community, and ultimately, the idea of accepting those around us as they are, rather than trying to force change upon them.’

You can take a look at the mood film below and click here to find out more and maybe offer some cash. [Read more…]

People You Know Gay-Themed Web Series Launches KickStarter For New Episodes

April 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

People-you-Know-slideA couple of weeks ago we posted that Eating Out filmmaker Q. Allan Brocka had signed up to direct upcoming episodes of the web series People You Know, which plans to shoot seven more episodes this summer, which will complete Season 1.

Since then it’s been revealed that Season 1, Part 1 has been so popular that it’s secured an airing on the LGBT US TV network HereTV.

However to get Season 1 completed the makers need some cash, and so they’ve launched a KickStarter campaign hoping to raise a cool $75,000.

If they get enough money they promise that ‘The series will ramp up the drama as the Saints and Sinners learn hard truths about love, friendship and life in the Big Apple.’

People You Know chronicles the lives of a group of gay friends, mostly coupled up, who work and play together in New York City.

“Kickstarter is a great resource for independent and original content. Since we were so successful in our last campaign, we are using that platform again,” People you Know co-creator John Dylan DeLaTorre says. “Creators can reach and cultivate an audience that is just as passionate about the characters and narrative as we are. We have been lucky to connect with the viewers in a way that is truly remarkable. We’ve heard from the fans and know they want to see more. We are very excited to continue telling our story.”

You can find out more about the show on its website, and head over to the KickStarter here. [Read more…]

It Takeis Two: Episode 1 – George & Brad Takei take us into a heightened version of their world

April 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

it-takeis-two-ep1Last week we posted a teaser for a brand new web series from the wonderful world of George Takei, which promised that It Takei’s Two would bring us into a heightened reality version of the life of him and his husband, Brad.

Now the first episode has arrived and it’s a lot of fun (and very resonant for anyone who’s active on the web) as Brad discovers there are all sorts of mean memes and images of him online. In his fury he attempts to get them taken down and to stop the web being so nasty. However it takes George to point out you can’t please all the people all the time, and that when it comes to the web someone’s always going to take things the wrong way or take random, unnecessary potshots (or at least what seem like potshots to the person they’re about).

Brad still thinks he can win though and heads to Google’s NYC HQ.

Take a look at episode 1 of It Takeis Two below. [Read more…]

Garrett Hedlund & Olivia Wide Confirmed For Tron 3

April 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tron-legacy-olivia-wilde-garrett-hudlundA couple of year ago Disney had massive plans to build a huge Tron franchise, but when Tron: Legacy failed to live up to expectations at the box office many thought that would be the end of all the extensive multimedia plans. However now a third movie is coming, with Joseph Kosinski once more directing.

While it’s seemed certain for a while that Garrett Hedlund would return, that’s now been confirmed and THR adds that Olivia Wilde will be back as Quorra.

Interestingly while all this info is out there, Disney still hasn’t officially announced the movie, even though numerous reports over the past few months have said it’s gearing up to shoot later this year.

There are no story details either, although Kosinski has previously suggested he wanted a third film to expand on and explore some ideas of Legacy, particularly the final minutes.
