SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out of Water Trailer – From under the sea into our world

August 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

spongebob-squarepants-sponge-out-of-water-pic1When the SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out of Water trailer debuted at Comic Con, the main reaction of the audience was apparently bewilderment over what on earth they’d just seen. However confusion would only arise if they’d never watched a lot of SpongeBob or seen the first movie.

After all, that film involved the title character using a live-action David Hasselhoff as a surfboard, so after that it should have been clear that any follow-up would be slightly surreal, bizarre and take you to places you never expected.

The real confusion probably stemmed not just from the fact SpongeBob and friends enter our world and turn from animation to CGI, but they then manage to become very unusual superheroes! If you have the right sense of humour though, this look like it could be a lot of fun.

Take a look at the trailer below. The film will be in UK cinemas in March next year. [Read more…]

Zac Efron Will Turn Music DJ For We Are Your Friends

August 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Zac Efron is getting ready to let loose the beats, as Deadline reports that Emily Ratajkowski (best known for the Blurred Lines music video) and Efron have signed up for We Are Your Friends, which will be the directorial debut of Catfish: The TV Show’s Max Joseph.

zac-efron-slideThe movie is ‘a coming-of age-drama about finding your voice. It’s set in the worlds of electronic music and the Hollywood nightlife, where an aspiring 23-year-old DJ named Cole spends his days scheming with his childhood friends and his nights working on the one track that will set the world on fire. All of this changes when he meets a charismatic but damaged older DJ named James who takes him under his wing.

‘Things get complicated, however, when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie. With Cole’s forbidden relationship intensifying and his friendships unraveling, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he knows he’s destined for.’

The cast is also likely to include Jonny Weston, Shiloh Fernandez and Alex Shaffer, who are currently in talk for the movie, although it’s not clear who they will play.

The movie will start shooting on August 18th in the San Fernando Valley.

Domhnall Gleeson To Star Alongside Leonardo DiCaprio & Tom Hardy In The Revenant

August 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

dohmnall-gleesonDomhnall Gleeson has certainly been building up a great film career with roles in the likes of Dredd, Harry Potter, True Grit and About Time, and he’s also got a major part in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII. Now he’s signed on to star in The Revenant according to Variety.

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to take the lead role as 1820s fur trader Hugh Glass. He gets mauled by a grizzly bear and then to make matters worse he is robbed and left for dead. Glass manages to survive and sets off on a quest for vengeance against those who robbed him.

It’s not clear who Gleeson, but he joins a cast that also includes Tom Hardy (who is believed to be the main bad guy) and Will Poulter.

Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu is set to direct, with filming kicking off later this year.

Colton Haynes Heads Off For Some Time With His Gay Brother And Family

July 31, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

colton-haynes-and-brotherLike all the best people in Hollywood – Chris Evans, Anne Hathaway, Kevin Smith, Colin Farrell, Catherine Zeta-Jones – Arrow Star Colton Haynes has a gay brother, Joshua.

The brothers have been out spending some time together along with Josh’s husband, Scott, and their daughter (Colton’s niece), Wren. To mark the occasion, Haynes posted the pic above on his Instagram. Unfortunately Wren doesn’t look like she’s having a great time, but the actor is keen to point out it’s because she ‘needs a nap‘.

It’s a great family shot, and we can’t help but notice they seem to single handedly be keeping the opticians industry in business.

As we saw last week, there are big plans for Colton in Season 3 of Arrow, where he will emerge as the red leather Arsenel – you can take a first look at him in costume here.

The Attorney For Bryan Singer’s Sex Abuse Accuser Quits

July 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bryan-singerBack in April lawyer Jeff Herman announced that he was determined to confront a underage sex abuse problem in Hollywood he believes exists, starting with a lawsuit against Bryan Singer on behalf of a man called Michael F. Egan, who claimed the X-Men director abused him as a teenager.

Herman sounded like a man on a mission – indeed many suggested that perhaps Herman was so convinced there was a major problem in Hollywood with people abusing teens, that he hadn’t spent enough time considering the merits of his actual case.

Now things have changed dramatically. Three of the four defendants named in suits related to Singer’s in Hawaii have been withdrawn, and Singer himself has been dropped from another suit Herman helped launch on behalf of another man.

Today it’s been revealed that Herman has dropped Egan as a client completely and will no longer represent him in the case against Singer. He released a statement reading, “We are in the process of withdrawing from representing Mr. Egan in all his cases and have no further comment concerning his matters at this time. We cannot comment on any actual or purported documents that may or may not be or reflect privileged or confidential communications. We decline to speak about any other clients we may or may not have represented.”

The news follows reports that Herman attempted to settle the case for a relatively small amount, but that Egan refused to sign, even though it was becoming increasingly clear there was little chance of them winning, and that any settlement money Singer agreed to pay would simply be to get rid of the case.

The director’s lawyer states to THR, “As Mr. Egan and his now ex-lawyers know, a legitimate claim in this type of case can run into the millions of dollars, so their willingness to resolve it for such a relatively low figure demonstrates their total lack of confidence in their chances for success. This was their way of trying to save face after an unsuccessful attempted shakedown of Bryan Singer. Let us be clear, this in no way changes the fact that Bryan Singer is innocent of these unsubstantiated lies.”

Technically Egan’s lawsuit against Singer and a newer suit he launched against former Disney TV president David Neuman are still in motion, but without a lawyer it’s unclear whether Egan will be able to progress them. There is also now a lawsuit against Egan, Herman and attorney Michael Gallagher for malicious prosecution and abuse of process, filed by producer Garth Ancier, who was one of the other men named in the initial sex abuse suits. That will presumably still go ahead whether Herman has dropped Egan or not.

Penny Dreadful’s Reeve Carney Says It’s ‘All Downhill For Me’ After Kissing Josh Hartnett

July 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Josh-Hartnett-Reeve-Carney-Penny-DreadfulThere was plenty to interest gay audiences in Penny Dreadful. The fact Reeve Carney is incredibly good looking was a bit of a bonus, and it certainly didn’t hurt when he had a major kissing scene with Josh Hartnett.

It took many people by surprise as until the fourth episode, there’d been little hint either character might enjoy the company of gentlemen in more than a friendly manner.

Carney was ar Comic Con and talked to TooFab at the much-talked about kiss, saying “I knew that something like that would likely happen at some point and I figure, you know, you could certainly do a lot worse than Josh Hartnett.”

He adds, “It’s probably all downhill for me in terms of any man-on-man action I might have on the show,’ he says. ‘They’ll have to keep their game high!”

His character, Dorian Gray, will reportedly get a new love interest in the second series, although there’s no news on whether it will be a man or a woman.

Take Your First Look At Chris Pine, James Corden, Anna Kendrick & More In Into The Woods

July 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Into-The-Woods-pic12Shortly after it started shooting we got our first look at Disney’s movie version of Stephen Sondheim’s fairytale musical Into The Woods, with an image of Meryl Streep as a wicked witch. However it’s only now we’ve got some new shots, we include our first looks at the likes of James Corden, Emily Blunt, Chris Pine, Anna Kendrick, and Tracey Ullman.

But whose arm is it in the image above? Well, that’s Johnny Depp who’s taking the role of the Big Bad Wolf.

The movie is about a baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt) who head into the woods to confront an evil witch (Meryl Streep), whose curse prevents the couple from ever having children.
Along their way they encounter various fairytale characters such as Anna Kendrick’s Cinderella and the Big Bad Wolf (Johnny Depp). Tracey Ullman is set to be the mother of Jack the Giant Killer, while Christine Baranski is Cinderella’s mean stepmother. Anna Kendrick meanwhile is Cinderella, with Chris Pine as her Prince Charming.

Rob Marshall is directing from a screenplay by James Lapine. With these images now released, expect a trailer soon. Click on the pics below for larger versions. [Read more…]

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb Trailer – Ben Stiller is joined by Dan Stevens & Rebel Wilson

July 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

night-at-the-museum-3-slideAfter the first images were released yesterday, it’s time for the trailer for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.

As you can see the likes of Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan and Rami Malek are back, along with franchise newcomers like a very suave looking Dan Stevens as Sir Lancelot and Rebel Wilson as a British security guard in a nifty hat.

To be honest, there is a slight sense of laziness this time around, where the action moves to London, with Stiller’s Larry Page and the museum exhibits looking for a way to save the artefact that allows the inanimate to come to life at night. Perhaps they’ll manage to find a point in bringing things to the UK in the actual film, but it comes across as a little pointless in the trailer – even if the Trafalgar Square lions do come to life.

Take a look at the trailer below. The movie will be in cinemas at Christmas. [Read more…]

New Interstellar Trailer – Take a look at what Comic Con audiences saw of Christopher Nolan’s film

July 30, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

interstellar-poster-slideThere’s a lot of anticipation for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, and while we had a trailer a few months ago, it only offered hints at what to expect, as while the movie is about a journey into space, the footage was largely earthbound.

However now a new trailer has emerged, which debuted last week as Comic Con and is now online. It gives us a much better look at both the problems on earth and what happens when it leaves orbit.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan (“Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy), the production will travel the globe and utilize a mixture of 35mm anamorphic and IMAX film photography to bring to the screen a script based on the combination of an original idea by Nolan and an existing script by Jonathan Nolan, originally developed for Paramount Pictures and producer Lynda Obst. The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

‘“Interstellar” features a prestigious cast that includes Matthew McCaughey (“Magic Mike,” “Mud”), Academy Award® winner Anne Hathaway (“Les Miserables,” “The Dark Knight Rises”), Academy Award® nominee Jessica Chastain (“Zero Dark Thirty,” “The Tree of Life”), Bill Irwin (“Rachel Getting Married,” TV’s “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”), Academy Award® nominee John Lithgow (“Terms of Endearment,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Academy Award® nominee Casey Affleck (“The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford,” “Gone Baby Gone”), David Gyasi (“Cloud Atlas”), Wes Bentley (“The Hunger Games”), Mackenzie Foy (“The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Parts 1 and 2”), Timothée Chalamet (TV’s “Homeland”), Topher Grace (“Spider-Man 3”), David Oyelowo (“Jack Reacher,” “Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Academy Award® winner Ellen Burstyn (“The Last Picture Show,” “The Exorcist”), and Academy Award® winner Michael Caine (“The Cider House Rules,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy).’

The film’s due out in November. [Read more…]
