The Conjuring 2 Trailer – Things get creepy again for Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson in London

January 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

conjuring-2-pic1-slideAfter the massive success of The Conjuring, it’s no surprise that we’re getting a sequel. However it’s taken a while for it to be ready – so long that we’ve had time for the spin-off Annabelle in the meantime – but now we have a trailer for The Conjuring 2, which moves the action to Britain.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Reprising their roles, Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (“Up In the Air,” TV’s “Bates Motel”) and Patrick Wilson (the “Insidious” films), star as Lorraine and Ed Warren, who, in one of their most terrifying paranormal investigations, travel to north London to help a single mother raising four children alone in a house plagued by malicious spirits.

‘The film follows the phenomenal worldwide reception of Wan’s “The Conjuring,” which marked the largest opening ever for an original horror movie.  The film went on to make more than $319 million worldwide and still remains the second highest grossing original horror movie of all time, second only to “The Exorcist.”’

And in case you’re haunting, it is about the same case as the recent British TV show, The Enfield Haunting. The Conjuring 2 will be in cinemas in June.

New High-Rise Teaser Trailer – Tom Hiddleston is living in a retro-futuristic dystopia

January 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

high-rise-teaser-slideA few weeks ago a teaser trailer for the much anticipated High-Rise dropped, but it didn’t show us too much of the movie, instead coming across as a faux promotional video for the retro-futuristic building referred to in the title. Now a more traditional teaser has arrived, suggesting this will be a bizarre but incredibly eye-catching movie.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘High-Rise centers on a new residential tower built on the eve of Thatcher’s England, at the site of what will soon become the world’s financial hub. Designed as a luxurious solution to the problems of the city, it is a world apart.

‘Enter Robert Laing (Hiddleston), a young doctor seduced by the high-rise and its creator, the visionary architect Anthony Royal (Irons). Laing discovers a world of complex loyalties, and also strikes up a relationship with Royal’s devoted aide Charlotte (Miller).

‘But rot has set in beneath the flawless surface. Sensing discord amongst the tenants, Laing meets Wilder, a charismatic provocateur bent on inciting the situation. Wilder initiates Laing into the hidden life of the high-rise and Laing is shocked at what he sees.

‘As the residents break into tribal factions, Laing finds himself in the middle of mounting violence. Violence that he also finds emerging in himself’.

The movie hits UK cinemas in March. Take a look at the teaser and a new poster below.

Guillermo del Toro Circling James Cameron Produced Fantastic Voyage Remake

January 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

guillermo-del-toro

For years James Cameron has been working on producing a remake of Fantastic Voyage, but it’s been trapped in development with the likes of Paul Greengrass, Shawn Levy and Louis Leterrier coming and going from the director’s chair (many others, including Darren Aronofsky, Timur Bekmambetov and Jonathan Mostow has flirted with it). Now it may finally be moving forward, with THR reporting that Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim, Crimson Peak) is interested in directing.

David Goyer – who previously worked with Del Toro on Blade II – wrote the script, and it would also reunite the director with James Cameron after their aborted attempt to make a movie version of At The Mountains Of Madness.

The original 1966 Fantastic Voyage, followed a team of scientists who are miniaturised and injected into the body of a colleague, in order to try and save his life. The new version is envisioned as an event-sized tentpole for Fox, although it’s previously been suggested that the studio has had a few concerns about the budget (which is what caused At The Mountains Of Madness to come undone), but hopefully those problems have been ironed out.

Emma Stone May Be A Young Play Cruella de Vil For Disney

January 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

emma-stone

Disney is busy working its way through just about every classic animated movie it’s ever made in order to turn them live-action. 101 Dalmatians has already had that treatment back in the 1990s with Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil. Now though the House Of Mouse is having another go, this time with an origin story, to let us now how the fur obsessed villainess got to be the way she is..

Now the movie may have found its lead, as Variety reports that Emma Stone is in talks for the movie, which is currently going by the simple title, Cruella de Vil.

Not too much more is known about the movie, although it will be interesting to see with Cruella was always evil, or whether this will be a Maleficent-like tale that will show her to be misunderstood. Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote Cinderella and contributed to Maleficent, is writing the script.

Disney is currently looking for a director, with the hope the movie can go into production before the end of the year.

Ben Mendelsohn Wanted For Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One

January 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ben-Mendelsohn

Back in September Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ready Player One got its first star when Olivia Cooke signed up for the movie. Now she may be getting some company, as Variety reports Ben Mendelsohn is in early talks for the film. Assuming he ends up joining the movie, he’ll be the villain.

Mendelsohn is best known for Animal Kingdom, The Dark Knight Rises, Exodus: Gods & Kings, but is likely to become a better known name by the end of the year, thanks to his major role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is out in December.

The movie will be based on Ernie Cline’s novel. Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the year 2044, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he’s jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world’s digital confines—puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power and fortune to whoever can unlock them. But when Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win—and confront the real world he’s always been so desperate to escape.’

The main thing the movie is currently lacking is someone to play Wade, but that’s likely to change soon, as Spielberg is currently testing a range of young actors to play the role. The film should be in cinemas December 15th, 2017.

The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo Episode 1 – Brian Jordan Alvarez presents his new gay-themed web sitcom

January 6, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

caleb-gallo-ep1A new gay web series has launched its first episode, with LA-based comedian Brian Jordan Alvarez introducing us to the big gay life of Caleb Gallo. The 20-minute show is a lot of fun, taking a sideways look at gay life, where stereotypes are heightened and the tropes of homo life come under the spotlight.

Just in the first few minutes, Caleb has done has gay best friend duty to get rid a man out of someone’s house, lusted over a straight gut he can never have, dealt with someone’s decision they are bisexual because they think it will make them better in businesse and set two people he knows up on a date. Indeed he’s so busy sorting out everyone else’s life he doesn’t have too much time for his own. And it all ends with lots of cute, shirtless guys dancing, which is rarely a bad thing.

The show is filled with other LA funny people, including Go-Go Boy Interrupted’s Jimmy Fowlie, looking very different to how he normally does. You can take a look at Episode 1 of The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo below.

Gay Short Film Showcase: Gatecrasher – A young gay actor becomes obsessed with an older writer

January 5, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

gatecrasherMany actors would love to be playing Hamlet or starring in plays by the most lauded writers of our age, but are stuck in part-time jobs that have nothing to do with acting, or working for scale on corporate videos. But what if you weren’t prepared to put up with that, and where would the quest to fulfil your dreams take you? The short film Gatecrasher takes a look at that idea, and certainly leads to a tricky situation for the lead character.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Shot in Bradford 2012, the film stars Ryan Prescott (Emmerdale, Marchlands) and tells the story of a young, gay actor vying for the attention of an older writer to land him the role that will make his career. Yet what begins as determination soon turns to obsession, with Mark slowly ‘gatecrashing’ the life of his idol…

‘Since its civic premiere, the film has been accepted into film festival around the world, winning the Jury Award at the Frech-Frivoles Film Festival in Berlin.’ You can watch Gatecrasher below.

Colours Short Film Trailer – Looking at homophobia in football’s effect on a young man

January 5, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

colours-trailerWhile we said football above, I should probably point out for the benefit of any American visitors that we’re talking about ‘soccer’ here (alhough you you might have guessed that as we spelt ‘Colours’ properly). Colours is a new short film from half British, half German directing duo Dan & Pete, and it’s just released its trailer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Colours is a bold and unflinching look at the reality of homophobia’s presence in grass roots football. The film shows how Adam’s (17) world is turned upside-down when he and two other football team-mates, Mike and Alex, discover Adam’s best friend Tom is gay. Adam is faced with either losing his best friend and siding with the aggressive and malicious Mike who controls the team or standing by his best friend Tom and surely face a life of torment and physical abuse.

Colours will have its world premiere at the Oscar accredited Cinequest Film Festival in California in early March 2016.’

Take a look at the trailer below.

Guess The Chest: Whose Lightly Furry Pecs Are These?

January 5, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

guess-the-chest1In our latest bid at shamlessly lusting after the bodies of men of men we’ll never be able to touch (and will probably never meet), we’ve got a quiz for you! Which movie star’s chest is pictured above?

If you need a couple of clues, the chest fuzz is relatively new and has only been seen in the last year or so, but he’s certainly not a stranger to shirtlessness. Indeed there are quite a few people out there who’d only watch one of his movies because it’s almost guaranteed you’ll be to see his nipples at some point.

And as the internet has been abuzz about, in his next movie (which the pic above is taken from) we may get to see quite a bit more of him! By know you’ve probably guessed we’re talking about Zac Efron (in fact you probably guessed that before you read a word), with the image coming from Dirty Grandpa, which hits cinemas on January 22nd.

You can see more of the pic below.

Crush Of The Day: Matt Bomer Gets His Wet T-Shirt Action On For The Cover Of Men’s Fitness

January 5, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matt-bomer-mens-fitness-poolAh Matt Bomer. I’m convinced the reason he hasn’t broken out to be a bigger star is that he’s so ridiculously good-looking that he doesn’t actually look like a real person. It’s like someone drew a picture of the world’s hottest guy and then brought it to life.

His showing off that pretty face and chiselled physique for Men’s Fitness, including a cover where his abs are so defined a lot of people have suggested they must have be drawn one. Perhaps he did get a bit of Photoshop assistance (most magazine covers do), but anyone who’s seen the like of Magic Mike knows Matt can certainly hold his own in the abs department.

Take a look at the cover below, along with a video of the photoshoot that Men’s Fitness has released to accompany it. And then seriously, tell me he looks like a real person?
