rocky-horror-40th-bd-coverGet ready to do the time warp again as The Rocky Horror Picture Show 40th Anniversary – the ultimate midnight movie – comes home on Blu-ray on 5th October from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.

Winners will be able to host their own interactive screening in the comfort of their own home with a series of themed props and a handy infographic which tells you what to do and when.

Since its 1975 release, The Rocky Horror Picture Show quickly made its mark as the most-beloved cult film of all time. Today, this iconic cult classic film is the longest running theatrical release of all-time and currently plays at weekly midnight showings around the world. Moreover, the film’s cultural exposure and acclaim has extended far beyond the theatrical release, as the original “Rocky Horror” stage show continues to delight audiences worldwide.

Crush Of The Day: Captain America Star Frank Grillo’s Nude Modelling Past Resurfaces

October 1, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

frank-grillo-slideIt seems nude photoshoots that actors did before they found fame are de rigeur at the moment, as only a couple of weeks after pre-fame naked shots of Taylor Kitsch surfaced, images of Frank Grillo in the buff have emerged.

In the last few years Grillo has found success in the likes of Captain America: Winter Soldier (as Crossbones), Warrior, The Grey, End Of Watch, The Kingdom and The Purge: Anarchy, but it appears in his earlier days he wasn’t averse to a bit of full frontal male-modelling.

You can take a look at a few of the images below, but if you’d like to see them uncensored you’ll have to head here (sorry, we’re too prudish to publish them ourselves). We have to say, he’s looking good both now and then. [Read more…]

Gay Short Film Showcase: Tomas The Defendor – Enjoying the male form of a young football player

October 1, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tomas-the-defendorThe gay-themed documentary Fulboy came out on DVD earlier this week, and now to compliment the release, the short film Tomas The Defendor has popped up online, which was made by the same director, Martín Farina, and features one of the main subjects of Fulboy, the titular Tomas.

The short synopsis merely says: ‘Tomas, the Defendor of a football team, embraces the passion for football in his dream, in the garden, in his daily life…’ However when you watch the film you’ll see that it’s as much about Farina’s camera carressing the male form and bringing a hint of the sexual to Tomas’ life and love of football. The lens is brought in close to Tomas’ chest and groin, with only small parts of his body in frame at any one time.

Admittedly, it does getting a tad creepy when you realise that Martín and Tomas are brothers, and so he is sexualising his own sibling, but it still works. Take a look at it below.

#NoHomo Episodes 3-5 – The straight guys are trying to get ever gayer

October 1, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

nohomo-episode3The first couple of episodes of #NoHomo were a lot of fun, following Tyler and Skyler, two straight guys (played by models Christian Plauche & Matthew Egan) who decide that the best way for them to get with women is to pretend to be gay.

However their plan quickly starts to go awry, especially after being asked to actually do something gay, but they keep at it. With the latest eps, a Gayru leaves them slightly confused in Episode 3, while they hold a seance to contact the ghost of Liberace in Episode 4 and in Episode 5, Ryder and Jessica make bets to get the boys laid, using their playing gay plan against them.

Although from the outside it might sound like the show is making fun of being gay, the makers are keen to point out ‘By reversing the roles of fitting into heteronormative society, the show is a parody of the stereotypes that plague the LGBT community and boasts a strong message, we are more successful when we are ourselves.’

You can watch Episodes 1 & 2 here and here, and then catch up with the series in the videos below. [Read more…]

The Intern (Cinema Review)

October 1, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Rene Russo, Anders Holm
Director: Nancy Meyers
Running Time: 121 mins
Certificate: 12A
Release Date: October 2nd 2015 (UK)

I’ll come clean straight away, we have two problems here. In my humble opinion Nany Meyers’ The Holiday was a true low point in cinema, an absolutely wretched affair – lazy, clichéd, corny, utterly without charm and with dialled in performances. Problem 2 is the De Niro syndrome – what on earth happened to the actor who everyone agreed was the finest of his generation. Pacino has his many fans, but De Niro admirers simply mutter Raging Bull and that’s the argument won. So how has this man gone from that peak to decades, literally decades, of mediocre, middling dramas and simply unfunny comedies?

Actually there’s a third problem here, the film’s central idea, which has, in true Hollywood tradition, been done before, and very recently. It’s The Devil Wears Prada, but this time with Anne Hathaway in the Meryl Streep role, and De Niro in the junior position lately vacated by the over-promoted…Anne Hathaway! [Read more…]

A Bigger Splash Trailer – Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson, & Matthias Schoenaerts seek seclusion

October 1, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bigger-splash-slideA Bigger Splash certainly has a great cast, with Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes, Dakota Johnson, & Matthias Schoenaerts seek seclusion coming together for a film described as ‘an impeccably stylish tale of love, beauty, desire, sexuality; people who in trying to retreat from their world, only find it encroaching further upon them.’

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Rock legend Marianne Lane is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of nostalgia from which there can be no rescue.’

The movie will receive a BFI London Film Festival gala screening at The Odeon Leicester Square on October 9th, with a February 2016 UK release planned. Take a look at the trailer below. [Read more…]

Final The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 Poster Arrives

October 1, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mockingjay-part-2-poster2In just a month and a half the wildly popular Hunger Games saga comes to an end (although there has been talk of more sequels or spin-off) with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. Ahead of that comes a final poster, which sees Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss in full-on action mode.

Here’s the film’s synopsis: ‘With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow [Donald Sutherland] in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale [Liam Hemsworth], Finnick [Sam Claflin] and Peeta [Josh Hutcherson] – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to liberate the citizens of Panem, and stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.’

The movie arrives in UK cinemas November 19th, with tickets in going on sale on today.

Apropos Of Nothing: Hot French Rugby Players Strip Naked In A Sexy New Video

September 30, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

cosmo-rugby-playersI have to say I don’t have a huge amount of interest in the Rugby World Cup that’s going on at the moment (despite living in one of the host cities), but I have to say I’ve suddenly become more interested in the whole spectacle, even if I know that the action on the pitch will be very different to the action in the video below.

A bunch of rugby players have stripped down for Cosmo France, and luckily for us someone filmed them doing it. Seeing as Dieux Du Stade has traditionally been French rugby players (and at least some of the footage is from Dieux Du Dtade), perhaps the gauls think stripping naked for photoshoots is an intrinsic part of the job – but then if I looked like these guys, I’d probably be stripping naked a lot too.

It’s only a minute long, but it’s a video that’s well worth watching, so take a look below. If the video does make you look at rugby in a new light, the World Cup is continuing through to the end of October. [Read more…]

Gay Short Film Showcase: Pop-Up Porno: m4m – Grindr stories get turned into explicit, NSFW pop-up books

September 30, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

pop-up-porno-m4mYoutube isn’t a big fan of sexually explicit content, but Canadian filmmaker Stephen Dunn has found a way around that by telling pornographic tales in the form of pop-up books. The set-up is simple, a narrator tells the story, and on screen we see it brought to life in pop-up form.

There are three videos so far in the series, which debuted earlier this year at Sundance, but we’re concentrating on the gay-themed ‘mfm’ (there’s also ‘m4f‘ and ‘f4m‘) which tells the tale of a Grindr encounter which got sexy and then awkward very quickly – told complete with pop-up penises.

It’s an amusing (based-on-a-true) story and the way it’s told is extremely entertaining, so take a look at it below.

Matt Damon Clarifies His Remarks About Sexuality & Gay Actors

September 30, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

matt-damonThe blogosphere got a bit angry with Matt Damon earlier this week due to comments made in a Guardian interview, “I think it must be really hard for actors to be out publicly. But in terms of actors, I think you’re a better actor the less people know about you period. And sexuality is a huge part of that. Whether you’re straight or gay, people shouldn’t know anything about your sexuality because that’s one of the mysteries that you should be able to play.”

Some people took that to mean he was saying actors should stay in the closet. There were also accusations of him talking from a position of priviledge, where it was fine to say no one should know about an actor’s sexuality, when he has talked about his own wife and kids (which he doesn’t do a lot, but has mentioned in interviews on more than one ocassion).

Now he’s stepped up to clarify his comments, telling Ellen, “Yeah it was just in an interview with The Guardian that I literally just found out too, but it was that I was talking about actors are more effective when you know less about their personal lives. And was talking about it in the context of when Ben and I first started and people wrote all these articles, when Good Will Hunting came out, that we were gay because it was two guys who wrote the script. And feeling like, ‘Oh, well we can’t even’ like then you have to address it and then it’s like well I’m not gonna throw my friends under the bus, who are gay, and act like it’s some kind of a disease.

“Ya know, how do you even address it, so you’re always in these kind of weird things. But in this day and age, I said this thing to The Guardian and it got turned into and I was just trying to say actors are more effective when they’re a mystery. Right? And somebody picked it up and said I said gay actors should get back in the closet. Which is like I mean it’s stupid, but it is painful when things get said that you don’t believe. You know what I mean? And then it gets represented that that’s what you believe. Because in the blogosphere there’s no real penalty for just taking the ball and running with it. Ya know what I mean? You’re just trying to click on your thing. So.”

While he’s right that he never really said actors should get back in the closet, he’s not right to suggest his comments were completely taken out of context, as there’s still a (probably unconscious) disconnect from the freedom straight actors have to talk about their partners, and the difficulties and pressures for gay actors to do the same. Perhaps Damon doesn’t even realise that because straight-ness is treated as the absolutel defaut, talking about his wife is talking about his sexuality, at least if we accept someone talking about a same-sex partner is talking about their sexuality, which his comments seem to assume they would be.

I don’t doubt that when Ellen told him, ‘I know you and I know you’re not that guy’, that Matt is very LGBT-friendly, however perhaps rather than defending what he said and suggested he was misquoted, he’d have been better to say it was a half-evolved thought that he really needs to think about a little more.

You can take a look at the clip from Ellen below: [Read more…]
