April 27, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

joe-manganiello-magic-mike-xxl-posterOver the past couple of weeks Magic Mike XXL has been serving up a bevy of shirtless guys, which should help ensure that certain parts of our anatomy are extremely keen to see the return of the male strippers this summer.

We’ve already head Channing Tatum, Adam Rodriguez, Matt Bomer and tWitch, and now it’s time for the Joe Manganiello’s Big Dick Richie and Kevin Nash’s Tarzan, which you can take a look at above and below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘“Magic Mike” stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez and Gabriel Iglesias are reuniting for the hotly anticipated sequel “Magic Mike XXL”. Joining the returning cast, in brand new roles, will be Elizabeth Banks (“The Hunger Games” franchise), Donald Glover (“Community”), Amber Heard (“The Rum Diary”), Andie MacDowell (“Footloose”), Jada Pinkett Smith (“Gotham”) and Michael Strahan (“Live with Kelly and Michael”).

‘The new film will be directed and produced by Emmy Award winner Gregory Jacobs (“Behind the Candelabra”), who served as a producer on “Magic Mike,” as well as numerous features in a long-running collaboration with Steven Soderbergh. “Magic Mike XXL” also reunites “Magic Mike” producers Nick Wechsler, Channing Tatum and Reid Carolin, with a screenplay by Carolin. Steven Soderbergh, who directed the first film, will executive produce.

‘Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.’

First look still from Downriver featuring Reef Ireland as James (by Michelle Leong)

A couple of years ago the Aussie short The Wilding won the Iris Prize, the world’s largest LGBT short film prize. Even then there was talk of a feature film thematically inspired by that acclaimed short. Now that feature, Downriver, has completed principal photography and it’s in the hands of editor, Anthony Cox.

It’s been a bit of a bit of a change of pace for Anthony, who before heading into the editing suite for Downriver was working on the new Thunderbirds Are Go! TV series. So what exactly does an editor do, and does working within the LGBT arena make it more difficult to get a movie made? We caught up with Anthony and Downriver’s director, Grant Scicluna, to find out more about the movie and how they got it made. [Read more…]

Drink Me (DVD Review)

April 26, 2015 By Tim Isaac 4 Comments

Starring: Chris Ellis-Stanton, Emmett Friel, Darren Munn
Director: Daniel Mansfield
Running Time: 74 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: April 27th 2015 (UK)

Last year Richard Mansfield brought us the odd but sometimes effective The Secret Path, and now it’s the turn of his husband, Daniel, to direct a gay-themed Brit Flick, Drink Me. Both movies share being on the verge of the supernatural, as well having a love of somewhat perplexing horror, but while Secret Path was set in the past, this is a more modern affair.

Andy and James are a couple living a pleasant suburban life, which seems to offer everything they’d want. However when Andy is made redundant their financial stability comes under threat and they decide they need to take in a lodger. The arrival of the sexy Sebastian puts increasing pressure on Andy and James’ relationship and major cracks appear, especially as Andy gets increasingly paranoid and suggests that a series of disappearances may have something to do with the man staying in their house.

Sebastian meanwhile is a mysterious figure, flirting with both of his landlords and perhaps hiding a deeper, vampiric secret. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Tom Hardy Gets Shirtless & Plays With His Dog

April 25, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tom-hardy-details2There is something undeniably sexy about Tom Hardy, partly because he doesn’t seem like most movie stars. He comes across as being down-to-earth (and with a filthy mouth), a little unkempt and there’s also the fact that unlike many of his peers he doesn’t constantly feel the need to take the clippers to his chest hair. That may be a small thing, but it makes me happy.

He’s showing off his furriness again with some great pics for Details, where he takes off his shirt (in fact he looks hairier when he’s wearing a top), as well as seeming incredibly cute while be plays with a dog.

The pics comes alongside an interview done in support of Tom’s upcoming film, Mad Max: Fury Road. It’s well worth a read, where he talks about being a dad, and also how he tries to stay normal in the crazy world of film (“I got lucky. I love what I do. I’m going to fucking ride it until the wheels fall off. Do what you love doing, do it well—everything should fit into place. And if you happen to make money doing it, lucky cunt. But there’s no difference between a $5 performance and a $50 million performance to me. You know what I mean? My work wouldn’t change depending on how much money you gave me. I have no desire to be a star. I’d like to be normal.”)

Take a look at the great pics below. [Read more…]

Folsom Forever Trailer – Looking at the history of the gay leather scene’s Folsom Street Fair

April 25, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Folsom-Forever-slideSan Francisco’s Folsom Street Fair is one of those things that many of us have heard of, but the closest most of us are likely to have gotten were the scenes in the first season of Looking, or certain naughty videos that pop up online from the goings on there.

Even those who’ve attended probably know little about the history – and that’s where Folsom Forever comes along. It’s take a look at the annual event and where it came from, which has its roots in the AIDS epidemic and the need some in the gay S&M community had to say it wasn’t their fault, and that they should be able to be proud too.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In 1984, a scrappy little neighborhood in San Francisco – home to many low-income tenants and the heart of the gay male leather scene – faced destruction from the bulldozers of redevelopment and the AIDS crisis. The Folsom Street Fair was started to call attention to gentrification and raise money for AIDS charities. Folsom Forever tells the story of how this small street fair grew into the biggest outdoor kink and fetish event in the world, and managed to do a lot of good along the way. Coming to DVD and VOD June 9, 2015.’ [Read more…]

April 25, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

chocolate-city-poster-slideMaybe it’ll be the summer of male strippers on screen. Magic Mike XXL hits cinemas in July, and there’s also Chocolate City, which will be released on the big screen and VoD on May 22nd in the US.

The latter movie follows a group of African American male strippers and has a great cast including Michael Jai White, Tyson Beckford, Vivica A. Fox, Carmen Electra and Robert Ri’chard.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Welcome to Chocolate City, where the music is hot, the mood is magical, and the exotic male dancers are simply delicious. Women go wild as these toned, talented men make fantasies come true… and the arrival of a young, new exotic dancer (Robert Ri’chard) has the spot sizzling like never before. At home, he is Michael, an inner city college student struggling to help his mother (Vivica A. Fox) make ends meet. However, when his part-time job doesn’t pay the bills, Michael begins to find success at a nightclub dancing as “Sexy Chocolate.” As the money starts rolling in, Michael must deal with the unexpected pressure of being the female clubgoers’ favorite flavor while hiding his new “job” from his mother and girlfriend. Co-starring Tyson Beckford and Michael Jai White, Chocolate City is a steamy, fun ride that has all the right moves.’

The Visit Trailer – Plus a poster for M. Night Shyamalan’s movie

April 25, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The-Visit-posterM. Night Shyamalan isn’t quite the name he was in the years after The Sixth Sense, but he’s still one of the few writer/directors who you can sell a film on the strength of their name. That certainly seems true of The Visit, which wants to suggest it’ll take us back to the world of twisty-turny thrillers he’s known for.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Writer/director/producer M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable) and producer Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge and Insidious series) welcome you to Universal Pictures’ The Visit. Shyamalan returns to his roots with the terrifying story of a brother and sister who are sent to their grandparents’ remote Pennsylvania farm for a weeklong trip. Once the children discover that the elderly couple is involved in something deeply disturbing, they see their chances of getting back home are growing smaller every day.’

Now the first poster and trailer have arrived, which you can see above and below. It’ll be out in UK cinemas September 11th. [Read more…]
