October 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

two-mothers-slideThe official UK trailer for the lesbian drama Two Mothers has arrived, but be warned, it’s a little not safe for work at time.

Synopsis: ‘Brazen, timely and heart-wrenching, Two Mothers is an intense exploration of the trials and tribulations a same sex couple encounters in their desire to become loving parents. Katja and Isabella are happily married and feel the time is right to have a child. As the weeks and months pass by, it becomes clear that the process will be far more fraught than either were prepared for- and even threaten their relationship in unexpected ways. Brilliantly honest and surprisingly stirring, Two Mothers is unmissable drama.’

Sabina Wolf recently picked up Best Actress at the Iris Prize festival for the film, so it’ll be worth a look when it reaches DVD in December. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Michael Fassbender For GQ

October 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

michael-fassbender-gq-pic7-slide
With 12 Years A Slave just arrived in US cinemas and The Counselor out this Friday, Michael Fassbender is a busy man. However he found the time to go in front of Terry Richardson’s lens for GQ, and the results are very nice!

He also found time to talk about his dating history, saying, “I think the longest relationship that I’ve been in was two years. I started doing this when I was 17, so I guess in my dating, adult life, that kind of covers it.”

He also chats about how he meets women and the effect his fames has had on that. “I make a lot more friends, you know what I mean?” he says. “You become a lot more successful in terms of, like, talking to a girl. She’s all of a sudden more interested in me. I know that, like, three years ago, she would’ve walked away after two sentences left my mouth. I remember I was sitting at this table at this thing, and I was talking to this girl. I was like, ‘God, I am so boring right now.’ But she was like, ‘That’s so interesting!’ I was like, ‘You know what? Five years ago, this would not have been interesting.’”

Take a look at the great pics of Fassbender below. [Read more…]

Ben Whishaw Sought For Freddie Mercury Role, According To Queen Drummer

October 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ben-whishaw
Since Sacha Baron Cohen dropped out of the planned biopic of Queen singer Freddie Mercury a couple of months ago, we’ve had seemingly erroneous reports that Daniel Radcliffe and Dominic Cooper are in contention for the role. However now comes a name which may be surprising to say but does seem to be legit, as it comes from Queen guitarist Roger Taylor.

While on the BBC’s The One Show, Taylor dropped the hint that the person they were hoping to get to play Mercury had the intitials ‘BW’. When asked if this meant Ben Whishaw, he simply said, “Well, we hope so.”

Whishaw is not a name many people have mentioned for the role, as while he shares Freddie’s sexuality, Ben seems a little quiet and contemplative for the larger than life Queen singer. However he’s a great actor, so perhaps Whishaw can pull it out of the bag and show us a side of himself we haven’t seen before.

It should be mentioned though, that it’s not known if Whishaw has even been approached, or whether he’s just top of Queen’s wish-list.

Tarzan Trailer – Kellan Lutz gets motion-captured in the animated movie

October 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

While David Yates is busy putting together a live-action version of Tarzan, before then we’re getting a new animated version, and now the first full trailer for the movie has been released.

Kellan Lutz, Spencer Locke, Mark Delkin, Jaimie Ray Newman and Brian Bloom are among those who did motion capture and voice work for the movie. The plot doesn’t exactly follow the original tale, instead going more Avatar, which Tarzan and his ape friends having to stop some evil people attempting to raze the jungle so they can mine precious fuel that comes from a meteorite that crashed many years ago.

Despite the motion capture, it doesn’t seem we’re talking Pixar level graphics here – indeed like some other recent animated films, the backgrounds are beautiful while the people look to shiny, plastic and as if they’ve been pasted in on top (but they may be able to sort that before the film’s release). The film’s due out early next year. [Read more…]

Gravity Tops The US Box Office For A Third Week, While Fifth Estate Tanks Badly

October 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

gravity-preview-pic1Gravity has continued its impressive box office run, topping the US box office for a third week with $31 million, once more dropping less than 30% from the previous weekend (most films fall around 40-60% each week). It’s made $170 million in North America so far and is expected to gross another $100 million before the end of its run.

It certainly saw off the newcomers. The remake of Carrie was the best new opener with $17 million, which means that while it should still be profitable as it didn’t cost too much to make, it’s on the low end for recent horror releases, which is slightly surprising with Halloween not far away.

Escape Plan came fifth with $9.8 million, showing once more that after his time as Californian Governor, Armie isn’t the box office name he used to be, even if he teams up with Sylvester Stallone – something that in the 80s fans would have died for.

The only other new opener in the top 10 was the Wikileaks drama, The Fifth Estate, which took a dismal $1.7 million. It was a bit of a disaster, as it’s the lowest opening in DreamWorks history, and the worst start for a movie opening at over 1,500 cinemas this year. With bad reviews and mediocre audience reaction, it’s unlikely to do much better in the coming weeks.

Outside the top 10, 12 Years A Slave did well, taking $960,000 on just 19 screens. That’s an incredibly impressive $50,000 per screen, suggesting it’ll do extremely well as it expands nationwide in the coming weeks.

Rank Title Weekend Gross (millions) Total Gross to date (millions)
1 Gravity $31.0 $170.5
2 Captain Phillips $17.3 $53.3
3 Carrie $17.0 $17.0
4 Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2 $10.1 $93.1
5 Escape Plan $9.8 $9.8
6 Prisoners $2.0 $57.2
7 Enough Said $1.8 $10.7

Gay Web Series Husbands Gets Its Third Season International Release As Well As A Sexy Poster

October 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

While web series have allowed small independent producers to gain audiences themselves, the big boys have been watching and so it’s now surprising they want a piece of the pie. One of those is US TV network The CW, which has launched The CW Seed, as a place for original new web shows.

One of their first exclusives on Youtube is the international release of the gay-themed web series Husbands (it’s becoming a bit of an issue that productions that gained international fandom on the web are being increasingly bought up by companies that then restrict viewership to the US, so it’s great Husbands is now going worldwide).

Husbands is set in a fictional America where gay marriage is legal everywhere, and two celebrities – one an openly gay actor and the other a newly out baseball player – drunkenly get hitched in Las Vegas. Despite the fact it’s all happened a bit quick, their worry about scandal and disgracing the hard won right of gays getting married means they decide to keep their secret and try to make the relationship work.

Amy Acker, Beth Grant, Seth Green, and Michael Hogan all show up in Season 3. Six episodes have now added soon to CW Seed’s Youtube channel, so enjoy it above, as well as the sexy poster featuring Husbands stars Brad Bell, Sean Hemeon. [Read more…]

Rambo Gets A Gay Musical Overhaul In A Fun New Vid

October 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Have you ever watched Rambo and thought, ‘You know, this just isn’t gay enough, and it ought to have some musical numbers’. Well somebody over at Nerdist must have thought just that, as they’ve produced ‘Rambo, But Gay’, which you can watch above.

While it relies on gay stereotypes a little too much at times, it’s still a lot of fun, and the music and singing is surprisingly good.

Take a look at the viral vid above and decide whether it’s actually better than the original – and whether they should have got Sylvester Stallone in to reprise the central role.

Zac Efron Talks About His That Awkward Moment On-Screen Nudity

October 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zac-efron-shirtless-neighbors-tv-spot2A couple of days ago the internet went nuts when the red band trailer for That Awkward Moment was released, featuring Zac Efron lying naked on a toilet. Gay men worldwide went wild at the site of the perky butt.

Now he’s been talking about the nudity, with People reporting that he did have something to cover his modesty – at least for a little while. He says, “There was like a sock thing. It fell off. You just cup your hands.”

He also touched on the tough times he’s had, with recent reports he’s spent time this year in rehab for substance abuse.

“My family’s my rock,” Efron says. “I know they’re not going anywhere. More and more I’ve come to rely on my little brother to keep me grounded. He’s 21 now. I know my family’s always going to be there. And there’s also – as my life changes, sometimes they can’t really be there for you … and I rely on my friends.”

Previously title Are We Officially Dating?, That Awkward Moment is about a group of Manhattan friends (Efron, Miles Teller & Michael B. Jordan) who initially make a pact to remain single. The plot thickens when each friend falls in love shortly after the vow is made and have to decide “So…where is this going?”. It’s due out early next year.

And just because, here’s the butt shot again. [Read more…]

Francois Arnaud, Billy Magnussen & Luke Bracey May Find Fifty Shades Of Grey

October 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

billy-magnussenWith Charlie Hunnam out, Universal are scrabbling to find a replacement who’s not only hot enough but ready and willing to get S&M steamy when cameras start rolling in a few year’s time.

Alexander Skarsgard, Christian Cooke and Jamie Dornan (The Fall) have already been rumoured as replacements, and now E! adds in Billy Magnussen and Luke Bracey, while JustJared says Francois Arnaud is in the mix.

None of the new names are strangers to nudity, as Magnussen spent most of his time on stage in the play ‘Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike’ in his underpants, while Luke Bracey spent a lot of time with his shirt off in the Aussie soap Home And Away.  Arnaud meanwhile has been seen getting sexy in the Borgias (and going gay in I Killed My Mother).

Take a look at pics of all three below, and see which you’d prefer as the billionaire Christian Grey, who gets into a kinky relationship with the young Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson).

Homefront Red Band Trailer – Jason Statham deals with a nasty James Franco

October 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

James Franco and Jason Statham might not seem like obvious co-stars, but then Franco never likes to do the expected. With Homefront he not only has an unexpected co-star, but he get to work from a script by Sylvester Stallone, and play the extremely nasty bad guy.

The movie is about Phil Broker (Statham), a former DEA agent who moves his family to a quiet town to escape his past. However, he discovers the town is overrun by a dangerous meth distributor named Gator (James Franco).

While Stallone wrote the script, based on Chuck Logan’s novel, he neither stars not directs the film. The film’s due out in late November in the US and December 6th in the UK. Take a look at the new, dramatic red-band trailer above. [Read more…]
