Marvel has been very busy making plans for Phase 2 of the their integrated superhero universe, but they haven’t told us much more than which films will be coming out – Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, Captain America: the Winter Soldier, Guardians Of The Galaxy and The Avengers 2. However now a bit more info has been revealed about the Thor sequel, as an official synopsis has been released.
As rumoured, the film will explore all nine realms from the Thor universe, so without further ado, here’s what we can expect: ‘Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s Thor and Marvel’s The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Whenever a director leaves a project, the official line is always that it’s a mutual decision and everyone’s happy, even if what’s actually happened is far more fractious. Last week it was revealed that Marvel and director Patty Jenkins had parted ways due to ‘creative differences’ over Thor 2.
