Lost’s Harold Perrineau Signs Up For Ten Opposite Arnie

October 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

As he proved in lost Harold Perrineau is one of the best actors around, which ensures he’s rarely short of work, having spent much of the last year appearing in episodes of TV series such as Sons of Anarchy, Georgia and The Wedding Band, as well as popping up in films like Seeking Justice, Transit, Sunset Stories and Kathryn Bigelow’s upcoming Zero Dark Thirty.

Now Variety reports he’s got a new movie role, as he has joined Arnold Schwarzenegger in Ten, David Ayer’s new take on Agatha Christie’s classic Ten Little Indians. Skip Woods’ (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, A Good Day to Die Hard) script massively updates the tale, following an elite DEA task force that deals with the world’s deadliest drug cartels. Specialising in complex mobile operations, the team executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. What looks to be a typical raid turns out to be an elaborate theft operation, pre-planned by the DEA squad. After hiding millions in stolen cash, the team believes their secret is safe – until someone begins assassinating them one by one.

The impressive ensemble cast already includes Schwarzenegger, Sam Worthington, Mireille Enos and Olivia Williams. The movie should start shooting later this year.

Arnie Says His Mom Thought He Might Be Gay And Wanted To Cure Him

October 2, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

With Arnold Schwarzenegger hawking his new memoir, Total Recall, he’s busy conducting endless interviews about his life. Just yesterday, he was talking about how he married two gay couple when he was Governor Of California (although he refused to say he was for gay marriage itself).

Now Contact Music reports he’s been chatting to the US talk show 60 Minutes about the fact that when he was a teen his mother thought he might be gay, seemingly because his bedroom walls were covered in half naked male bodybuilders (so not altogether an unreasonable thought on her part then).

“I don’t know if mum thought I was gay,” Arnie says, “Or if she just thought there was something off. And ‘let’s catch it early’” His father apparently thought the best way to deal with Schwarzenegger’s suspected homosexuality was with violence. He “ran after me with a belt and beat me”, says Arnie.

However his mother took him to a doctor, in an attempt to “cure” him. ”She asked the doctor, ‘Can you help me? I don’t know if there’s something wrong with my son because his wall is full of naked men. All of Arnold’s friends have pictures of girls above their bed. And Arnold has no girls’.”

Arnie of course was a bodybuilder himself and won the Mr. Universe title before becoming and actor.

Arnie Says He Performed Gay Marriages As Governor

October 1, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It seems Arnold Schwarzenegger would like to ensure his position on gay marriage is clear as mud, as he’s told CBS News that he married two gay couples while he was Governor Of California, but he doesn’t go as far as to publicly say he supports gay marriage. So why marry people, then?

The first wedding he performed was for his former chief of staff, Susan Kennedy, whom he once dubbed a ‘cigar smoking lesbian’. “I performed the wedding in the office,” said Arnie after being asked if he attended the Wedding, “I married her in the office, in the Governor’s office.”

The second marriage was for assistant in the Governor’s office. Oddly though while he won’t go as far as to say he openly supports gay marriage, he does say, “I’m for that she [Kennedy] gets the kind of wedding and the kind of ceremony that I had when I got married with Maria [Shriver]. That she happens to love a woman, and I am a guy that loves a woman, that is two different things. It doesn’t make any difference. She should still have her ceremony.” So where exactly does he stand? We’re not sure.

When in office Schwarzenegger vetoed two bills that would have legalised same-sex marriage in California. Now it appears that may have been more about party politics than his own personal beliefs (it’s notable the gay marriages he performed were kept secret, as they may have been unpopular with many Republican voters).

Indeed Arnie doesn’t seem sure of much at the moment, as despite being a Republican Governor, he hasn’t decided whether to vote for Mitt Romney or his Democrat opponent Barack Obama. Even so he has no intention of leaving the Republican Party. Indeed it seems Arnie is increasingly what’s being termed a RINO – Republican In Name Only – a name given to the more socially liberal branch of the party who don’t like the hard line its taken in recent years.

Arnie’s Son Joins Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Organisation

August 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Lady Gaga’s very LGBT-friendly Born This Way Foundation has found a new ally in the form of Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of Arnie and Maria Shriver. The surprisingly good looking 18-year-old model, actor and (apparently) entrepreneur has stepped up to support the foundations aim of fostering, ‘a more accepting society where differences are embraced and individuality is celebrated. The Foundation is dedicated to creating a safe community that helps connect young people with the skills and opportunities they need to build a kinder, braver world.’

More specifically he’s supporting an initiative between Born This Way and Office Depot for their Back-to-School campaign, which plans to release limited edition school supplies in the US to support the foundation’s mission.

Patrick says, “I think Lady Gaga is fantastic. I think her commitment to this foundation and to empower young woman and men and trying to spread a movement and spread kindness…she’s trying to end cruelty and bullying and hating. I think it’s great what she’s doing.”

The Last Stand Trailer – Arnie is back in action!

August 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Arnie is planning to come back with a vengeance, with all sorts of projects in the works. The Expendables 2 has just hit cinemas, but his real return as a leading man will come with The Last Stand when it’s released January 2013. After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow. It’s nice in the trailer that Arnie acknowledges he’s getting older, while still piling on the action.

Following a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, a notorious, wanted drug kingpin is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members.

‘He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever.
