Bohemian Rhapsody Trailer – Rami Malek takes on the legendary Freddie Mercury

July 17, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody was in the works for years, working its ways through numerous directors and potential stars before it finally settled on Bryan Singer behind the camera and Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury. However, drama hit when Singer was sensationally fired after problems on set and then taking an unscheduled break. He was replaced by Dexter Fletcher.

More controversy arose with when the first trailer completely ignored Freddie’s sexuality. It seems that’s something the marketing people have taken onboard, ensuring that in the new trailer we see talk of Mercury’s private life and even a joke about ‘hysterical Queens’ (plus a brief shot of him getting up close and personal with another guy).

Here’s the synopsis: ‘BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet.

‘The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound, their near-implosion as Mercury’s lifestyle spirals out of control, and their triumphant reunion on the eve of Live Aid, where Mercury, facing a life-threatening illness, leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock music. In the process, cementing the legacy of a band that were always more like family, and who continue to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day.’

Alongside Rami Malek, the film stars Lucy Boynton, Gwilym Lee, Ben Hardy, Joseph Mazzello, Aidan Gillen, Allen Leech, Tom Hollander and Mike Myers. Take a look at the trailer below. The film will be in cinemas on October 24th. [Read more…]

The Queen Biopic Just Got A Trio Of Hotties As The Rest Of The Band Opposite Rami Malek’s Freddie Mercury

August 22, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

For a while now Rami Malek has been set to play Freddie Mercury is the planned biopic of the rock band Queen, which Bryan Singer is planning to direct. Now they’ve cast the rest of the band, who will be joining Malek in the film, which has now been titled Bohemian Rhapsody.

Ben Hardy, the former Eastender who played Angel in Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, will be drummer Roger Taylor. Joe Mazello, who’s still best known as young Tim in Jurassic Park but has since popped up in the likes of The Social Network and G.I. Joe: Retaliation, is set to play bass guitarist John Deacon. Finally Gwilym Lee, who some will recognise from UK TV’s Midsomer Murders and recently appeared in Jamestown, will be guitarist Brian May – presumably with the trademark curly hair.

Not much has been revealed about the film, such as whether it will cover the full history of the band (at least while Mercury was alive), or just part of the tale. It’s also not certain how it will handle Freddie’s sexuality, as while it now seems to central to his story, the rest of Queen (who are producers on the movie) have sometimes tried to downplay it. However, with out director Singer involved, it shouldn’t get ignored. It is known that a previous version of the script led up to Queen’s iconic Live Aid performance at Wembley Stadium in 1985, but it’s not known if that still forms the central spine of the movie.

Filming will begin this autumn, with SInger directing from a from script by Justin Haythe. It should be in cinemas at the end of 2018.

Crush Of The Day: X-Men: Apocalypse’s Ben Hardy Is Looking Hot For Attitude

May 16, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

ben-hardy-attitude1-slideA couple of years ago the very handsome Ben Hardy was known only for playing Peter Beale in UK soap Eastenders. Not long after he hit television screen though, Hollywood came sniffing around, with his name coming up in connection with some big roles.

He was first mentioned in connection with X-Men: Apocalypse when we was on the shortlist to play the new Cyclops, before director Bryan Singer cast him as Angel. With the film in cinemas on Wednesday, it’s a good chance to take at the 25-year-old from his recent shoot with Attitude.

Ben also speaks about how the parallels between the X-Men mutants and LGBT permeates the film series, saying, “I remember [director Bryan Singer] saying that was one of the attractions of doing the first X-Men film. He felt it was something that could relate to those movement and to that kid at school who doesn’t feel like he belongs, doesn’t feel like a part of society, feels like an outcast, or feeling like they’re not a part of society.

“In terms of my character, Angel is quite angry and I put that down to him being an outsider. People who don’t get looked after enough can end up being very angry and I feel like this is where Angel’s anger comes from and maybe that gives him the potential to transform and become one of the villains.”

New X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer – What happens when mutants start to believe they’re gods?

March 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Xmen_Apocalypse_CampD_Defend-slideThe timeline may have been reset with X-Men: Days Of Future Past, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still plenty of problems between man and mutant – or more particularly in Apocalypse between mutant and mutant. Now a new trailer has dropped which suggests this is going to be one hell of a battle.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. X-Men: Apocaplyse Extended Super Bowl Spot – Things are getting serious for the mutants

February 8, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

x-men-apocalypse-trailer-slideThings were pretty precarious for the mutants in Days Of Future Past, but it looks like resetting the timeline hasn’t made their lives any easier. An extended version of the movie’s Super Bowl spot certainly suggests things are getting intense, angry and destructive.

Take a look below.

Here’s the synopsis:’Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. X-Men: Apocalypse Trailer – James McAvoy and co. go up against what may be the ultimate mutant

December 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

x-men-apocalypse-trailer-slideAfter the huge success of X-Men: Days Of Future Past, the mutant are returning with X-Men: Apocalypse, which may not have the actors from the original trilogy, but brings back the likes of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, alongside plenty of newbies, many of them playing younger versions of characters we’ve seen before.

And with Days Of Future Past resetting the timeline, it also allows for reinvented versions of characters.

Here’s the synopsis:’Following the critically acclaimed global smash hit X-Men: Days of Future Past, director Bryan Singer returns with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE. Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god.
