New The Space Between Us Trailer – Asa Butterfield is heading into space for love

January 7, 2017 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A couple of years ago Asa Butterfield was in space as the talented title character in Ender’s Game. Now he’s going back for The Space Between Us, a sci-fi teen love story. It also has a slight feel of the sort of existential science fiction the 1970s gave us.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Described as being a “star-crossed science fiction love story,” The Space Between Us follows two teens from different worlds. Gardner Elliot, the first human born on Mars, is secretly raised in an experimental colony after his astronaut mother dies during childbirth. Sixteen years later, Gardner begins an online romance with a girl living in Colorado and hatches a plan to travel across the universe to meet her. Now, on the run, with Earth’s gravity threatening his very existence, Gardner must race against time and nature to find his love and win her heart. Once united, the two teens venture to seek out the enigmatic billionaire who funded the original expedition to Mars, in hopes of uncovering information about Gardner’s mother and the mysterious circumstances surrounding how Gardner came into existence.’

Take a look at the trailer below. The movie will be out in the UK 10th February, 2017. [Read more…]

Tomorrowland: A World Beyond (Cinema Review)

May 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: George Clooney, Britt Robertson, Hugh Laurie
Director: Brad Bird
Running Time: 130 mins
Certificate: 12A
Release Date: May 22nd 2015 (UK)

I love sci-fi and to say I was looking forward to this film is an understatement. I am a huge fan of Brad Bird’s previous work, The Incredibles (2004), and his first live action film, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011), is one of the best entries in the franchise.

His films have a trademark sense of kinetic fun and action, mixed with well-formed characters and witty dialogue, which is the perfect mix for any summer blockbuster.

Tomorrowland tells the story of Casey Newton (Britt Robertson) a highly optimistic girl with smarts who has dreamt of travelling to the stars. She is arrested whilst trying to sabotage the dismantling of Cape Canaveral’s Launchpad, and upon release she discovers a mysterious pin which by touch transports her to the scientific and artistic wonder that is Tomorrowland (think Epcot designed by Apple and Syd Mead, complete with a hoverrail (hover meaning hover, rail meaning rail)). New Tomorrowland: A World Beyond Trailer – George Clooney heads for another world

April 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tomorrowland-poster1-slideGeorge Clooney has generally shied away from blockbuster type movies, but he’s hoping he’ll have a huge hit with Tomorrowland: A World Beyond – as is Disney which has spent $150 million to make the movie.

Now a new trailer has arrived.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.

‘Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.’

The film is linked to the Disneyland world it’s named after, although in the film’s world, it was Walt Disney that took inspiration from another planet, rather than the other way around. The film is out in the UK on May 22nd. [Read more…]

Tomorrowland Trailer – Plus a poster for Disney’s George Clooney starring sci-fi

March 9, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tomorrowland-poster1Disney is betting big this summer of Tomorrowland (or as they now seem to be trying to call it, Tomorrow Land – A World Beyond) as they’re hoping that it won’t just make a load of money at the box office, but could become a franchise and even help spearhead the rejuvenation of the Tomorrowland section of the Disney theme parks.

And we have to admit, it does look kind of cool.

Now a full trailer has arrived so we can get a better look at the George Clooney starrer.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland – A World Beyond,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney.

‘Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland – A World Beyond” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.

‘The film also stars Hugh Laurie as brilliant scientist David Nix, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson.

“Tomorrowland – A World Beyond” is produced by Damon Lindelof, Brad Bird and Jeffrey Chernov and directed by Brad Bird, with John Walker, Brigham Taylor, Jeff Jensen and Bernard Bellew serving as executive producers. “Tomorrowland – A World Beyond” comes to UK cinemas May 22nd 2015.’ [Read more…]

Tomorrowland Super Bowl Spot – George Clooney is getting futuristic

February 2, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tomorrowland-teaser-posterWhile the summer movie season is always jam-packed with sequels and properties that are already well-known, there are always a couple of big movies that don’t have a built in audience trying to hit it big. Tomorrowland is one of those for 2015, as despite being named after a section of Disneyland, it’s a completely original story.

Indeed, many believe Disney’s hope is that if the film is successful it will help that section of the park and spark a complete revamp, rather than the other way around.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘‘From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.’

The film is due out May 2015. [Read more…]

Tommorowland Teaser Trailer – George Clooney gives us a glimpse of the future

October 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

tomorrowland-teaser-posterDisney and director Brad Bird have been keeping their cards very close to their chest about Tomorrowland. However New York Comic Con is where they’re chosen to start the hype, keeping the intrigue by giving us a poster, pics and a teaser trailer that give us glimpses but don’t show us too much.

We also have an official plot synopsis, which reads: ‘From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney.

As you can see from the teaser, it looks like it could be pretty cool. Writer Damon Lindelof has compared the film to Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounters of a Third Kind, saying that it is all about discovery. If you’re wondering what this has to do with the part of Disneyland of the same name, the movie apparently suggests that it may have been a trip Walt Disney took to the enigmatic Tomorrowland that inspired his park.

The film is due out May 2015. Take a look at a couple of pics and the teaser trailer below. [Read more…]

Britt Robertson Confirmed To Star Opposite George Clooney In Disney’s Tomorrowland

July 19, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

britt-robertsonAfter the failure of John Carter and The Lone Ranger, you might think Disney would be shying away from projects that aren’t either animated, sequels or made by Marvel. However they’ve been putting together Tomorrowland, and recently it was rumoured they were eyeing Britt Robertson or Naomi Scott for the female lead role.

Now it’s been confirmed that Under The Dome and Secret Circle star Robertson has won the role and signed onto the movie. Disney released a brief casting announcement saying she’s going to be in the film, along with the info that, ‘In the film, a high school girl with an unconventional understanding of technology is launched on a journey to reclaim her future.’

Previous details have suggested that her character approaches a cranky inventor named Frank (George Clooney) to unravel the mystery behind Tomorrowland, a world that exists in a parallel dimension to ours. Hugh Laurie has been cast as the villain, with Raffey Cassidy playing a child robot who joins Casey and Frank on their journey.

Brad Bird is directing Tomorrowland from a screenplay by Damon Lindelof and Jeff Jensen. A December 12, 2014 release date has already been set.

Britt Robertson & Naomi Scott Testing For Tomorrowland Female Lead

June 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

britt-robertsonGeorge Clooney is already set for Tomorrowland and now director Brad Bird is looking for a female lead to star opposite him. He’s narrowing things down, with THR reporting that Britt Robertson (The Secret Circle, Under the Dome) and Naomi Scott (Terra Nova) are testing for role.

The studio has reportedly spent months searching for the right actress, with Shailene Woodley considered as an early candidate.

Both actresses will undergo a full hair and makeup test in Vancouver next month for the role of Casey Newton, who’s described as a rebellious teenage girl who approaches a cranky inventor named Frank (Clooney) to unravel the mystery behind Tomorrowland, a world that exists in a parallel dimension to ours. The Casey Newton part has been described as a “star-making” opportunity for whoever is chosen.
