New The Hateful Eight Trailer – Quentin Tarantino traps people in a blizzard

November 6, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hateful-eight-slideSynopsis: In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice.

Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces.

Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…

The movie will be in cinemas early next year.

The Hateful Eight Trailer – Quentin Tarantino traps people in a blizzard

August 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hateful-eight-slideAfter a false start where he said he wasn’t going to make The Hateful Eight due to a script leak, Quentin Tarantino’s film is in the can and heading for release at the end of the year. But what’s this return to the 19th Century American West like? Well, the first full trailer as arrived to give us a feel.

And who are the ‘eight’?: Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Michael Madsen and Bruce Dern.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. Take A Look At Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight – Kurt Russell, Tim Roth & More

May 10, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

hateful-eight-ew-pic3After throwing his toys out of the pram and saying he wasn’t go to make the movie, due to a script leak, Quentin Tarantino changed his mind and The Hateful Eight is now in the can and heading for a Christmas release.

To help prepare us EW has given us a look at the eight of the title, Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, Michael Madsen and Bruce Dern. It’s certainly a mix of old and new faces for Tarantino, and there’s also a small turn in the movie for Channing Tatum.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Twixt (DVD)

October 28, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Val Kilmer, Elle Fanning, Bruce Dern, Ben Chaplin, Joanne Whalley
Director: Francis Ford Coppola
Running Time: 88 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: October 28th 2013

It’s taken quite a while to get Francis Ford Coppola’s Twixt to the UK, but now it’s here. While famed for the likes of The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, recently Coppola has gone much smaller with Youth Without Youth, Tetro and now Twixt. It’s an odd yet intriguing film, which feels more like the work of someone early in their career than a grand-old-man like Coppola.

Val Kilmer plays Hall Baltimore, a struggling writer who arrives in a strange town that we’re told is a peculiar place where evil may lurk. As Hall attempts to write a book, he gets sucked into an old murder mystery, which spans both everything from possible vampires and a seeming dream-world to a ghost called V and being visited by Edgar Allan Poe. Nebraska Trailer – Will Forte & Bruce Dern star in the latest from Sideways director Alexander Payne

September 17, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Alexander Payne’s Nebraska has been generating interest at film festivals, and now we get to take out first look at the black and white film. Payne has been trying to make the film for years. Now it’s in the can and set for an Oscar qualifying US run later this year.

The movie follows Bruce Dern as a struggling alcoholic who believes he has won a sweepstakes lottery, so he hops in the car with his underachiever of a son (Will Forte) to claim his prize. ‘Shot in black and white across four states, Nebraska tells the stories of family life in the heartland of America.’

Black and white is going to be a tough sell to mainstream audiences, but Payne’s films are almost always worth a look. [Read more…]

Bob Odenkirk On For Alexander Payne’s Nebraska

September 4, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Having started out as a writer on Saturday Night Live, Bob Odenkirk is best known for out and out comedy, usually of the rather silly type, but more recently he’s been flexing his muscles in Breaking Bad.

Now he’s teaming up with director Alexander Payne (Sideways, The Descendants) for Nebraska, with Omaha.com reporting that Stacey Keach is also aboard. June Squibb, who played Jack Nicholson’s wife in About Schmidt is in talks to play Dern’s other half in this.

The long-gestating project, which Payne has been working on for years, will follow Bruce Dern as a struggling alcoholic who believes he has won a sweepstakes lottery, so he hops in the car with his underachiever of a son (Will Forte) to claim his prize.

Odenkirk will play Forte’s older brother, while Stacey Keach is set to be an old colleague of Dern’s grumpy central figure. The movie set to start shooting on October 15.

Alexander Payne Seeks Bruce Dern & Will Forte For Nebraska

May 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It took Alexander Payne seven years to get a follow-up to Sideways made, but he’s hoping that it’ll be a lot quicker to get his low budget movie Nebraska made. Deadline reports that he’s already thinking about casting it, and has zeroed on on the actors he wants for the lead role, Bruce Dern and Will Forte.

While neither actor has been approached yet, the chance to work with Payne will be tough to pass up, so we’d expect them to sign on. If they do, Dern will play a struggling alcoholic who believes he has won a sweepstakes lottery, so he hops in the car with his underachiever of a son (Forte) to claim his prize.

While SNL star Forte is only really known for full-on comedy, he’s struck me as a versatile talent. Payne obviously agrees, and believes he can do justice to his brand of drier humour. The director hopes to shoot the black and white road trip film before the end of the year.
