Paternity Leave Trailer – How would a gay male couple deal with one of them getting pregnant?

July 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paternity-leave-slide2We enjoyed Paternity Leave when we reviewed it a couple of weeks ago, but at that time there wasn’t a trailer we could show you for Matt Riddlehoover’s latest movie.

That’s changed though as the first proper promo has arrived, which you can watch below.

The film, ‘is a romantic comedy about Greg (Jacob York), Ken (Charlie David), and a moment of passion on the eve of their four year anniversary that changes the course of their lives forever.

‘Greg begins feeling nauseated, fatigued, moody and – most unfortunately – fat. At his wit’s end and Ken’s insistence, he sees a doctor who’s stumped and refers the couple to a specialist. To everyone’s amazement, Greg is pregnant. Shock, stress, and fear settle in, and Greg’s relationship gets put to the ultimate test.

‘Co-starring Chris Salvatore (Eating Out: All You Can Eat, Drama Camp, The Open Weekend), Paternity Leave poses a modern answer to the age old question: “Are we ready to be parents?”‘

Paternity Leave is now playing festivals, and is available for pre-order at PaternityLeaveFilm.com. [Read more…]

Paternity Leave (Review)

July 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jacob York, Charlie David, Chris Salvatore, Darrin Otto
Director: Matt Riddlehoover
Running Time: 90 mins
Certificate: NR

Director Matt Riddlehoover has been described as gay cinema’s answer to Woody Allen. It’s difficult to know whether he’s consciously thinking about that when he makes his movies, but there are definitely a lot of echoes of Woody in his work.

With Paternity Leave those echoes are particularly of some of Allen’s earlier work, where he took an absurdist situation but then didn’t treat it in an overtly over the top, silly way. The movie follows boyfriends Greg (Jacob York) and Ken (Charlie David), who’ve been together for four years, but whose lives are flipped upside-down when Greg discovers that he’s pregnant. More Scenes From A Gay Marriage (US DVD Review)

December 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Matt Riddlehoover, Jared Allman, Thashana McQuiston, Charlie David
Director: Matt Riddlehoover
Running Time: 93 mins
Certificate: NR
Release Date: December 2nd 2014 (UK)

More Scenes From A Gay Marriage starts out with a dangerous gambit. As its title suggests, it’s a follow-up to Scenes From A Gay Marriage, a film that asked us to root for its main characters, Darren (Matt Riddlehoover) and Joe (Jared Allman), to get together by the end. However the sequel opens with trouble in paradise as the duo have now decided they’re going to split up.

So much for happily ever after! But then, that’s part of what the movie is about – suggesting that quite often films give us a neatly packaged and unrealistic version of reality, and that real life is often more messy. [Read more…]

First Look At Chris Salvatore & Charlie David In Matt Riddlehoover’s Gay-Themed Comedy Paternity Leave

September 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Chris-Salvatore-Charlie-David-Paternity-LeaveWhile we won’t get to see the new comedy Paternity Leave until 2015, our first look at the movie has slipped out with a making of… featurette, which gives us our first view of the gorgeous likes of Charlie David, Chris Salvatore, and Jacob York in the film, as well as director Matt Riddlehoover (Scenes From A Gay Marriage) hard at work on the set. Take a look at it below.

In the film Greg (Jacob York) finds out that he’s pregnant with his partner Ken’s (Charlie David) baby. Dumbstruck by the news, their relationship takes twists and turns through hardship and hilarity, while we’re left wondering if they’re going to make it through the most unexpected and difficult period of their lives together. Chris Salvatore also stars.

However to get it all finished it needs your help, as the movie has launched an IndieGoGo campaign with the hope of raising $5,000 in post-production funding, which will help with things such as 2nd unit photography, editing, sound mix, music licensing, and color correction. So if you want to make sure Chris, Charlie and Jacob look and sound all they they should be, you’ll have to head over the IndieGoGo.

And if you need to know why they should always look their best, take a look at the pics of Chris Salvatore and Charlie David in the links. [Read more…]

Scenes From A Gay Marriage Sequel Needs Your Help

Jared Allman from Scenes From A Gay Marriage

Jared Allman & Matt Riddlehoover in Scenes From A Gay Marriage

Back in June, a sequel to Matt Riddlehoover’s Scenes From A Gay Marriage was announced. Now the movie, More Scenes From A Gay Marriage, is looking for funding to find the final cash needed to get the film made. It’s currently running a campaign on Indiegogo and has already raised a good chunk of the $5,000 it needs, but it’s still got some cash to raise.

The movie ‘picks up two years after the original left off. A gay-themed film (starring Charlie David and Rett Terrell) has been made about how Darren (Matt Riddlehoover) and Joe (Jared Allman) met and fell in love. As a result of the film’s success, Darren and Joe begin to question whether their domestic partnership is as exciting or romantic as what led up to it…’

Thashana McQuiston will be reprise her role as Darren’s sharp-tongued gal pal Luce, while Rodiney Santiago will also co-star as a sexy male masseur.

You can take a look at what we thought of Scenes From A Gay Marriage here, which should whet your apettite to ensure a follow-up gets made. Head over to Indiegogo for more info, including what goodies are on offer to those who donate.

Plot Revealed For Matt Riddlehoover’s New Gay Themed Film As Funding Campaign Is Launched

September 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Over the last couple of months we’ve posted a few stories about Matt Riddlehoover’s planned new gay-themed film, mainly concerning the casting for the movie. The likes Chris Crocker, Josey Greenwell, Charlie David, Jared Allman, Enrique Sapene, and Scenes From A Gay Marriage helmer Riddlehoover himself, are all set to appear in the movie. However what we haven’t known is the plot of the film.

Now a fundraising campaign has been launched over at IndieGoGo, and with it we’ve got some info on the story. Here it is, ‘Two men – a Venezuelan med student (Enrique Sapene) and an American actor-turned-massage therapist (Matt Riddlehoover) – meet and fall in love. They begin living together in a quaint West Hollywood apartment, along with their fitness guru roommate (Cesar D’ La Torre). On the eve of their one-year anniversary, the Venezuelan’s aunt (Maria Conchita Alonso) unexpectedly shows up. She’s a wreck, in the middle of a very difficult time, and expects to stay until she’s back on her feet.

‘To complicate matters further, the Venezuelan’s mother (Alonso, in a dual role) flies in for an extended stay. She’s old fashioned, God fearing, and outwardly disapproves of her son’s sexuality. Understandably, the couple’s flame begins to dwindle. Hoping to rekindle their relationship, they head Southeast to a property where the American spent his childhood. However, they are unaware that his unemployed brother (Charlie David) currently occupies the house with a group of misfit friends.

‘There’s one who’s reeling from a recent gay bashing (Chris Crocker), and another who’s hysterical from an unwanted pregnancy (Thashana McQuiston). Meanwhile, the brother – who is also gay – finds himself caught between romantic entanglements (Jonathan D. Lovitz and Josey Greenwell). During a storm-induced power outage, the couple must decide what’s most important… their relationship, families, or individual sanity!’

If that sounds like something you’d like to see, then the IndieGoGo campaign is currently looking for $25,000 to help with a range of production needs. You can find out more over at the IndiGogo site, and/or by watching the video below. A variety of great perks are available for contributing to the film’s IndieGoGo campaign, from a digital download of the film to a signed copy of the DVD, a producer credit to an on-set visit.

Shooting on the currently untitled movie will begin Spring 2013. Half of the film will be shot in and around Los Angeles, California. The other half will be shot in the mountains of Hiawassee, Georgia, and a waterfront location in Charleston, South Carolina.

Chris Crocker & Josey Greenwell Join Matt Riddlehoover’s New Film

September 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Scenes From A Gay Marriage director Matt Riddlehoover is busy putting together his new movie, and he’s now added two names from the world of the internet to the cast list, Chris Crocker & Josey Greenwell.

Crocker first found fame with his ‘leave Britney alone’ Vlog, and has since become a internet celeb, producing music, flirting with gay porn (including some very revealing photographs) and managing to gets fans and haters in equal measure. Josey Greenwell meanwhile is a singer-songwriter who got national attention when he was dropped by his Nashville-based record label because he was gay. Since then he’s continued to perform, as well as getting into modelling, Youtube vids and now the movies.

The two internet stars will appear alongside Charlie David, Enrique Sapene, and Riddlehoover in the as-yet-untitled comedy, which is slated to shoot in Georgia next year. The cast also includes Maria Conchita Alonso and Jared Allman, who appear in Riddlehoover’s upcoming releases Return to Babylon and Scenes from a Gay Marriage.

In the coming weeks, a crowd source funding campaign will be launched on IndieGoGo for the production, at which time the film’s plot will be revealed.

Director Matt Riddlehoover Eyes The Cast For His New Comedy

August 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We here at BGPS have been slightly excited about Matt Riddlehoover’s upcoming movie, Scenes From A Gay Marriage, and not only because because of the ridiculous hotness of the movie’s cast (and if you don’t believe us, check out these pics and/or the trailer).

Now we’ve had word from Matt that he’s already planning his next, currently untitled, film and has started filling out the cast. Actors involved include the stalwart actress Maria Conchita Alonso (The Running Man, Desperate Housewives, Predator 2) and one of the current kings of gay-themed cinema, Charlie David (Mulligans, Judas Kiss – and if you fancy some hot pics of him, head here).

Riddlehoover is also eyeing Jared Allman (Sundance Channel’s Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys), Enrique Sapene (VH1’s ¡Viva Hollywood!), Carson Nicely (Scenes from a Gay Marriage) and Jonathan D. Lovitz (Logo’s Setup Squad) for roles, as well as Los Angeles; Atlanta, GA; and Charleston, SC as settings for the film.

In the coming weeks, a crowd source funding campaign will be launched on IndieGoGo for the comedy – and I’m sure we’ll provide you with a link once it does. It’s slated to begin shooting in 2013. Hopefully we’ll find out more about the plot when the funding drive kicks in.
