Coffee House Chronicles: The Movie (DVD Review) – Gay gays meeting & hooking up gets the anthology treatment

April 8, 2018 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Drew Droege, David Pevsner, Chris Salvatore, Nicholas Downs
Director: Stewart Wade
Running Time: 75 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: April 9th 2018 (UK)

Coffee House Chronicles was originally an anthology Youtube web series, but here the episodes get pulled together and slightly recut to turn them into a movie. While that may sound like a slightly cheating way to monetise the show, it actually works surprisingly well. As individual episodes they were quite fun, but pulled together thye add up to more than the sum of their parts, allowing it to layer together a light look at the way modern gay men relate to one another.

The film consists of a series of first encounters (mostly) between gay men, most of which – as the title suggests – take place in coffee houses. These meetings range from a man realising his ‘date’ is much younger than he’s said he was, to someone in a long-term relationship trying to organise sex with a porn star for his boyfriend. There’s also a trans man on his first date with a woman after transitioning, and two zombie extras in a movie figuring out if they want to go on a date even though they don’t know what they really look like under the makeup. Paternity Leave Trailer – How would a gay male couple deal with one of them getting pregnant?

July 21, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paternity-leave-slide2We enjoyed Paternity Leave when we reviewed it a couple of weeks ago, but at that time there wasn’t a trailer we could show you for Matt Riddlehoover’s latest movie.

That’s changed though as the first proper promo has arrived, which you can watch below.

The film, ‘is a romantic comedy about Greg (Jacob York), Ken (Charlie David), and a moment of passion on the eve of their four year anniversary that changes the course of their lives forever.

‘Greg begins feeling nauseated, fatigued, moody and – most unfortunately – fat. At his wit’s end and Ken’s insistence, he sees a doctor who’s stumped and refers the couple to a specialist. To everyone’s amazement, Greg is pregnant. Shock, stress, and fear settle in, and Greg’s relationship gets put to the ultimate test.

‘Co-starring Chris Salvatore (Eating Out: All You Can Eat, Drama Camp, The Open Weekend), Paternity Leave poses a modern answer to the age old question: “Are we ready to be parents?”‘

Paternity Leave is now playing festivals, and is available for pre-order at PaternityLeaveFilm.com. [Read more…]

Paternity Leave (Review)

July 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Jacob York, Charlie David, Chris Salvatore, Darrin Otto
Director: Matt Riddlehoover
Running Time: 90 mins
Certificate: NR

Director Matt Riddlehoover has been described as gay cinema’s answer to Woody Allen. It’s difficult to know whether he’s consciously thinking about that when he makes his movies, but there are definitely a lot of echoes of Woody in his work.

With Paternity Leave those echoes are particularly of some of Allen’s earlier work, where he took an absurdist situation but then didn’t treat it in an overtly over the top, silly way. The movie follows boyfriends Greg (Jacob York) and Ken (Charlie David), who’ve been together for four years, but whose lives are flipped upside-down when Greg discovers that he’s pregnant. First Look At Chris Salvatore & Charlie David In Matt Riddlehoover’s Gay-Themed Comedy Paternity Leave

September 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Chris-Salvatore-Charlie-David-Paternity-LeaveWhile we won’t get to see the new comedy Paternity Leave until 2015, our first look at the movie has slipped out with a making of… featurette, which gives us our first view of the gorgeous likes of Charlie David, Chris Salvatore, and Jacob York in the film, as well as director Matt Riddlehoover (Scenes From A Gay Marriage) hard at work on the set. Take a look at it below.

In the film Greg (Jacob York) finds out that he’s pregnant with his partner Ken’s (Charlie David) baby. Dumbstruck by the news, their relationship takes twists and turns through hardship and hilarity, while we’re left wondering if they’re going to make it through the most unexpected and difficult period of their lives together. Chris Salvatore also stars.

However to get it all finished it needs your help, as the movie has launched an IndieGoGo campaign with the hope of raising $5,000 in post-production funding, which will help with things such as 2nd unit photography, editing, sound mix, music licensing, and color correction. So if you want to make sure Chris, Charlie and Jacob look and sound all they they should be, you’ll have to head over the IndieGoGo.

And if you need to know why they should always look their best, take a look at the pics of Chris Salvatore and Charlie David in the links. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Chris Salvatore models his new underwear line

February 20, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

chris-salvatore-underwear-pic1
Ever since we first clapped eyes on him in the Eating Out film series, we’ve loved us a bit of Chris Salvatore. However not content with acting, music and modelling, the openly gay Chris is now heading into the world of fashion with his own underwear line.

And of course, who better to show off those undies than Chris himself? Alongside the launch of the range we’ve also been graced with plenty of shots of Salvatore wearing nothing but his skimpy new items of clothing.

Take a look at those images and a short video below, and if you want to know more, more, head over to the Chris Salvatore Underwear website. [Read more…]

Crush Of The Day: Eating Out’s Chris Salvatore Gets Wet & Shirtless

July 26, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

chris-savaltore-gdx6-slide
Fans of the Eating Out franchise will recognise Chris Salvatore as the sexy Zack, who spent the final three films negotiating the ups and downs of his relationship with Casey. As well as acting, Salvatore is an actor and model, and now he’s gone in front of photographer Gabriel Gastelum’s lens for a series of pics that really show off Chris’ best assets.

The images help Salvatore show off a red lifeguard brief from Charlie by Matthew Zink, the luxury swim lifestyle brand that says it is “dedicated to the seduction of the perfect bikini.”

Personally we’re surprised that he ever wears anything else. Enjoy the pics below (click on them for larger versions). (Pics via gdxblog) [Read more…]

Eating Out: The Open Weekend (DVD)

March 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Starring: Chris Salvatore, Daniel Skelton, Aaron Milo, Harmony Santana, Michael Vara
Director: Q. Allan Brocka
Running Time: 90 mins
Certificate: 18
Release Date: March 26th, 2012

The Eating Out films are a bit of an achievement, as I can’t think of any film series made with an almost exclusively gay audience in mind that’s managed to reach five instalments. After last year’s extremely fun and breezy Drama Camp, the guys are now back for The Open Weekend.

Zack (Chris Salvatore) and his new boyfriend Benji (Aaron Milo) head for a gay resort in Palm Springs for a weekend getaway. Benji has managed to get Zack to agree to having an open relationship while they’re away, even though Zack’s not keen and only said yes to keep his new beau happy. Also at the resort is Zack’s ex, Casey, who ends up pretending he has a new boyfriend, who’s actually an old friend he’s only just met up with again. [Read more…]
