Kick-Ass 2 International Trailer – More fun from the masked vigilantes

March 27, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The recently released US trailer for Kick-Ass 2 concentrated on the manic action and masked vigilante insanity of the movie, but this new UK promo is a little quieter, with a bit more plot and a bigger emphasis on Hit Girl’s story in the film, where she has to deal with trying to be a normal teen, despite having been brought up an ass-kicking superhero.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2.  After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol.  When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation.

‘When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave.  With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy.  Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own.  With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes.

‘Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets,  the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad.  But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.’

It hits UK cinemas on July 19th, before it hits the US on August 16th.

chloe-moretzChloe Moretz is in talks to take the lead role in Summit Entertainment’s upcoming supernatural drama If I Stay. Variety also reports that documentary helmer R.J. Cutler is looking to direct the movie, which is based on Gayle Forman’s romantic novel.

Assuming she signs on, the young Kick-Ass and Dark Shadows star will play classical music prodigy Mia who, after a fatal car crash on a snowy road in Oregon, finds herself drifting between life and death. She must make a decision whether to give in and die or try to fight her way back to life.

R.J. Cutler, who’s best known for the documentaries The September Issue and The World According to Dick Cheney, will make his fiction feature debut. He takes over the reins from Catherine Hardwicke, who was previously attached to helm.

New Carrie Poster Online – Meet Julianne Moore’s Margaret White

January 15, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

carrie-teaser-poster2
It’s still a few months until the remake of Carrie hits cinemas in November, due to the fact it’s been put back from its originally planned Spring release. However to keep us interested, Sony has released a new poster via Latino Review, which shows us Julianne Moore’s Margaret White.

If you know Stephen King’s novel or the 1976 film version, you’ll know that Margaret isn’t not exactly the nicest of people. She is Carrie’s (Chloe Moretz) mother and a bit of a religious zealot monster who believes her daughter’s newfound powers are evil and just about everything she does goes against God.

Carrie’s homelife is as bad as school, where the quiet young girl is laughed at and bullied – something that comes to a head when the popular people play a prank on her at the prom. Judy Greer, Gabriella Wilde, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell and Michelle Nolden also star.

Tim Robbins To Direct Man Under, With Michelle Pfeiffer & Chloe Moretz Set To Star

November 8, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Tim Robbins hasn’t directed a movie since Cradle Will Rock in 1999, but he’s now planning to step back behind the camera, and plans are advanced enough that he’s started building the cast. Robbins is set to both helm and star in the family drama Man Under, with Michelle Pfeiffer and Chloe Moretz also onboard.

Variety reports that the movie follows a family from Yonkers that see their lives “changed forever when a photo of them ends up in the Museum of Modern Art.” The script was written by Ann Cherkis, whose only previously produced credit is the 2007 film The Secret, which starred David Duchovny and Lili Taylor.

Back in August it was reported that Robbins had also signed up to direct City Of Lies, but apparently the script for that still needs work and so he’s hoping to slot in Man Under first.

It’s all going up in flames in the remake of Carrie – at least that’s what this teaser trailer promises, with Chloe Moretz covered in blood, after having gone a bit pyrokinetic. The film is a reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White, a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom. The movie’s due out April 5th, 2013.

Written by first-time filmmaker Michael Johnson, The Wilderness Of James is a coming-of-age drama that sees Kodi Smit-McPhee playing a boy coming to grips with the absence of his father. Fuhrman will take on the female lead Val. As when Moretz was in contention for the role, there are no other details about her character.

Chloe Moretz Circling The Wilderness of James

August 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Chloe Moretz has certainly built quite a career for herself, and she’s still only 15. The actress, who will soon be seen playing the title role in the remake of Carrie, is currently in talks to join Michael Johnson’s directorial debut The Wilderness Of James, according to Deadline.

The indie film is set in Portland and follows a young boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who is struggling to cope with the death of his father. The actress will play Val, although not a lot more is known about the character. The two actors of course last worked together in Matt Reeves’s Let Me In. Michael Johnson will be directing from his own screenplay.

Moretz is also set to return as Hit Girl in Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall, but may slot in The Wilderness Of James first, which starts shooting next month.
