Bridget Jones’ Baby Trailer – Renee Zellweger doesn’t know if Colin Firth or Patrick Dempsey’s the dad

March 23, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bridget-jones-baby-slideSynopsis: ‘Oscar® winners Renée Zellweger and Colin Firth are joined by Patrick Dempsey for the next chapter of the world’s favorite singleton in Bridget Jones’s Baby.  Directed by Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’s Diary), the new film in the beloved comedy series based on creator Helen Fielding’s heroine finds Bridget unexpectedly expecting.

‘After breaking up with Mark Darcy (Firth), Bridget Jones’s (Zellweger) “happily ever after” hasn’t quite gone according to plan.  Fortysomething and single again, she decides to focus on her job as top news producer and surround herself with old friends and new.  For once, Bridget has everything completely under control.  What could possibly go wrong?

‘Then her love life takes a turn and Bridget meets a dashing American named Jack (Dempsey), the suitor who is everything Mr. Darcy is not.  In an unlikely twist she finds herself pregnant, but with one hitch…she can only be fifty percent sure of the identity of her baby’s father.

‘The much-anticipated third installment of the Bridget Jones’s franchise welcomes fellow Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson to the cast.  Longtime collaborators Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title Films produce alongside Debra Hayward.  Universal Pictures will distribute Bridget Jones’s Baby in North America and select international territories.’

The film is due out September 16th. [Read more…]

Genius Trailer – Colin Firth plays the man who helped discover Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald & Thomas Wolfe

March 18, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

geniusGenius has been in the works for a long time – Colin Firth first attached himself to it back in 2012 – but it’s only now that it’s in the can and the first trailer for the movie has arrived. While a movie about a book editor doesn’t sound that interesting, as it’s about a man who helped the likes of Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald get published, it’s certainly got potential.

The film doesn’t concentrate on either of those authors though, instead focusing on the birth of Thomas Wolfe as a literary force.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From Academy Award-nominated screenwriter JOHN LOGAN (Gladiator, The Aviator, Hugo, Skyfall) and acclaimed, Tony Award-winning director MICHAEL GRANDAGE in his feature film debut, comes Genius, a stirring drama about the complex friendship and transformative professional relationship between the world-renowned book editor Maxwell Perkins (who discovered F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway) and the larger-than-life literary giant Thomas Wolfe. Based on the biography “Max Perkins: Editor of Genius” by A. SCOTT BERG, Genius stars COLIN FIRTH as Perkins, JUDE LAW as Wolfe, NICOLE KIDMAN as Aline Bernstein, a costume designer sharing a tumultuous relationship with Wolfe, LAURA LINNEY as Louise Perkins, Max’s wife and a talented playwright, GUY PEARCE as F. Scott Fitzgerald and DOMINIC WEST as Ernest Hemingway.’

The film will be out later this year. [Read more…]

Fresh Look At Renee Zellweger, Patrick Dempsey & Colin Firth In Bridget Jones’ Baby

December 22, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

bridget-jones-baby-ew2-slideBridget Jones is coming back to the world of film, although due to Hugh Grant deciding not to return, it’ll be a different story to the one told in Helen Fielding’s books. Instead of Grant we’ve got the addition of Patrick Dempsey alongside the returning Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth.

Back in October we got our first pic of Zellweger in the third Bridget movie, and now a few more have arrived via EW, giving us a further taste of the movie.

Things won’t be too different in the movie despite the lack of Hugh Grant, as once more she’s stuck between two attractive men, but the main issue this time is that she’s pregnant and isn’t 100% sure which of them is the dad. However, despite being preggers, we can expect Bridget to once more be a bit clumsy and prone to fnding herself in awkward situations.

Take a look at the new pics below. The movie will arrive in cinemas next autumn.

Kingsman: The Secret Service (Cinema Review)

January 27, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Colin Firth, Mark Strong, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Caine, Taron Egerton
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Running Time: 124 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: January 29th 2015

The idea of updating James Bond and making him a younger character has been done before – witness the Alex Cross films and even Jason Bourne. Matthew Vaughan’s attempt, with a script by Jane Goldman, could have worked in theory, but it doesn’t, because of disastrous shifts in tone, and dreadfully cynical product placements. Director Vaughan seems to have become so carried away with his Kick-Ass franchise that he has transposed the idea to Britain, but used pretty much the same formula. The result leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth, which is a shame, because there are a few strengths on display here. [Read more…]

New Kingsman: The Secret Service Trailer – Fresh look at Colin Firth in Matthew Vaughn’s film

September 23, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

kingsman-the-secret-service-slideMatthew Vaughn has had great success taking properties with plenty of potential but which aren’t necessarily that well known to the masses – such as Stardust and Kick-Ass – and he’ll be hoping to do the same with Kingsman: The Secret Service, which like Kick-Ass is based on a comic by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons.

Now a new trailer has arrived which you can watch below.

Out Actor Ben Whishaw Set To Replace Colin Firth As The Voice Of Paddington

July 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

paddington-preview-pic2When a live action/CG version of the classic character Paddington was announced, Colin Firth was due to voice the bear. He stuck with the project right up until last month, when just five months before release he dropped out, suggesting he didn’t think he could do the bear justice.

Now we know who will replace him, as The Daily Mail says out actor Ben Whishaw has taken over the role.

As it’s just the voice work that’s changing, the movie is still on track to make its November UK release and Christmas US release.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘From the producer of Harry Potter and Gravity, Paddington comes to the big screen for the first time in an epic new adventure.

‘Featuring an all-star cast and effects courtesy of award-winning VFX company Framestore, Paddington is THE big family film of Christmas. Voted Best Animated Character at the 2012 British Animation Awards, and adapted from Michael Bond’s beloved books, Paddington follows the comic misadventures of a polite young bear with an endearing talent for comic chaos.

‘Paddington has grown up deep in the Peruvian jungle with his Aunt Lucy who, inspired by a chance encounter with an English explorer, has raised her nephew to dream of an exciting life in London. When an earthquake destroys their home, Aunt Lucy decides to smuggle her young nephew on board a boat bound for England, in search of a better life. Arriving alone at Paddington Station, Paddington soon finds that city life is not all he had imagined – until he meets the kindly Brown family, who find him with a label tied around his neck which reads ‘Please look after this bear. Thank you.’ They offer him a temporary home whilst he searches for the explorer who impressed Aunt Lucy all those years before.

‘But when Paddington catches the eye of a sinister, seductive taxidermist, it isn’t long before his home – and very existence – is under threat.’

You can take a look at the latest trailer – which is obviously minus Whishaw’s voice – here.

Before I Go To Sleep Trailer – Nicole Kidman & Colin Firth team for a psychological thriller

July 2, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

before-i-go-to-sleep-uk-posterNicole Kidman and Colin Firth have been spending a lot of time together recently, as they played husband and wife in The Railway Man, and now they’ve re-teamed for the psychological thriller Before I Go To Sleep.

Now the first trailer have arrived, which you can watch below.

Rowan Joffe (Brighton Rock) direct the movie, which is a little bit like 50 First Dates turned into a thriller. The movie follows a woman (Kidman) with amnesia who wakes up each day and must re-start her memories by finding out who she is from a journal that she keeps. However as terrifying new truths emerge she is forced to question everyone around her.

Firth is once more playing Kidman’s husband, and he may not be telling her the whole truth.

As September 5th UK release date is currently set. [Read more…]

paddington-preview-pic2After a couple of images yesterday, we can now get our best look yet at the live-action/CG version of Paddington with a full trailer. Unlike previous promos, this one shows the bear in action, and it’s actually more effective than I thought it might be.
