Crush Of The Day: Darren Criss Makes The Internet Mega-Thirsty With A Nearly Nude Selfie

May 31, 2017 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Darren Criss spent most of his time on Glee proving how cute he was. Now that he’s shooting American Crime Story: Versace, he seems keen to show he’s not just cute, he’s one hot mother…

A couple of weeks ago the web was filled with pics of Criss on set wearing the skimpiest speedos the world has ever seen. However, Darren has now decided that he was perhaps wearing too many clothes as that point, as he’s now posted a pic where the speedos are off and only just covering his modesty.

As Criss asks in the instagram snap, ‘So what’s more red? My sunburn, my speedo, or YOUR FACE???‬’

The actor is playing Andrew Cunanan in American Crime Story: Versace who went of a killing spree that took the lives of at least five people, including famed fashion designer Gianni Versace. It will air on TV later this year.

Take a look at the very hot (and red) pic below. [Read more…]

Darren Criss To Lead Hedwig And The Angry Inch On Its US Tour

May 9, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

darren-criss-hedwigFollowing on from it’s incredibly successful run on Broadway, Hedwig And The Angry Inch is heading out on the road for a US tour. It’s been announced that one of the people who played the title role in New York will be back for the first two stops in LA & San Francisco – Darren Criss.

The former Glee star played Hedwig from April to July last year, and will now be back when the show hits San Francisco from October 4th to 30th and LA from November 1st to 27th. Indeed he’ll be having a bit of a musicals year, as he’s also set to play Prince Eric in Disney’s The Little Mermaid at the Hollywood Bowl next month. It’s certainly two very different roles for the actor.

It’s not known who will play Hedwig after San Franciso and LA. The Broadway production swapped the person in the lead role every 12 weeks or so (starting with Neil Patrick Harris’ Tony-winning turn, before the likes of Andrew Rannell, Michael C. Hall, Criss, Taye Diggs and the show’s creator, John Cameron Mitchell, took over), and the tour may do the same every couple of stops.

Hedwig is the show’s East German title character, who was left with an angry inch after a botched sex change operation that she had in order to get into the US with her American GI lover. Hedwig then started dating young Tommy Gnosis, who left her behind when he took her music and became a rock star – leaving her understandably bitter (but still very funny).

First Pic Of Darren Criss As Hedwig Arrives

April 13, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

darren-criss-hedwigWe’ve had Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall and the recent stint from John Cameron Mitchell playing Broadway’s take on Hedwig And The Angry Inch, and now it’s Glee star Darren Criss’ turn.

And in what has fast become a bit on an anticipated tradition, we’ve not got the first pic of the actor in the character’s glittery make-up. He does look pretty, although less androgymous than you might expect.

Criss is playing the role on Broadway from April 29th to July 19th.

Crush Of The Day: Darren Criss Gets Shirtless For A Big Parody

December 9, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

darren-criss-bigIt’s gender role reversal time with a Big parody starring Evan Rachel Wood and Darren Criss. However it’s Wood who’s in the Tom Hanks role, while Criss takes the role that was originally played by Elizabeth Perkins.

The Funny Or Die vid will put a smile on your face and just to add a little bit more interest, the ever-cute Criss isn’t afraid to take his shirt off.

Glee star Darren isn’t a stranger to parody, as before he was dating Kurt at McKinley High, he came to the entertainment world’s attention with a comedy musical take of Harry Potter, where he took the lead role.

Take a look at the Big parody video below. [Read more…]

New Girl Most Likely Trailer – Kristen Wiig and Darren Criss get quirky

May 3, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Kristen Wiig’s passion project, Girl Most Likely (previously known as Imogene) is heading for cinemas this July, and now a new trailer has dropped to give us a taste of its quirky sense of humour.

Wiig plays Imogene, who stages a fake suicide in the hope of winning back her ex. However her plan works a bit too well, as everyone thinks she really was trying to kill herself and so they put her in the custody of her gambling addict mother (Annette Bening). Imogene is thrust back into a life she hoped she’d left behind, but discovers that perhaps the things she’s shunned are just what she needs.

Darren Criss, Matt Dillon and Natasha Lyonne also star.

Darren Criss Turns ‘Call Me Maybe’ Into A Gay Rights Anthem

April 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Darren Criss took to the stage at the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles over the weekend to sing a different version of Carly Rae Jepsen’s ‘Call Me Maybe’, which was turned into a call for the end of DOMA (the Defence Of Marriage Act) and Prop. 8.

While Criss claims these are the original lyrics, I think it’s safe to say he’s pulling our leg the Jepsen didn’t originally intend to sing “Hey Supreme Court, we say no hate, so good-bye DOMA, and so long Prop 8.”

Take a look above. [Read more…]

Leo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire & Jennifer Lawrence Out For GLAAD Media Awards (But Bret Easton Ellis says he was banned)

April 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

glaad-media-awards-slide
The stars were out in force on Saturday night for the GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, where Bill Clinton was handed the ‘Advocate for Change Award’ by Harvey Weinstein and Jennifer Lawrence, while Leo DiCaprio and Charlize Theron gave entertainment lawyer Steve Warner the ‘Stephen F. Kolzak Award’ for his work for gay causes.

‘Outstanding Film – Wide Release’ went to The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, while The New Normal got ‘Outstanding Comedy Series’ and American Horror Story: Asylum won ‘Outstanding TV Movie or Mini-Series’.

Guests at the shindig included Darren Criss, Kelly Rowland, Andrew Rannells, Justin Bartha, Chaz Bono, Wilson Cruz, Logan Lerman, Ellen Pompeo, Eric Dane, Beth Ditto, Trevor Donovan, Kirsten Dunst, Chris Evans and his gay brother Scott Evans, Elle Fanning, Joshua Jackson, Tobey Maguire, Alex Pettyfer, Teri Polo, Molly Shannon, Matt Dallas and Betty White. You can take a look at a few of those guests below.

However there has been a bit of controversy, as Bret Easton Ellis has said that he was banned from the event. He was due to attend as the guest of one of those invited, but Ellis tweeted that, “As a gay man in a domestic partnership who plans to get married I’m sad to hear I’ve been banned by Glaad from attending tomorrow’s event… Glaad is supposedly ‘furious’ about my tweets. And I’m guessing not the ones concerning my boyfriend or how sexy I think Adam Driver is.”

GLAAD has responded, with the organisation’s vice president of communications Rich Ferraro telling the Hollywood Reporter, “GLAAD spoke with the guest who was planning to bring Bret about some of Bret’s recent remarks, which the gay community responded negatively to. We also asked for a time to sit down with Bret. They decided to replace Bret with a different guest and there has been no response to the offer of a meeting.”

Ellis has slip opinion with tweets such as comparing watching Glee to “stepping into a puddle of HIV”, and also provoked fury among some for saying that Matt Bomer is ‘too gay’ to play Christian Grey in the film version of 50 Shades Of Grey. It’s not only the LGBT community he’s managed to piss off, as recently he apologised for saying Kathryn Bigelow only won the Best Director Oscar for The Hurt Locker because she’s a ‘hot woman’.

Ellis seems resolutely unimpressed by GLAAD though, making the perhaps salient point, “Bill Clinton signed Doma [Defense of Marriage Act] and Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and cheated on Hillary… I dissed Glee and Matt Bomer as Christian Grey. GLAAD: RIGHT ON!”

Take a look below for all the winners from Saturday night’s awards, and a few pics from the event below that.

Girl Most Likely (Imogene) Trailer – Darren Criss gets shirtless in Kristen Wiig’s latest

March 4, 2013 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Kristen Wiig’s latest, Girl Most Likely (aka Imogene) debuted last September at the Toronto International Film Festival, but it doesn’t reach the US until July and no UK date is currently set at all. Nevertheless we’ve now got a trailer, giving us a look at the quirky indie comedy.

Plus she meets Glee’s Darren Criss, who very kindly gets shirtless for us in the trailer, which certainly ensures this is worth a look. [Read more…]

BGPS’s Advent Calendar Of Buff Blokes: Day 15 – Darren Criss

December 15, 2011 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Whether you love Glee or hate it, it’s difficult not to swoon when Darren Criss is around – especially when he’s gaying it up on screen as Blaine, opposite Chris Colfer’s Kurt. Criss is a rare mix of innocence, geekiness, preppiness and sweetness, yet dashed through with a streak of dirty sexiness. You get the feeling he’d take you out for a lovely romantic evening, then bang you senseless afterwards until you’re both completely spent.

Darren find found fame on the internet, starring in musical parodies of Harry Potter. That led to him moving to LA, a role in the short-lived show Eastwick and then on to Glee.

The raunchier pics below are from a photoshoot for Out magazine in the US, and quite frankly if he ever wants to take more pics like those, he has our blessing. [Read more…]
