After nine years CSI: New York comes to an end with the final 17 episodes. Thankfully though, while most shows simply get yanked off the air, they knew this would be the end for the Big Apple’s finest crime scene investigators, giving them time to wrap some things up and give the characters a proper send-off.

That’s particularly true for the show’s central character, Mac Taylor (Gary Sinise), who finds romance in Season 9 – which is certainly fitting considering the series started with Mac still reeling from his wife’s death on 9/11. [Read more…]

Penn Badgley & Teresa Palmer Join Parts Per Billion

December 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

penn-badgelyPenn Badgley (Greetings from Tim Buckley), Teresa Palmer (I Am Number Four), Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls) and Hill Harper (CSI: NY) have joined the already pretty good ensemble cast for writer/director Brian Horiuchi’s indie flick Parts Per Billion.

They join Frank Langella (Robot and Frank), Gena Rowlands (Yellow), Rosario Dawson (Sin City) and Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down) in the movie, which tells the story of three couples dealing with the same reality shaking event that threatens to tear them apart. The Magnolia-style ensemble movie is set just before a disastrous biological war.

The movie is currently shooting in Detroit, and will continue to do so through Christmas.

CSI: NY – Season 7 (DVD)

January 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Gary Sinise, Sela Ward, Carmine Giovinazzo, Hill Harper, Anna Belknap
Director: Various
Running Time: 930 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: January 9th, 2012

You have to wonder whether Melina Kanakaredes pissed somebody off in CSI land. After six years playing the female lead character of Det. Stella Bonasera in CSI: New York, she decided to leave the show. However, the fact she’s no longer in the series at the beginning of Season 7 isn’t even mentioned. None of the characters finds it odd or even comments on it. In fact it’s like she was never there.

Presumably the idea is to treat things as business as usual, but it does feel like a bit of a snub after audiences have gotten to know her over the years. The show just powers through this departure, with Kanakarades’ replacement, Sela Ward’s ex-FBI agent Jo Danville, not in her job more than five minutes before she finds a dead body on the floor of the Crime Lab.
