‘John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous “Kaiju.” Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through our cities and bring the world to its knees, he is given one last chance to live up to his father’s legacy by his estranged sister, Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi)—who is leading a brave new generation of pilots that have grown up in the shadow of war. We hadn’t heard about this film before, so we figure it needs every little bit of help it can get. I expect you’ll only be able to find it in tiny little art cinemas though when it’s released in December.

WIth this year’s Comic Con starting, some of those planning to promote their upcoming big movies in San Diego are trying to get in ahead of the rush, by releasing some of their material publicly a little early. That includes our first look at Pacific Rim: Uprising, which ditches much of the cast of the first film and director Guillermo Del Toro.
Following her looks at contemporary warfare with The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, director Kathryn Bigelow is heading back into the past to look at a different kind of battle – the riots that ripped through Detroit in 1967.
When The Force Awakens was released, more than a few people noticed that John Boyega’s Finn and Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron seemed to like each other a lot, to the point where many wondered if the film was suggesting some sort of romance between them. It even got the point where the actors were joking about it and you couldn’t tell if they thought their characters might have a romantic future together or not.
If you were hoping for the first trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi to give you a full rundown of the plot, you’ll be disappointed. Instead – and as most expected – it’s more about teasing the movie and getting people excited. Plot-wise, all we learn is the Rey will be practicing her Jedi skills and that the bad guys think the Jedi should end.
